Cons: - Very flimsy plastic design- Slower than similar Vantec enclosure- LED indicator behind unit

Pros: - Cheap- 4TB support out of the box
Comment:
Bought this to replace a Vantec enclosure I bricked. Put in a Toshiba 3TB drive, works fine. Speeds aren't as good as I hoped but with USB2 I can't expect much more. The design is pretty cheap though, as is the price. Feels like one drop  would break it. I drop ped the Vantec once with a drive inside, didn't damage in the slightest. You get what you pay for.

Cons: Everything, read the summary below

Pros: Easy to put a hard drive into only to lose everything.
Comment:
Could be the product was defective but this single product seems to cause more problems than anything.Simple answer: Doesn't work or at least mine didn'tLong answer: Tested 3 hard drives with it, only 1 worked and it wasn't the OS drive I pulled from a work system. Meaning the thing wasn't getting sufficient power or it can't provide enough power because on 2 drives, it was give it momentary power before turning off. OS drive used for testing became unusable, simply put, Windows Starter Repair tool took ages to "attempt" to fix and still doesn't work. The enclosure completely destroyed the partition table to the point where the drive, although seen in BIOS, is not detectable at all in Windows. Product has issues with USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, although the manufacturer's forum list are small, they seem to not tell you that even if it works, the enclosure will be detected in one or the other.Maybe i'm the odd statistical person with a bad product, but when it completely renders the hard drive useless and you plan to use this enclosure to be used to backup data onto another computer, this is just a bad product in general. I guess the only note I can say for anyone purchasing this brand is buyer beware, all their other brands of enclosure have some sort of problem. I don't expect any data recovery services from NCIX for this, but i'm just overall disappointed and would strongly urge buyers to look to another brand.

Cons: Disconnects when computer goes to sleep.

Pros: Cheap. Easy to install drive.
Comment:
So I purchased this case after the same case but in aluminium, from Mediasonic was sold out. Installation was fine and although slower than another Lacie external I have, I was okay with it because of the price. This is attached to a Mac Mini and what I'm finding now is that when the computer goes to sleep or after a period of time the drive disconnects and I get a warning on my Mac. I've also used this drive as an external boot drive on the Mac when testing some software. It works until the computer sleeps, then it locks up because the drive disconnects. I believe the power supply is not powerful enough so that if the computer sleeps and the drive is not getting power through USB, it disconnects. Maybe I'm wrong but it sure seems that way to me.

Cons: Cheaply constructed.

Pros: Speeds are accurate to specifications.
Comment:
It's as fast as it said it was, and it's cheap. That being said, it is also very cheaply constructed. Obviously one does not EVER drop  external hard drives to begin with, but if you do don't expect it to ever turn on again if housed in this enclosure.

Cons: Plastic construction, small-length cable,

Pros: Cheap sale price, USB 3.0 compatible
Comment:
Durability reflects the low price. Also quite poor in venting heat- my Seagate Barracuda got VERY hot within minutes of use. This review was modfied by poster @ 07-24-12 01:24 AM

Cons: cheap internal hardware, weak exterior, expensive for its design unless you get it for less than $20

Pros: cheap for a 3tb enclosure, small in size
Comment:
alright, for most of you and the comments before mine theres something to take note of. like i stated in my cons cheap internal hardware and its exactly as i said, there seems to be a internal bottleneck with this enclosure. either THAT or the power supply isnt very powerful. read below.if you were to put a harddrive internally in your PC you'll get say 120mb/s read/write. once you put it into an enclosure you automatically lose speed due to the usb controller. ever thought of usb2.0 480mbps converts to 60MB/S but you only get around 30-35MB/s max? thats the reason.and thats not all. all external usb devices gets reduced speed because of usb controller, this external enclosure bottlenecks. for the newer drives and most 2TB drive size and above (hitachi 7.3k, WD black, seagate barracuda and XT) can easily go to 150mb/s read/write interally and external. ive tested it with many of my harddrives and heres what i found.my hitachi drive which runs at around 140mb/s internally runs at around 120 mb/s in one of my good old enclosure, but runs at only 105-110 max in this cheap enclosure as per HD tune and crystaldiskmark.my barracuda 3TB which is known to easily go to 170mb/s + in read and write, i still get around 105-110mb/s max in HD tune and crystaldisk.ive tested both same drives in a thermaltake enclosure and gave me about 160-170mb/s.so my next thought is, the internal reached a bottleneck? but even if they were to use the slowest pci speed, it SHOULD still overcome a speed of a harddrive. so the problem may lie in the powersupply not providing enough power.i then tested my barracuda 2TB drive, in this cheap enclosure and i get around 140-150mb/s speed which the drive itself is known to go around that speed.it could very well be insufficient power provided by the adapter, or internal bottleneck with the hardware, either one of the two.

