Got this as a Shellshocker with free shipping. A lot significantly less than reg price tag, at reg value it isn't worth it versus what you can get with newer ION GFX & WIFI IMO. It plays 1080P and 1080P rips w/o situation. Runs cool in the Apex MI-008 tower and 250w is fine. No constructed in WIFI - has a mini PCIE and a PCIE 1x slot, but my old WIFI card is PCI. ฤ for the least expensive mini PCI-E or PCI-E 1x card vs บ for the cheapest USB wireless adapter. Other huge con to me is the MIR hasn't yet arrived & it's been almost two months. And I did the "Express" with filling it out online & mailing it in, it should have arrived a month ago. Budget HTPC make with blu-ray drive & old HD laying around collecting dust for 趚. I've since added on a Lenovo 57Y6336 (N5901) and XBOX wireless Windows controller. No will need to get off my couch to play or change games I emulate, motion pictures I watch or shows I stream. It's the ultimate accessory for my HDTV.

Product OK I sent all of my rebate details in for rebate in April 2010. Received confirmation and acceptance of rebate. Rebate has been "pending" for 9 Months now!! When I contacted them about it, they said to confirm the records. In Nov/Dec 2010 I did confirm all of my facts in multiple emails to Luis Molina at Zotac. Nonetheless NO REBATE. Sounds like the tactic is to stall until you just go away. Will not buy Zotac hardware again until resolved favorably. Manufacturer Response:I apologize for the continued delay in getting your rebates challenge resolve. Please get in touch with me straight and I will be happy to assist you. Good for most ultra-smaller form element situations... except HTPC. Most significant con: No digital out. HDMI audio only supports stereo sound! nVidia sound can not be configured for coax digital out. Also... not the newest ion dual core. Clearly a big market place for ITX motherboards is the home theater market place. So why, oh why, would you design this devoid of any kind of digital sound output so your sound technique can decode the audio?! I set this all up with a BluRay player, only to discover I have to watch my BluRays with STEREO sound. I know, must have study the fine print prior to I bought it, but... Really?

- ITX (size)- ION chipset - price - no wireless network adapter on this one I utilized this for a light weight HTPC making use of media off of my NAS server soon after reading some of the critiques. It turns out that Mediaportal is a little heavy for this and I do not like any other media center applications compared to MP and its apps. The complete HD x264 encoded video files playback is not that wonderful, there is no chopping, but each and every so often(minute or so) I see a line on the bottom side of the video which is annoying. I tried all the tricks, but it seems ION is nevertheless not at the point exactly where it can play complete HD video. Then, right after about 1.5months of usage, the HDMI port died. I have RMA'ed the MB and Zotac has approved it and they are supposed to send me a replacement(lets see how lengthy it takes for it to arrive). Lets see how it goes. All in all it is not for severe full HD playback.

I was ready for the fact that it's little, affordable, plays HD video without having a hitch, and sips energy. I wasn't prepared for the super-rapidly boot time, though; I have difficulty finding into the BIOS due to the fact it gets past the startup screen just before the monitor has time to react. Also, it has Hyperthreading, so it's practically like possessing 4 processors. Almost. The SATA plugs are a bit close to the heatsink with the fan, I'm afraid they'll block airflow. Then once again, I'm utilised to energy hungry monsters, so it's in all probability not an concern. Also, the heatsink fan has no sensor pin, so there's no way to inform how quickly it's going (or if it fails). Also, this board is so amazing, I really want to purchase a different 1, but I can't just now. Require a two-for-a single sale. Right after working with this board, I now locate myself thinking of feasible case mods (this could match in an old Nintendo! Or an old cable box! Or a toaster! Or...!).

This program makes a superb HTPC. making use of the appropriate player you can even play blu-ray disks or even mkv in full 1080p. I even have 1 getting utilized as a desktop replacement for a loved ones member who plays on Facebook and checks email and it does that wonderfully. Its not a powerhouse, dont anticipate to play any new release blockbuster games on it. If you are seeking for a board to be at the heart of your HTPC and dont want wifi, this is the board for you. Why wast CPU cycles with a i3, i5, or i7 system?

