Card is constructed sturdy and is a clean searching card, straightforward to plug in SATA connectors, no troubles installing. Got the card installed it setup the drivers, powered down plugged up a HDD powered up card detected HDD, HDD showed up in the my computer. Shut down method, powered up no drive detected, drive not detected in the my personal computer, plugged in a different drive very same factor worked the very first time booting up, but not the second time. Plugged both drives into the motherboard, each drives have been unable to be detected each drives have been RMA back to the manufacturer. Lost about 200GB of data!!! This card may possibly have been a negative apple, try you luck if you can afford it.

Affordable PCI-X resolution. Keeps orphaning drives. I have 4x Intel 40g SSDs and in any configuration(Raid ,10,five) it likes to orphan drives as quickly as any load is put on the array such as benchmarking(Crystalmark,ATTO,and so forth.) or big file transfers. Before crashing, the sequential study speed of two, three or 4 drives is about half࿺m/sec vs 200m/sec) of a single drive.I have tried all the drivers and application for the Silicon Image SII3124 from the past up till the current set. I am running it on a rather antiquated HP G3 server, but our other raid arrays seem fine even when below equivalent load.it is running on its own PCI-X channel and appears to be capable to manage 1 SSD fine.Oddly, whilst the benchmark runs, the random study鹀k) is amazing鴺m/sec+) but, as stated before, the sequential drops to m/sec.

This is the least expensive PCI-X sata controller I have located. It works great out of the box with Windows Server 2003. It even supports hot swapping drives with no problems or hiccups. All round, a great card at a excellent value. None yet!

Inexpensive card, only one particular I could come across especially for the price that accepts 2tb drives. I presently have 4 2tb drives in a linux raid5 attached to this card. I necessary a raid controller that would permit an old server motherboard to accept 2tb tough drives and this card is excellent for that. Not a hardware raid, but what do you count on for the price tag. This card is great for modernizing an old server. No drivers necessary for Ubuntu Server 10.tenI attempted to order this card from newegg, but when I went to checkout it mentioned the card was no longer in stock. I went back to the description web page and it stated the card was discontinued. So I had to order the card from opentip.com instead. It seems now that the card is back in stock at newegg. Too poor they didn't have it a week ago.

This is 1 very easy card to set up. I had no issues in undertaking so. Card was a bit of a tight match into the 64 bit slot. Was worried about cracking it. After acquiring card into slot of my poweredge 2400 server, I was kind of worried about information loss as the drives I have had some data on them. So when I reconnected power and fired machine, I ignored it when it asked me to enter bios of the card. machine started, loaded drivers, restarted machine, There was my drives ready for access with all data intacted. I had previosly had these new maxtor drives connected to a maxtor pci sata card. but I was obtaining information time outs. This card fixed that dilemma. New installs of card and drives would also be a breeze. Just just after machine starts have cd prepared for driver load. incert cd when prompted for drivers. effortless as 123! Also for 64 bit pci slots kind of be cautious inserting card. As I said card is a tight fit. At least it was in my dell. Also it showed up in computer bios as well, listed along with other scsi devices. Magnificent card!

I installed this card in to a Dell Precision 670 workstation that I am employing as a HTPC since I ran out of on-board SATA ports. I have no will need for a RAID array. The card dropped in perfectly, installed with tiny effort, and runs each 2TB drives that I hooked up to it completely. It's significantly more quickly than the on-board SATA ports. I couldn't be happier. None The only point that I would adjust about this solution would be to add an eSATA port. Other than that, it's great.

Card shows markable overall performance enhance over on-board SATA device. Fantastic Linux help for JBOD modes. RAID modes not tested. I'm fairly positive that this is a fakeraid device, so if I'm performing raid, I like the linux software raid a lot better than the proprietary drivers. On this card I get ㅾ MB(big B)/ sec to the drive. Tested with the following command:dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdc <bytes*>ɣM count bytes ྿ GB) copied, 454.551 s, 69.two MB/sThe identical test to the same drive, employing the onboard SATA controller provides me about ㅪ MB/sec.So, this card provides me a speed improve of ӭ.four.* The bytes field in dd is in fact "b s", (without the space). Placing b and s collectively in a newegg critique is ruled as "improper and unsuitable for submission". So, take pleasure in!

