Cons: - Gamma shift when looking at it from an angle.- Black crush problem (gray appears jet black, hence causing loss of detail)- Ghosting on FPS games

Pros: - Accurate Color reproduction- The height adjustable stand with tilt and rotation is very nice- Amazing black levels on this monitor.- Decent price - got it for $189.99
Comment:
First of all, the monitor I had before this was a S-PVA Gateway FP2185W with an 8ms response time. Now this Samsung monitor has amazing black levels compared to the gateway. The black levels on the F2380 monitor rival a plasma. I don't know what the last reviewer was talking about saying the blacks were not black enough, but I have a relative who works in the graphics design field for the movie industry. He was actually very impressed with the black levels on this monitor. Its nothing ground breaking compared to the equipment at his studio but for a consumer level lcd its very very good. The biggest problem with this monitor is the "black crush" problem. This is when grays appear too dark and almost black at times causing a severe loss of detail. This can be fixed by bumping the gamma from your graphics card control panel to 1.40. Alternatively, you can also change the gamma through windows 7 color callibration tool if you are running windows 7 on your pc. This fixes the black crush problem on this monitor but if you have a ps3 or xbox connected to this monitor then you are pretty much at the mercy of the games settings (hopefuly the game you want to play gives you a gamma setting to adjust in game)This brings us to the second weakness - gamma shifting. Basically, if you look at the monitor from the left or right the blacks either get too light or too dark. Entire objects can dissapear in a dark scene in a movie. Gamma shifting is very noticeable if you do not "fix" the black crush like stated above. Fixing the black crush does not fix the gamma shift 100%, but it does make it more tolerable. I actually tried a high end TN panel right before I brought it back and got this instead. The viewing angles this provides are still much better than a TN panel. The third weakness this monitor has is ghosting. Now my previous lcd was a S-PVA and also had a 8ms response time. So I can't say I am the best judge for ghosting. However, I did notice that playing dark FPS games really showed the blacks and grays smear against each other when you move around. Now, this never happened on my old lcd with the same response time. I tried all the different response time settings and they didnt really make a difference. Now, when I played an RPG, like Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga or Dragon Age: Origins; no ghosting was noticeable, even in very dark areas. For those of you who have played Divinity II, you know how dark that game gets in certain areas - still no ghosting occurred because the action isn't as fast as an FPS.In conclusion, I am keeping this monitor because I bought it at $189.99 and its 23 inches, and has great color reproduction. The ghosting is fairly noticeable if you play FPS games but the majority of games I play are RPGs so for me it functions just fine. I have already fixed the black crush issue and the monitor is just perfect right now. If I wasnt looking to buy a house, I'd probably buy another one of these for dual screens just for kicks.

Cons: Unsharp, greyish-black text, immediate ghosting on text when contrast or sharpness even slightly increased. Does not work at lower resolutions than normal.

Pros: Very even brightness across screen, 0 dead or bright pixels, excellent viewing angles +/= 30 degrees in any direction, decent colour with some tweaking of Gamma (graphics card software), excellent adjustable stand.
Comment:
Well I purchased this to replace a 5-year-old Dell Ultrasharp 20" IPS monitor. I didn't want to shell out the $400 to $500 for a new IPS panel. Boy, was I wrong!! Sorry, but cPVA just doesn't cut it. If you're spending this kind of extra dollars for a professional graphics monitor you would expect the text and line resolution to be sharp, contrasty and BLACK -- not grey. I am a professional graphic artist and after 3 days of trying to make this monitor even marginally useable, I threw in the towel. The ghosting on the text is unbelievable at anything above normal contrast or sharpness. Also, forget about anything below the standard resolution--lowering this even 1 notch to 1680x1040 and the text becomes unreadable. So, "caveat emptor" as they say, I tried to cheap out and I lost. Now I'm biting the bullet and saving up for another IPS monitor.

Cons: Ghosting

Pros: Decent priceExcellent contrast & viewing angles
Comment:
I wish laptops had screens like this - none of that color inversion you get even looking at extreme angles from the top or bottom. Great real contrast ratio of 3000:1As for ghosting obviously different people have different opinions of this monitor, for me it's great for desktop use and I've never noticed it watching movies but I can't play FPS games on it at all. Tried to play some Doom 3 on it and I had to hook up my old 22" with the TN panel because the ghosting was so bad.