(Especially these which are heavily Do not under any situations expect this method to play games!Had problem acquiring HDMI to perform on my Tv. Problem nonetheless isn't resolved. Utilizing DVI + HDMI doesn't function either due to the fact the DVI shuts down when HDMI is detected on boot. So I can't check the manage panel for output settings. Using this as a media and backup server for my property. The processor consumes about 8 watts. The nVidia chipset consumes about 20. Then you have power for the harddrives, and optical drives.Compared to the power use/performance/price supplied by other systems, this system cost as well a lot.

-Dual core atom, HDMI out, ION, plenty of sata connections, can be a excellent worth (I dropped about c-note with rebate), and how do you beat a LIFETIME warranty! -Took some time to resolve HDMI audio quirks-I/O shield fitment issues-MSRP is a bit higher Excellent board for HTPC. Offloading heavy lifting to ION offers you simple 1080p playback all day extended. Even HD flash video ྪ.1+) works like a charm. Ignore complaints about multichannel audio more than HDMI. It functions fine, you just have to get the NVIDA hdmi driver. I didn't even install the realtek as it's not vital. I/O shield doesn't line up with HDMI output really properly, but that's my only complaint...

Fairly straightforward to set up in HTPC build; works effectively commonly for each usual every day internet-surfing, Word, and so on. as nicely as for HTPC. Documentation somewhat adequate generally but generic for the variety of Intel-based motherboards. Driver and other software updates could be much less confusing; documentation tends to be generic ("your model may possibly be distinct than...") customer may not get all the characteristics you thought you were (digital out, for example) but perhaps I required to do better job of reading/researching the specs. Corporation talks on web page of their recognized require for supplying great product and great service but customer service is lacking. Really flimsy I/O plate so I requested to buy added and customer service was non-responsive virtually to rude and not at all valuable. Why I reviewed was due to my frustration simply because the challenging aspect of building a good product was achieved but the less difficult component of very good customer relations ("how can I help? and ordinary politeness) was absent. Hopefully the firm can put some effort into correcting the scenario.

But if I didn't get it, verify the records so they can track the rebate check. I did verify all of my details in several subsequent emails to Luis Molina at Zotac. Finest way to describe this board is WOW! I was hesitant to get this board due to my last Zotac mini itx burning out on me. The PCIe slot is excellent for a nice Television Tuner card to comprehensive the HTPC practical experience. Plays high def 1080p vividly without having anoying skips and jumps. Streams motion pictures from my WHS. Navigates WMC computer software with ease and processor appears fast sufficient to tackle any computer software you want to throw at it. this mobo is a good option for a media laptop or computer. with the mini pcie slot you can have wifi onboard, devoid of using an expansion slot, which is cool/handy. with the 1x pcie slot you can add a television tuner. the integated audio is fine. if you want, this cpu can be overclocked. by how much? probably up to 2ghz-two.3ghz. stock fan could want replaced. you can place a fan on the northbridge as well. employing four gigs ram with 32 bit os really should give max os ram and max aloted ram for integrated video. rosewill sells excellent itx instances (Rosewill RS-MI-01 BK Mini ITX Tower my fav) to put this mobo in! not far enough in the future for a quicker stock cpu. does'nt support ddr3. don't pick a mobo (itx or otherwise) with only 2 gigs ram (this one has 4). you just won't be happy with the resulting lag in software speed. some boards only have the mini pcie slot (comes in a half mini and normal sizes) or a 1x pcie expansion slot, this mobo has both. atom cpu based computer systems are the future of household entertainment.

