Cons: Low to non-existent bass without EQ on iPod Classic or LG Optimus 2x, needs a headphone amp to have any real bass.

Pros: Sound Quality, Sale Price
Comment:
I bought 2 sets of these when I saw the huge price reduction NCIX was offering on this product. These earbuds sound great and for $40 they're a good buy, however when plugging these into your iPod or Android / iPhone, you will immediately notice that while the sound is incredibly clear and well defined, the bass is severely lacking. I've done a fair bit of googling and it looks like if you're using a portable device, you will need a portable headphone amp to really get these things to output a normal amount of bass. I know many will say these are designed to be balanced in ear monitors and not coloured, bass-heavy earbuds like Beats by Dr. Dre and I recognize that as a valid point. However, a Flat EQ on my iPod classic leaves these sounding dry and tinny due to the complete lack of any bass. Acoustic music sounds amazing and clear, but punk, metal, and hip-hop come across as lacking certain elements due to the very low bass output. That being said, you will still be able to hear things in your music collection that you didn't know were there compared to listening with cheaper earbuds. Lately I have been listening to Propagandhi's new record "Failed States" with these and the guitars and drums sound phenomenally clear and well-defined. Great midrange crunch on the guitars and incredible high-end definition on the symbols. Each individual drum sounds incredibly clear with these earbuds. I can still make out the bass lines as they are audible, however it is really lacking the low-end fullness that I know I should be hearing. My recommendation is get a headphone amp if you will be using these with a portable music player, like a Fiio e5 or an Electric Avenues PA2V2 if you really want to get the most out of these.

Cons: Included storage case is ridiculously large for the size of the item it is intended to protect.

Pros: Amazing sound quality, very precise.High quality manufactured item.Comfortable to wear for extended periods.Long cable, it has a proper "Y" split for the earbuds, unlike the Apple earplugs.Extra filters included.
Comment:
I am not normally much of an audiophile so there are others who would appreciate the audio quality more than I do. That said, the audio quality is geniunely amazing, equal to products that normally sell at almost double the retail price that these do! The audio precision was particularily surprising - I did not expect so high quality reproduction from these earbuds. These have been on my wishlist for a few months now and they don't appear to sell for less than retail anywhere. Ever. Then they went on sale at NCIX, for close to 80% off and I snatched the opportunity to get them. Heck, two weeks later they have gone on sale again and here I am buying another pair.Despite only owning them for two weeks, I've used them for extended periods while travelling already. Both tips(foam and silicon) have been comfortable but I prefer the silicone tips as I found them a little less intrusive feeling while wearing them. Noise isolation is great with both sets of tips, dangerously so with the foam tips because they eliminate all outside noise - if you have tinnitus it can be a bit disconcerting between tracks.I would definitely recommend these to anyone and almost consider it theft when able to purchase these and the IM716's for 80% off the retail price here on NCIX. You cannot beat the $40 sale price and won't be able to find better headphones without spending several times that, at a minimum!
