Operates with no a hitch. I don't use the offered computer software, so wont' comment on that. That being stated, blu-ray discs operate without any troubles. The file copy speed is a bit slow, but that is expected from a 4x disc. Ditched the powerdvd software program early on; I just use anydvd to decrypt the blu-ray and watch on VLC.

Good Drive. Quiet. Reads BluRay movies nicely. Effortless Installation. Smooth playback. Comes with PowerDvD eight. Worst playback software ever. Do oneself a favor. Don't waste time with the enclosed computer software. I messed with it trying to get it to function for a week. Buyer service is useless. Installed TMT3 and updated and BluRays play wonderfully. I would give the drive 5 stars if it had been not for the computer software.

Installed fine on Windows 7 64bit and does what it says it will do. Came with PowerDVD eight that works with Windows 7 64bit, but it doesn't operate nicely enough for me to replace my LG Blu-Ray player. Don't want to invest the ๟ for upgrade to PowerDVD 10 because I'm not confident how considerably of an improvement that will be, and it's too much funds. I didn't read the specs close sufficient. This unit does not burn DVDs or CDs. Ouch! I want to burn Window Media Center Tv recordings, so I'll probably replace this drive with less costly DVD burner. So I ended up wasting my income on this BD player. Not NewEgg's fault. So beware if you are constructing a HTPC to replace an current Blu-Ray player and want to burn DVDs.

Appears to do the job so far, although I've only played 2 blu-rays with it. Very impressed with the DVD upscaling from the bundled Power DVD computer software. My initial blu-ray disc had some audio stutter but looked reasonably shiny. After a firmware update from Lite-on and a subsequent patch to the Cyberlink computer software this problem went away. I do count on to have the occasional concern with blu-ray discs and copy protection as I have study that the version eight software doesn't assistance almost everything, but so far so great. The version of PowerDVD 8 that comes with it is limited to 2 channels of audio UNLESS you use an optical audio out connection (which I do) which supplies Dolby DTS 5.1 to my receiver no troubles :)

Straightforward installation and operates as advertised. Application bundle is limited to two.1 channel sound, not full version. Software is not new... and it will not update without paying for the new high-priced version. Would have liked to noticed the complete version (up to date also) of the application player. LE version is not worth the time it takes to set up.

Quiet, easy set up and worked completely.PowerDVD eight runs with out any issues either. none Drive didn't show up in Windows Explorer till I put a DVD in the drive. Installed PowerDVD, let it upgrade itself and played a Blu-ray film. Image and sound had been great on my 22" LCD monitor. I only have two speakers and a subwoofer so I didn't care that PowerDVD only supports two channels.

Plays (most) bluray discs. Fantastic for a media center / HTPC exactly where you have no plans of burning any discs. comes with cra&&y OEM version of PowerDVD 8. They currently have PDVD 11 out. not good with the most current copyright / DRM from Netflix / blockbuster. stumbles on some discs. would be nice to have a firmware update and computer software patch.

The drive itself seems fine. It plays regular movies properly enough, and I located one particular blue ray that will play on it with the given computer software bundle. The challenge is the bundled Cyberlink application. The bundled Cyberlink PowerDVD 8 software doesn't support all (or, so far, most) BluRay titles, the 'upgrade' button in the computer software doesn't download patches and when I asked for a patch thru the web page, I was told the following :"Please note that patches accessible on the website are only for retail version softwares not for customised/OEM version softwares."I was then provided a hyperlink (that didn't function either) to a supposed upgrade version ƙ.), and told :"If situation still persists then you want to upgrade PowerDVD 9. OEM to PowerDVD ten Ultra by buying the upgrade using the hyperlink under for movie playback. "In other words, its just a crippleware meant to force you into spending an additional ฮ or even so significantly. I'm almost certainly returning my drive subsequent week and ordering a single that has software that 'just operates'. How they expect to make income with all this run-around, no product assistance (patches) and so on is beyond me. This is a massive disappointment, I've been buying Lite-On products for years devoid of issues. They want to much more completely vet their bundled software.

- It plays Bluray movies, cds, and dvds just fine.- Came with software for playing Bluray films. None so far. You only want this if you're going to watch Bluray movies on your Computer or if you are employing Bluray information disks (and why would you do that with transportable really hard drives becoming less expensive cost per GB?).

Reads CDs, DVDs and BluRay. BEWARE: This drive does not burn discs!!! I didnt read the specs well sufficient, mainly because I thought all drives over ์ these days burned DVDs. So only buy this drive if you in no way will need to burn a disc. Not neweggs fault.