Surprisingly quickly, really quiet, and very straightforward to work with. On my program, it boots up extremely rapidly (ន seconds max). Blows the Intel board with the very same processor out of the water with the GPU. NVIDIA has carried out an impressive job with the ION chipset of producing a fast, small laptop or computer out of the Atom processor that has reputable graphics. The output shield is flimsy, to say the least. It has the holes for just about every version of Zotac ION boards, so be prepared to make your personal replacement. The only problem with the entire method, even though. You'd believe the manufacturer could make a good, clean-seeking output shield that was specific to the motherboard. -> Runs cool, quiet (the stock cooler does a excellent job of keeping the motherboard from overheating).-> Cheap.-> 6 USB ports on the back plus two plugs for front-mounted USB ports.-> Great Customer Support (thank you, Zotac!)-> Nifty small blue lights! -> Took some function to get HDMI audio in Ubuntu 10.04.-> Driver Disc provided was created for Windows, not Linux, but Zotac customer support walked me by way of every thing.-> Otherwise, I have no complaints about this board. Personally, I believe this is an exceptional tiny board. I'm making use of it in a mini ITX machine I built to test this out for use in an HTPC. It took a bit of perform to get audio coming out of the HDMI cable, but the staff at ZOTAC were incredibly useful, and after two emails, I had my dilemma solved, and the only reason it took two emails was due to the fact of a typo in the isntructions sent, and they had been corrected. I recieved a response within four hours, and the second e mail 90 minutes following my reply. This board, with a single two-gig ddr2 800 stick of Kingston RAM is playing my HD motion pictures devoid of breaking a sweat (I used SMplayer to get the videos operating at complete speed). Also, I downloaded a couple of tiny games to test out efficiency, and it's operating Gameboy Advance Emulators just fine, Starcraft gets to about 90% speed when items get messy, but otherwise, for what I'm using it for, this is an outstanding small board and I'd obtain from Zotac once again.

plays blu-ray, modest, cool, clean, quickly, silent. shrunk a DVD from 5.five GB to four.3 GB in 8 minutes with DVD Shrink. Hyper Threading provides 4 virtual cores. PCI-x 1 is fine for an ASUS hd tuner card. no IDE connector. I would not thoughts a small fan on the GPU or probably a larger heat sink. Temps were fine in my slightly larger itx case but in a extremely tight one particular it will be a diverse story. I have it in the APEX MI-008 case that I purchased here as a combo deal with this motherboard.Blu-Ray playback with Arcsoft's player and also Splash_lite is flawless with minimal CPU usage (temp was about 36 C for CPU and 44 C for the ION GPU. The 1 board I had that worked was extremely solid, whilst it lasted. Seems particularly faulty, Zotac is HORRIBLE to dealt with. I am now receiving ready to have my 4th board all in response to the original RMA'D 1. Initial board ran excellent except it fried two external difficult drives and a portable dvd burner, basically something that was plugged into the onboard usb ports it zapped. (Lost about 贶 due to this.). Second board came, fortunately this time it didn't zap my external devices that I had to repurchase, this one nevertheless kept getting windows bsod errors, all had been relating to memory issues. So I purchased new memory here on newegg and also at my local best purchase. Nonetheless continuous blue screens. This 1 had faulty memory slots. RMA'd that one. Then this 3rd board, has yet to post. I am going on three-four weeks with this 1 and no luck. I am acquiring prepared to send this one back and see what happens. Also thinking about obtaining an intel board just giving up on zotac.

I used this as the core of my ITX HTPC and it did not disappoint. 1. I am able to render all the HD content I have, which admittedly isn't a lot. two. Handles literally just about every video and audio based task I threw at it extremely competently. It's never lost a frame or lip synch although playing DVDs, ripped DVDs, uTube videos full screen, Hulu, ripped DVDs across the powerline network from my serve, whatever. three. Fully stable with Win7 32bit. 4. Runs cool. With full pressure test, GPU in no way exceeds 40C and CPU doesn't exceed 32C. five. Quiet. I was worried when I saw the modest GPU fan, but it turned out to be pretty quiet. Not silent, but quiet enough to not be noticeable when the case was closed.6. It's really cute and can fit into pretty significantly any enclosure, which is creating me eye my old discarded TIVOs with new eyes. 1. 4Gb limit. Truly? In order to run Win7 64 Pro with shared video memory, it confident would be better if I could max out at 8Gb RAM. I'm fine with two slots, just don't limit it to 4Gb.two. No SATA connector on rear of board. I was a small surprised to see this, now regular item, missing. But, since there had been four slots on board, I was able to just pipe 1 out the back, but that utilized up my only slot. I'm in fact really pleased with this motherboard. But, for my subsequent 1, I feel I'll go with the A-U version to pick up the WiFi and 90 watt external PSU. My next wacky project may well be stuffing 1 of these into an old tombstone style tube radio chassis so it will be a lot less complicated without having the ATX PS. Wonderful job Zotac, I'm a believer. Now, I want t stuff 1 of these boards into anything that will sit still long enough.