Allowed me to make 2 raid 1's in an old socket 604 server and use SATA II to do it. I am not confident why people today have complained about this board. it does what it says it does and the procedure speeds of the tough drives are fine. the board appears stable and i have 2 of these in identical servers and they are working beyond my expectations. I guess some people today just like to gripe. I'm satisfied so no cons here.

Adds 4 SATAII drives which can be employed in a non RAID or a RAID configuration. It is economical and straightforward to install. This 1 makes use of a 64Bit interface for quicker transfer speeds. This will also perform in any normal PCI slot as properly. None so far. I have not had the complications that other individuals have had. Recommend to anybody that requirements further storage space.

Allows me to adequately take advantage of the 64-bitኞMhz slots in my server's Tyan S2518 motherboard (running dual 1.4ghz Tualatins). Also, its SiI-3124 chipset is a single of the couple of SATA controllers that supports a full range of capabilities making use of the libata drivers in Linux. I don't intend to use this card for RAID purposes, so it's not so considerably a con for me, but this is not a correct hardware RAID 5 card. Also, I almost certainly would not acquire this card if I only had 32-bit PCI slots or if PCI-E was an option. I believed at first that the card was not operating with my program, as the BIOS was not coming up at boot and the card was not becoming detected, but it worked fine right after I reseated it. Linux assistance has been excellent, and I am finding the level of performance I am expecting. Windows drivers function fine and upgrading the BIOS is dead simple. While I was carrying out that, I took a few benchmarks. HDTach on a 6400AAKS shows an average read speed of 99.six MB/s, with a max of about 120 MB/s and a burst rate of 189.two MB/sec. On a 320GB 7200.11 drive, I'm receiving average reads of 69.6 MB/s, with a max of around 85 MB/s and a burst rate of 199.5 MB/s. Surely more than I would theoretically count on from a 32-bitችMhz card, at any rate.

Works perfectly. Arch Linux running on an old Dell PowerEdge 2400. Performance is rather sensible, and really great for the value. none so far Haven't tried RAID. It's not a hardware RAID card although, so there'd actually be no point. Superior to just use it as a SATA controller and let Linux take care of the RAID.

Works with pci-x slots, provides total raid assistance with out utilizing the cpu (doesnt add any operate to the cpu). Incredibly effortless to use and setup bios. Drivers worked perfectly with windows server 2003. Card is modest and looks wonderful/ nicely constructed. Had to try aranging drives in unique orders and drives needed jumpers on them to be recognized for the raid array to save permanently. Took some time to figure out the right way to plug the drives into card for everything to function. By far the best deal for a pci-x sata raid controller.

The SIL3124 chipset on this card has been supported natively with a production-grade driver in the Linux kernel given that two.6.14, which is fairly old now. Even RHEL is employing two.6.18, so it need to function out-of-the-box with all but legacy systems. Otherwise, you can download the drivers from the chipset manufacturer. You really should get quite decent bandwidth on a motherboard that has a 64-bit PCI(X) slot and bus mastering. I bought this card to use with a software RAID in a Linux secure fileserver in my home office. In a 1 in a million fluke, this card merely would not function with my fileserver's old Tyan Thunder 7kx Pro motherboard. It wouldn't choose it up at all, not even to load the [fake]RAID BIOS at boot. I've employed other similar cards in it with no troubles at all, and the Koutech card in question worked fine in other systems so I'm positive it's not a DOA. It's just a single of those things. I ordered another related card and newegg was of course fantastic sufficient to RMA it for me. It's 64-bit, but operates in a 32-bit slot as long as it's 3.3v. I advocate utilizing a 64-bit card with a 64-bit or PCI-X slot for best final results. I can not speak for the top quality of the Windows experience with this card, as I haven't bothered with that OS in nearly a decade.

