Black so it matches my entire outdoors of my case/floppy/optical drives and so forth. Slides in effortlessly to a case that has stress plates for bays (mine has them for all 5.25" bays) and bolts on the left side. Supports 3 drives. Door opens with a sponge filter behind the vents. The 80mm fan is not of fantastic high quality... the cage/door and so forth is. As a person pointed out, when you open the box, the complete thing is kinda dusty from cheapo cardstalk box. Front plate can block "Case Doors". I like this item, alot truly. It matches my case's deep black perfectly. The front black cover+door can be popped off with ease and place upsidedown if necessary to match in a case with a door. I mounted an IDE 160GB HDD and a SATA-2 250GB drive in it. They sit just fine, which I necessary due to developing a new program in my old case that housed 8 HDD's. The new program is employing dual cards in SLI which slightly blocked two HDDs, so this item solved the challenge of where to mount them; in the two bays I was not working with. When playing some grfx intensive games maxed out, the 80mm fan begins to make noise and then hum loudly. I am going to replace it with a good quality fan and see as of now, I have to open the door on the cage to stop the noise. Otherwise it works fine with everything else. Example COD2, noise right after about 10mins. Idle, standard games it operates ok... All in all it fixed an concern for my case I like/use & a excellent fan can be replaced in this cheaply.

This product does specifically what it advertises ... fits three HDDs into two five" drive bays. I replaced three separate HDD coolers with this cooler, and it truly outperforms them as far as cooling, regardless of how close collectively the drives are. My drives are on typical 10F cooler than with separate coolers! The rack is well constructed and sturdy - no flimsy metal anyplace. The faceplate appears nice and is unobtrusive as far as aesthetiocs. Wonderful deal as far as space-saving and tough drive cooling go, and decent deal as far as appearance and building. You won't be disappointed. I, like other reviewers, would favor a energy/spped adjustment switch/knob on the front to control the fan. I plugged it into a rheobus, so that wasn't a main concern for me, but it *would* make a good addition. Also, the faceplate *snaps* in instead of screwing in, and isn't fairly as tight as it could be. Screws would fix that and raise my rating to a great 5. I know these are minor items, but I thought I would mention them here ;) (of course, you can usually add them yourself!) Don't hesitate like I did. I am a *very* picky purchaser, and this was an great deal for the funds and a excellent product!

Works outstanding, I was really shocked by the airflow this factor puts out. Excellent way to get a lot of heat out of your personal computer that usually is close to the top rated of your laptop. I have 4 5.25 slots so I this took up 2 slots, and I was going to place my DVD and CD-rom in the other two. BUT...with this in the best two slots, my CD-rom drive wouldn't fit due to the fact my motherboard was in the way. I have a modest/mid-size case, so you might want a lager case if you are going to use this. 8 GB Patriot PC6400(PDC24G6400ELK), AMD X2 5600, Diamond ATI3870񢦞PE4512SB), Xion 600 W(XON-600F14R-201), Gigabyte motherboard(GA-MA69VM-S2)

Comments: I got this to move two of my really hard drives up to my external bays and hopefully contribute less to the heat on my Pentium four. It was a little dirty inside the packaging but otherwise does its job effectively.

The parts are on par with what I would expect from a ษ-30 construct. I read one particular reviewer complain about the plastic face breaking simply, so I've been gentle with mine. The drives are TIGHT. To my disbelief and in contrary to my prior skepticism, the drives remain cool as can be. Could be that that fan genuinely does the trick? The fan is LOUD. Nevertheless, itcould be replaced with just yet another 80mm case fan of decrease CFM which may well be to the detriment of temps, but my expertise says that tight cooling control is non-superior to no cooling for HDD reliability. For my homebuilt WHS, I've got a Coolermaster CM 690 II which has six three.five" HDD bays and four x five.25" bays. I required to expand to 12 drives. This was a a lot preferred option to the Significantly much more expensive HDD brackets.

low cost, holds three drive in 2 five.25" bays, comes with almost silent fan and filter, had screws for all three drives the front panel is entirely plastic- (LDPE I believe) and held on only by molded plastic clips- mine unit arrived with all the clips broken on on side. One piece of clear duct tape later and the front bezel was firmly in spot. Worth purchasing for any raid to preserve the drives cooler

Quite solid style. Drives match perfectly. The bundled fan (Yate Loon D80SM-12) utilizes a SLEEVE bearing, and as a result is practically assured to seize up soon after a couple of years of continuous operation (mine did). For a "server accessory", this is unacceptable. If you're hunting for long-term reliability, ditch the stock fan and replace it with a high quality ball bearing model.

This infant is perfect for adding HDD space to your case. Fit my P180 just fine. I didn't mess with the packaged fan so i can't comment on that. With an Enermax 80mm in there it's silent. the filter seems to work though it does drastically lessen the airflow. shouldn't be a difficulty because most HDD don't require their personal fan in the initial location. Packaged fan reportedly awful. Front door does feel a bit sketchy even though mine is holding up fine for now. If you need to have to add HDD space this is a cheap and very successful way to do it!

3 HDDs in two five.25 drive bays, Fan to move a decent quantity of air, and a foam filter to preserve the air (and the inside of your box) clean. The filter is easily removed for cleaning (tool-less) from the outside of the case. 80mm fan. 120mm would be greater, but this is an older style from just before 120mm fans became the norm. All HDDs are not designed equal. How thick or thin your drives are will ascertain cooling functionality. Even for thick drives, this will be superior than practically nothing, in particular if your drives have a reputation for running hot.