Fits in the laptop... The drive software program would only play a couple of titles. Had to acquire the updated DVD/BD software. The movies skip and have problems playingback. The drive began to quit functioning and would absolutely shut off. I couldnt open the tray or anything. Thought I may have a terrible SATA port, but changed ports and got the very same thing. Plugged it into a distinct pc and got the similar response. Couldnt RMA to newegg simply because I dont have the box. Now waiting for tech help on the net forever....could be stuck with it if LITE-ON doenst RMA On the internet Help stated that is was old lol. "Technical Support: That is an older unit."...thanks didnt realize I was purchasing an old unit.

Was cheap Had to get retail TMT3 mainly because the bundled Blue-ray software program was also limitedFails intermittingly I bought this drive in an attempt to turn my HTPC personal computer into a blue-ray player. I use it very rarely with blue-ray disks, largely with DVDs. In the last couple of months I started getting issues with DVD playback that I initially blamed on Windows 7. But after some additional analysis I realized the drive is starting to fail. Here is what I am experiencingɅ) DVD playback fails intermittingly - I get a generic error in media center. It looks like when the drive experiences as well many errors it switches to legacy PIO mode which then causes WMP/WMC to fail and needs pc to be rebooted. This happens far more and additional oftern2) I was reinstalliing windows on this machine lately and the 1st try complitely failed - setup hanged in the middle and displayed some garbage on the screen. I didn't play attention to that as the second attempt succeded, but now I understand it was the drive's failure.3) TMT at times has garbled video and audio when playing from a DVD drive.Poor! Negative!

Performs as advertised. Quiet. Didn't anticipate the bezel to be shiny. Oh well. None I wish I had waited longer to invest in BluRay, I paid around 70 for this and I see the drives for 40 at times. I don't even play BluRay discs in it that generally, while it is good to have.

- Wonderful Common Def up-conversion to 1080p (better than the Asus BC-08B1ST).- Fantastic Firmware upgrade application (The Asus BC-08B1ST in no way upgraded theirs from initial release regardless of BD difficulties).- PLAYS AVATAR EXTENDED COLLECTOR'S EDITION. Will not play on the Asus optical drive.Runs pretty cool. Runs pretty quiet unless the disk media is unbalanced, which generates a hum. Will appear at dampening the mounting. I purchased this 1 to replace my Asus BC-08B1S due to the fact it would not play the Extended Collector's Edition of Avatar. I ruled out the software PowerDVD 9, WinDVD 10, Total Media Theatre three (all function for Avatar). I also ruled out Firmware upgrades due to the fact Asus never bothered to upgrade the firmware from its initial 1. release in April of 2009. Asus customer service was no help. Ignored my final plea to upgrade the firmware.Wonderful drive, no complaints!

Plays all the Blu-rays I have thrown at it and ripped them just fine. Came with the software necessary to play them and the excellent of the video is fairly awesome. The Powerdvd 9 computer software isn't good. It tends to result in movies to stutter every single now and then. For cost-free it isn't terrible at all though. All round it is worth five eggs. It gets the job performed and didn't price also considerably to boot. I would definitely purchase this item again.

Effortless set up, comes with a SATA cable! Simple firmware updates (once you locate the right Lite-on web page!). Rips Blu-ray with DVDfab pretty rapidly. PowerDVD8 is not so very good- wants to be updated out of the box, doesn't perform effectively with all video cards. Offered the software program is not part of the drive, and it's what you would expect in this cost range of application (free!) I didn't subtract any eggs for it. Initial off, to get the firmware update, DO NOT look in the firmware section of downloads on Lite-On's internet page... the utility you want is the "Smartpack firmware auto upgrade utility" and you guessed it- it is in the UTILITIES section of downloads! I looked all more than the firmware section for it... url is http://us.liteonit.com/us/index.php?option=com_wrapper&ItemidThis drive plays most of my blu-rays, but some of them are genuinely pixelated in PowerDVD. Nonetheless, they rip completely with DVDfab, so not positive if it's a drive challenge, or just PowerDVD. I got this drive to rip my Blu-rays to my network media server, and it functions great for that.

Reads blu ray discs (I think...see beneath). Quiet. SLOW DVD reads. I created the mistake of putting this in my Core i7 as the key optical drive.....You wouldn't think how slow the Win7 DVD was to study the info. Also, the bundled software program for PowerDVD is just junk. It's in the version 8 series (they are presently in ten), and it's the two channel edition. I installed it anyway to test, and downloaded the newest patch for it. Well, it blue screened when I attempted to set up, and then on the reboot, the complete software vanished from the computer, sort of like it was in the middle of removing the old version, got corrupted and the new version in no way made it on. Effectively, it wouldn't resume the update mainly because it stated that it needed the prior version installed. Lovely. Blu Ray is often a discomfort to get functioning on a Computer anyway....But if you're intent on carrying out it, I'd advise seeking at a diverse drive all collectively. I assume an OEM drive would function much better, due to the fact in all likelihood, you're going to have to spring for application anyway.