Would function if my board supported 5v PIC-X Will perform in a 32-bit 5v PCI slot but will only accomplish 133MB/s transfer speeds. I required a SATAII controller card to revive my old Precision 450 workstation. I bought this card mainly because it was suppose to function with 3.3v PCI-X interface, according to the manufactures site. Sadly the card was identical to the card I purchased a month ago, and also retuned. This card was identical to the SYBA SY-PCX40009, simply because the chipset in both cards is the SiL3124 chipset which does not help three.3v PCI slots. Even although the card is keyed for a universal application it, on the other hand, does not support 3.3v.

Adds SATA ports, which is exactly what I got it for. Under no circumstances tried the RAID on it. I was operating video and music off the drives hooked to it and they all ran just as smooth as they would as if they were hooked to my board. Immediately after less than 6 months, one particular of the connectors broke off. One more port stopped reading.

Seems like it has a lot of superior characteristics My Dell PE 1600SC's BIOS would not detect this card at all. Tried two from the very same card. At very first I believed the first one particular arrived DOA, even so, following Newegg replaced it for me, the second card had the similar issue as the initially. Tech assistance told me that their 32bit version is substantially far more stable. I bought a High Point card for 100 dollars much more, and I was up in minutes.

I'm employing this on a h8dae MB and it works great! getting drive speeds off of it, good for the SAN construct I am operating on at present. This is my 3rd and I will be picking up yet another shortly. Won't post in shared bus 133럼 mHz slots, but will post and functions good in 66 mHz ports. Mine was a tight fit also, but not adequate to genuinely lead to concern (pressure required was roughly that of installing RAM) If you can't boot from this card check your MB documentation as a lot of occasions boot-ability is restricted to only certain MB PCI-X ports.

PCI-X, Effortless to Configure None I purchased this card since my server's SATA controller would not properly recognize a 1.5TB drive I purchased. I am not utilizing the RAID function on this card yet, but it appropriately recognized the drive and is operating great with the single drive configuration.

Reasonable cost for a drop-in SATA RAID controller Have had a lot of troubles with this card in a variety of motherboards. It seems to function just fine in a 32-bit slot, but will not detect drives in a multitude of 64-bit boards that I've attempted, such as Tyan Tiger MPX (card not detected), Tyan S2882 (card detected, but not the drives), and Intel 5000PAL (card detected, but not the drives). In 32-bit slots, the card and the drives were detected. It worked "as-advertised" in a 64-bit PCI-X slot on an older Dell Optiplex server (early Xeon method), but that wasn't the production-class program I want to use it in. A good acquire if you're willing to gamble on regardless of whether it will function in your board, or if you want to run it in 32-bits.

have raid on a none raid motherboard.... well, iv only tried it in pci slot, but it appears the max read rate is 102mb/s, that is with 4 tough drives in raid , i tested the drives prior to i decided on trying it on this rig /w raid and it appears with 3 i got 230mb/s, i didnt do significantly reseach on it but pci might have the max speed of 100mb/s witch is highly disappointing to my expectations, nonetheless it is partly my fault for not researching a little far more. i did the read test on everest and it was 102 down the line, recommend only finding this is you are utilizing it for pci-e, although i didnt test it i would expect higher preformance on the upgraded slot. hopefully someone will test it and give the outcomes back to any individual seeking for a raid card in the future =)mobo-Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L

Good Paperweight! Seriously..it's holding down a stack of papers.... the PCI-X version doesn't like 64-bit boards and when is setup with another system with sata built-in, it wouldn''t boot as a main device. Attempted on ASUS-KFN32D-SLI, MSI-K7-L. The Card is incredibly TIGHT! careful when pushing it in. I would say that it requirements more function on bigger boards, but that's my opinion.I'm going after a Promise Fastrax and see what occurs from there. I feel I need to have spent an extra 30$ and got that in the first place. Feel of these cards as energy supplies...You get what you pay for.