Will fit three tough drives in two "cd-rom" bays, and fits all my cases. The drives are noisy. Nothing at all is accomplished to handle the noise or the vibration. A substantial quantity of difficult drives bolted to similar piece of metal will raise their seek occasions, and minimize their lifespans, due to vibration. Plastic cones or rubber grommets will get rid of this for pennies. At this price, they must be integrated. For this quality it need to expense less, but it would be a fair price if they took care of the vibration and fan-cord issues.

I purchased two of these for a file server more than a year ago and they operate good. They came with the Molex four-Pin Power Connector as shown in the second image. I like my original two so considerably, I just purchased two more for the very same file server. BUT, for some explanation these two came with three-Pin Energy Connectors instead of the Molex 4-Pin Energy Connector as shown in the second image. I am in the approach of cutting off the 3-Pin Energy Connectors and attaching 4-Pin Energy Connectors. If they wanted to "improve" the item, they should have added the 3-Pin Power Connector to the 4-Pin Power Connector instead of replacing the four-Pin Energy Connector.

Works as advertised. Dropped the temps of my 10,000 RPM scsi drives from 48c,45c to 32c,31c. Quiet.I'll probably buy one more. Front cover can be a discomfort to open. Busted a pin trying to open it.I'm not keen on the bottom plate becoming solid and not open like the leading. To use in an additional machine I may possibly have to mount it upside down due to the way the case airflow is developed. While unit supports 3 drives, I have two drives mounted in an arrangement exactly where air flows on leading and bottom of each. I may well replace fan with a thermaltake sensible fan for the summer season heat. (my personal computer space does not have a/c)

Holds 3 standard HDs in two 5.25" bays. Air filter maintain my case a bit cleaner. None. I wear headphones when I use my pc, mostly for gaming and if that fan is noisy, I don't hear it. HD's are snug in there, no lying there, but there is sufficient space in between them for the air to flow, and that's what it does. Makes the air flow between them and moves them out of the other HD housings. My case is small, and I wanted to place in a larger video card. The new video card would hit the stock HD cage in the bottom. Fortunately that HD cage is easily removed by removing some screws. This did precisely what I necessary it to do. I didn't require hot swap or any fancy features, I just wanted my HD's up in the CD bays where they wouldn't influence the space I wanted to use for a lengthy video card.

It has a filter and the fan is quiet when undervolted. It holds three drives in two ODD spots. There is no space in between the drives when you set up three. There is also no way for air to go in addition to up and over the prime drive. It does what it advertises, but the style of it could have been greater.

Reasonably priced resolution to mount 3 tough drives into 2x5.25 bays. Simply removable filter. Works fantastic in my iStar rackmount instances. Nicely made with the added benefit of cooling your difficult drives. Does extend the drives farther back due to the added fan location. Could be an concern with tiny circumstances. Didn't attempt the stock fan as I replaced it with an Arctic Cooling PWM.

Fantastic notion to have fan cooled hard drive bay. Fan good quality is poor, sleeve bearing fan. Fan speed is not controlled by temperature. Screw holes for mounting this unit into chassis do not align with chassis. Only can screw one particular hole per side. You will need to have to replace the fan with a great good quality ball bearing fan, then drill one particular hole on each and every side to make sure it can securely mounted into chassis.

Greater than a regular 5.25 adapter bracket. The front door is tougher to open than it really should be. the microscopic piece of plastic that is the "hinge" broke off after 3rd opening to clean the filter. The stock fan is not so excellent. the drives are waaays too cramped creating the fan a moot point. there is not substantially adjustment for drive depth which made a wire clearance situation that wasnt vital. good thought. poor execution. there appears to be additional bracket that what was vital. i assume subsequent time i will go a various route.

It's black. The clips that hold the cheap plastic front panel on were broken on both of the heat terminators I bought. This wasn't a big deal, due to the fact they were going in a rack case and I wasn't going to use the front panel anyway. The fan is actually loud, so I replaced it with a greater fan. I just realized that I spent $xx on a metal bracket. Twice. I'm feeling a little applied.

Very good looking, I utilized it to fill in the empty slots and with built in fans is a plus. the product performed as advertised. No Additional filter. I've seen some critiques says the filter cover is hard to open and thats not correct, It will fill tight if you try to PULL it open, the ideal way to open the filter cover is to press down on the tab then pull. hope this data assist.

Added 3 drive slots to my tool-much less case. A lot far better than the clunky 3.5" to 5 " drive adapters None Fan was not needed, because my case is below a slight negative pressure. Other people have complained about the quality of the front drop down door. It's plastic, people today! Go easy with it and you'll have no challenges.

Comments: Wanted to upgrade my case fans to Vantec Tornados, on the other hand simply because of their size, I HAD to discover a way to relocate them in my case. This infant did the trick. Mounted nicely and came with adequate screws to mount it and 3 tricky drives. The fan even on complete blast is silent. Filet element is simply remouvable and appears to be cleanable.Wonderful purchase if your HDD's are overheating, or if your like me, just will need to mount the in a greater spot.Newegg and FedEx were remarkable as usuall!

Quite properly ventilated which keeps drives nice and cool. Doesn't have a energy switch on it. If you want to add three drives in the space of two bays. This item performs effectively. I have a swift release system already so I do not demand hot swap storage bays. On the other hand, at least 1 hot swap dock would be a bit far more convenient.
