PORTABLE SPEAKER SYS W/FM RADIO FOR IPOD

Don't expect Bose quality sound here, but compared to other ipod docks I have listened to in the past this one seems to be one of the better ones.It will be used on the kitchen counter, my wife is happy with it.

Just got this and tried it out with FM and iPod. The sound is decent but a little light on the low end. I found this a little more pronounced with all the FM stations I tried, they seemed a little tinny. The included remote is functional but has a very limited range. The one big problem I have with this is when I plugged in a 4th gen iPod touch it said charging was not supported with this accessory. I tried two different iPods and got the same result. Having to charge my iPod before I can use it on a plugged in dock for listening to music is VERY disappointing. The sound is OK and the compact size is nice so I don't think I will go through the effort to return it, but if there was a list of compatible devices in the specs I would have continued shopping for something that worked with my iPods. I would not buy this again simply for the lack of compatibility.

Even though this device is listed as working with iPhones, it will NOT charge them and you must put them in airplane mode to avoid interference. Clearly Altec's definition of compatible with and mine differ, but it does play the music from the iphone, just doesn't charge it. It also says it has great bass without a subwoofer but no, it doesn't. I doubt the bass extends below 80hz. Altec's support is also horrible, I've been waiting for my ticket to be answered for over a week on a separate Altec product and if I had paid full price for this product, I'd be severely dissapointed. As it stands, with a 50% sale price, its Satisfactory.

I picked this up on-sale while shopping for other computer parts I needed. Everything came included, along with several "adapters" for varying iPod types (small inserts for the iPod to sit in) - my iPod was a typical 4th gen. iPod touch, so I didn't bother using them. One thing I liked was that there was enough room for me to leave my iPod protective case (clear plastic) on it while seated into the adapter.The sound came out loud and clear - very nice and crisp. Controls were easy to use. I played with the FM transmitter a bit, and I found its performance adequate.The only thing I really disliked was the glossy finish. Enough with the gloss already - it looks great on the `showroom` floor, but don`t touch it! Even the included remote is glossy. Seems to be the trend these days I guess. Still, I would purchase it again.

First one I bought did not have the AC power supply. Brought it in and they immediately replaced the product with one that had all the pieces. Tested iPod functionality and it works very well. The additional adapter allow for better cradle of each type of iPod. However, do not depend on this product to firmly hold the iPod, it can be jarred loose. The rechargeable base would be great for a backyard BBQ or a small gathering at a park. Just remember not to jostle it around too much.