Cons: Plastic enclosure.

Pros: Inexpensive.Well vented.Stable support legs. On/Off switch.USB 3.0
Comment:
I don't plan on dropping ANY hard driveon the ground, so the hard plastic enclosureis not a major concern. If you want a lower priced 3.5"/USB 3.0 enclosure, this is the one.For $25.00, . . . 4+ Stars.

Cons: - short USB cable- even shorter ac adapter

Pros: - cheap- USB 3.0 support- easy to install- Lightweight- May fit 2.5" too? I think?
Comment:
Plastic it is. Durability it may not. The plastic case seem like it would break into several pieces if dropped. The cable are very short. However, it does what is intended to do at a cost effective price. I have not tried this enclosure with a 2.5" hard drive, but it looks like it would fit without any problems.

Cons: Feels a bit cheap plastic maybe.

Pros: Sweet enclosure.
Comment:
Does the job perfectly. Good product, for a great price. The only possible thing to find wrong as other reviewers I think mentioned, is that it does feel a bit ... light? Like cheap plastic does sometimes. Having said that, if you are banging it around, the drive inside will be destroyed, so durability shouldn't be an issue. It works awesome!

I can't complain, I wanted a usb3 sata enclosure at rock bottom price, and that's what I got. It works, too, which is nice. Slap a drive in, plug it in, it works. Thumbs up.

Cons: Construction is made of plastic.

Pros: Low cost.It works.
Comment:
The construction of this product isn't that great. It feels like it will crack if you applied a bit of pressure. Would have liked to seen some kind of aluminum/metal parts. But the price was pretty low. You pay for what you get.

Cons: No metal

Pros: Lightweight, simple, venting ports are built into the design nicely, no metal.
Comment:
The hard to say if the no metal is a good or a bad thing for this enclosure but for the base price of 22.87 you shouldnt expect the world. The no metal makes things easy but more prone to damage; but since my other HDD was damaged and it was in an enclosure and fell literally 3 inches, I don't find that to be a very large con if at all... It does the job nicely and the install of the HDD took less than 2 minutes.

Cons: Plastic constructionCheap price = cheap quality. Seriously. The plastic feels quite poor and they've minimized the size as much as they could.

Pros: Cheap - $15!!!USB 3.0 rather than eSATA makes it far more compatible with systems, particularly laptops.
Comment:
For $15, I don't think I can complain much about build quality/construction. It's entirely made of hard plastic and just works.

Cons: -Drive goes to power saving mode after like 30 seconds of inactivity, kind of annoying since it takes a few seconds to spin up again when you want to access it-Casing is very cheap, but when do you expect for the price

Pros: -Pretty fast speeds-Power switch
Comment:
Using a 3yr old 750GB Seagate I was getting 70-80MB reads and 65-70MB writes, so pretty decent speeds for a cheap little enclosure. My main beef is that it spins down the drive after only like 30 seconds of inactivity. Overall it's worth it for the price if you're like me and have an extra drive laying around to put in.

I'm using it with a 3Tb Western Digital Green Drive & HP Windows 7 Pro laptop. When I 1st set it up Windows didn't see an external drive but it saw it in device manager. Called Mediasonic at 18882317899 and got a real live tech after just 3 rings. He talked me through using Windows Disk Management to set the drive as a MBR disk & initializing it. Was using it within 5 minutes. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
