Comment:
When I first received these and tried them out, I was very disappointed with the tinny sound that severely lacked both midrange and bass. I was ready to throw them away. Then eventually I happened to jam one up a bit further in my ear and the sound magically became just fine. Unfortunately getting them set in my ears just right to get good sound requires some amount of fiddling (regardless of what size of ear tips are put in), other than my previous pair of noise isolating headphones, which relatively foolproof in this respect.Once the headphones are in properly, they seem to be reasonably comfortable and secure, though I would feel better if a lapel clip for the cord were included. The headphone jack casing is quite slender, which means you won't have any problem fitting the jack through whatever case you may have on your mobile phone, whereas I've had some trouble getting jacks with thicker casings to fit.The L & R markings are consist of molded black letters against the black headphone casing, making them difficult to make out even in good light. But since the left and right headphones have asymmetric shapes, eventually you learn which phone goes in which ear based on shape alone. My primary use for these is listening to in-flight music and movies, but these headphones have a couple of drawbacks in this application. First, there is no adapter to fit the dual-jack layout most airplanes use, so purchasing an aftermarket adapter is required. Second, as with my previous pair of noise isolating earphones, the sensitivity is much higher than the stock headphones they give out on the airplanes. This is fine when you're listening to the program, since you just need to reduce the volume a bit on the in-flight device. However, when the announcements come on, the volume is excessively loud and cannot be lowered. So you'll need to suddenly rip the headphones out of your ears if you don't want to be painfully blasted with the flight announcements. If the headphones included their own volume control then you could just turn it down a bit so that this would not be an issue. The included little zippered carrying case holds the headphones securely and there is a separate little compartment for holding your airplane adapter (or a few tic tacs, if you prefer).Bottom line -- very good for the sale price of $40
