Cons: No scroll for left to right.Scroll wheel needs more to it than being just plain metal.

Pros: On the fly DPI.Adjustable feet and weights.
Comment:
I bought this mouse about half a year ago from some other place besides NCIX for about $50, but I thought I'd share my opinions and criticisms of it here anyways. This is the first "gaming mouse" I've bought and it didn't have that 'Wow' factor to it that I was expecting. First off I'll go into my biggest peeve of all, the hole on the bottom that the laser shoots through. There is a metallic washer that surrounds the hole for the laser that constantly picks up what little dust and hair it can and it eventually gets into the hole where the laser comes out causing all sorts of problems. Usually I'll have to get tweezers to pull out some particularly stuck hairs. Next onto the on the fly DPI. I found that I only needed to go on the fly with a couple presets which were 800 for just regular walking around and then 400 for some precise sniping, but I didn't really see the point to having the much higher DPI settings and hardly used them. As for the weights and different feet that come with it I just used whatever felt right and just left it that way to this day. I guess some people are picky with those things, but I'm not. The mouse can use macros which I usually forget that it even does so sometimes because I usually leave macros to a keyboard. The major breaking point of this mouse is the scroll wheel. Everything feels wrong about it. It's like a nail file shaped into a wheel. Not very pleasing to the touch at all. I believe that some horizontal scrolling would have made this mouse complete. Overall though for the amount of time I've used it I have had a satisfactory experience.

Cons: Feels cheap in your hand, but actually very solid.

Pros: Very accurate and precise, changeable DPI makes gaming better, because you can change how fast you look around on the fly, looks very cool, the red leds make the mouse look like a monster.
Comment:
The Microsoft Sidewinder mouse is perfect for gamers, and anyone who wants a highly precise mouse. I use it for photoshop and it works amazingly. With interchangeable weights, and bottom sliders, this mouse is a great buy!

Cons: REALLY BIG

Pros: Great side buttons and scroll wheel, comes with extra mouse feet and weights and a case for them that doubles as a cable anchor.
Comment:
I didn't really take this mouse seriously until I tried it for myself in the store and liked it. Even so it took some getting used to - this is a BIG mouse.I like how the side buttons are easy enough to press while being just hard enough that you'll never accidentally hit them. Scroll wheel is huge and feels great. The cable anchor is awesome. The extra mouse feet are nice for OCD people like me although I don't use the weights - this thing is heavy enough. The DPI switching buttons came in handy for bioshock and a couple other games where switching sensitivity on the fly is helpful but it's no big deal. Cons: No side scroll

Pros: Great size, very relaxing for the hand.
Comment:
I really like this mouse. I went from a Logitech G5 to this one and I think this is one is much better. I switched because I found the G5 a bit too small and the Sidewinder is a much better fit for me. The two thumb buttons are great and the scroll wheel can actually be used as a button without the risk of scrolling instead of pressing. The only drawback is the lack of side scroll. I like the quirky design but it has somewhat of a low quality feel to it and the red light in the back doesn’t help.

Cons: takes a bit of time to get use to, the ergonomics are a little different than other mouses

Pros: fully adjustable weight and sliding friction. can also change dpi instantly. Thumb buttons design is perfect, all the buttons feels fast and solid
Comment:
The mouse fits a little different than most others, you will be likely to have your hand slanted down on the pinky side with most other mouse, but this mouse you lay your hand flat on top so it feels different and need to get use to it. It works great, and you have to try out different setting on the weights and sliding heels to find out what suits you best. I've tested many setups to find the best for me after a few days.

Cons: for me, none

Pros: 3 sets of feet, adj DPI, weight system, tracks great
Comment:
This mouse is large but I have rather large hands and it fits me great. I like a heavy mouse and this qualifies, even without weights added it is pretty heavy. With 25 grams added it is perfect for me.The 3 individual DPI buttons are good for dirrectly switching to the sensitivity you want. I really like the over/under placement of the back and forward buttons. The scroll wheel feels great and the software for setting all the buttons is easy to work with (haven't tried any macros yet). This mouse will suit palmers more but with big hands it can still be "clawed". It's definitely different but I love it.

Cons: None

Pros: Highly customizable, LCD, gaming
Comment:
This is an amazing mouse for gaming and everyday use, although I must admit this is not as good as the Logitech G7 but still a very decent mouse from MS. For those that can't afford the G7, this is a good alternative.

Take some time to get used to but it's a nice mouse. I chose this over the more expensive Boxed version. Save a buck where you can.

Cons: Way too big (For my "Medium" hands)Bulge on left side makes it hard to lift mouse off pad for low-sense gaming.Mousewheel texture

Pros: Build QualityButtons (I really think the 2 side buttons are excellent... if you can reach them)Appearence (Looks like you have a small spaceship on your desk!)
Comment:
I got this mouse on sale for about $50 and was a fan of the Sidewinder gear back in the day. It was a pretty nostalgic moment and it was a fun product to get.Packaging: Good. Nothing special, the mouse, a manual. It didn't come with a drivers CD which is odd (Especially for a more expensive mouse). There are instructions to go online and download the latest software. They must assume everyone that buys a "Gaming" mouse has net access. The mouse comes with a box to hold the weights and 2 pairs of extra feet, which is an excellent and thoughtful inclusion by Microsoft. The Box also doubles as a cord weight which is again an ingenious and practical idea. I was very impressed. The overall performace of the mouse is stunning. No skipping or jumping. Low sensitivty FPS gaming, while tracking was good, was hindered by the sheer size of the mouse and inability to get a good enough grip (Aka get your pinky to put enough pressure on the side to lift it) on it to pick it up off the mouse pad as frequently as you need to. This is a fault of the material on the left side as well as the large protrusion on the back right half of the mouse.High sensitivity and RTS was a pleasure, as well as mmorpgs.I really like the idea of the two side buttons paralell to one another, but because of my half palm/half finger grip on the mouse I couldn't comfortably reach either of them. If they were 2 cm closer to the back it would be perfect. This could also be attributed to the unnecessarily large and wide back half of the mouse.Overall it's a nice mouse. The build quality and sensor quality seem top notch, though the *Clicks* are loud.I would recommend it to anyone but people who play FPS games with a low sensitivity.Honestly, this is ALMOST the perfect mouse. If the right side of the mouse only had a small bulge instead of the very large one, and a little ridge, or different material it would be the perfect mouse for me. It would make the mouse far easier to wield, and much easier to get my thumb to those side buttons. This review was modfied by poster @ 12-16-07 01:11 AM

Cons: Takes time to get used to it

Pros: Lots of customizationSelectable DPI on the fly
Comment:
This mouse took some time to get used to, but is very adaptable - from the option of different feet (stickier or smoother) to the flexibility of adding weights for the right feel to the ability to change the DPI from 400 to 800 to 2000 on the fly . . . very handy if you are gaming, photo editing or just surfing the web each require a different sensativity. A couple of things to note, this mouse requires a powered usb port so if you are using a KVM there could be issues. If you have smaller hands it takes some getting used to and is not the most comfortable mouse out there. Also there was no software or manual included so off to Microsoft to download the driver . . . still can't find a manual . . . it's why the OEM version is cheaper . . . all in all worth the inconviences.