Cons: none

Pros: 3000:1 static ratioHAS stand
Comment:
I am really glad i bought this monitor. Been wanting it for a long while and it was finally on sale for boxing day. Great panel, the 3000:1 static ratio really shows itself, the colours are definitely better when i compared it to my samsung T240. I do some picture editing/screening after shooting with my DSLR and this monitor really helps me out. If i had the money i would buy 3 of these for eyefinity. As far as ghosting, i haven't watched movies on it yet but youtube seems to be fine. The HAS stand is really convenient when reading long documents/pdfs and for web pages. It would be great if it could automatically switch between landscape and portrait on the computer via a USB connection but even without it this is a really good monitor for the price it is at right now.

Cons: Need calibration for accurate color work. But stock settings are almost good enough.

Pros: Good quality panel; accurate colors after caliberated and 2 DVI-D digital ports
Comment:
This is a great panel for video and photo editing -- I work in this industry for more than 2 decades so I know the quality of this panel is superb for its price after it is calibrated. The 2 DVI-D ports are good if you work with a Mac and PC and I use them exclusively for accurate work. Who connects VGA for professional work?!? The display quality is just as a good or close as my very own Panasonic 42" HDTV Alpha-IPS panel for photo display.

Cons: - Weak stand- Jiggly

Pros: + Affordable+ Good colours
Comment:
I bought this for a build for my cousin and it's actually a very decent monitor. It's not as good as other monitors but for the price, it's excellent. I would totally buy this for myself!Although the stand would be very annoying, it's weak and it's very jiggly but other than that, it's an awesome monitor.

Cons: H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E ghosting!

Pros: Contrast (once brightness and contrast are adjusted), colors (once calibrated)...
Comment:
... and I am in no way exagerating! Even MOVIES are not watchable; remanescence and ghosting are so bad they even produce audio/video desync! (I had a Samsung 225BW and this F2380 side by side in clone mode on a Radeon 5850).If you do desktop work, browse the net and like to look a lot at pictures, this model would be nice, but If you like to watch movies/TV shows/play games, the response time is FAR from the spec'ed 8ms, but this is not NCIX' fault... blame samsung for building a PVA monitor without a frame precharging unit (which buffers one of two frame in advance and precharges pixels to reduce ghosting, but introduce input lag...)

Cons: Black Crush problem (Google this)

Pros: Best contrast ratioPVA panel, thus no vertical gamma shift (from looking up and down on the display while sitting in your chair)PVA panel, thus 8 bit higher colour gamut (true sRGB)HAS - height adjustable stand that rotates 90 degrees for portrait modeGaming - people say it has lag issues, I have not found that in casual FPS gaming
Comment:
The non-TN panels are considered pro grade and demand a price premium. This release by Samsung has brought that higher panel tech to the lower budget person (like me).Everything I read on the monitor said it was great but suffered from the black crush 'flaw'. That would be dark grey being black. I read this is mostly fixable with using a proper hardware colour calibration device. I already calibrate my monitors (pro photographer) so felt that I would give this display a try. I am quite pleased with it, and yes ... colour calibration is mandatory for any monitor ... but on this one it helped correct the black crush. I have this display sitting next to my old Samsung 22inch 1680x1050 (16:10) LCD which is 700:1 contrast and TN. Before calibration, big difference. This display showed darks much much darker and the colours had more 'pop' to them. After calibration, there is very little difference between the two. If I had paid more $$ for the more expensive PVA/IPS displays and saw this little difference after calibrating the display, I would have been a bit pissed. The reason there is little difference is because the TN displays do quite a good job with colour already, even if they aren't showing the full sRGB colour spectrum. But having the height adjustable stand is really nice and having no vertical gamma shift when I look from top to bottom of the display is a HUGE improvement (mandatory for pro photo work) ... and the extra contrast is just slightly noticable ... not huge (after calibration) ... but noticable enough to be pleased with a slightly higher contrast ratio.A great buy when on sale and would get again (needs to be calibrated however).I really recommend getting a pro calibration tool (even something cheap like a Pantone Huey for $100) is well worth it if you care about colour accuracy (as monitors are setup to look good when on display in a store so they are config'd to unrealistic saturation and brightness ... thus need to be calibrated when you have them at home/office). Cons: The image lags quite a bit with moving images.

Pros: PVA quality monitor at a very affordable price.
Comment:
It lacks bells and whistles but it's the most affordable PVA monitor you can find right now. The image lags quite a bit with moving images. Makes for a very good secondary monitor but not so much a primary one.

At first I wasn't too impressed by the colors at all. Turns out a little calibration makes this monitor really good. As I said the stand is really good for the price.

Cons: Horrible ghosting problem, very slow response time, extreme black crush, huge gamma shift when viewed from different angles (170 degrees is a joke)

Pros: Great still image picture quality, excellent contrast

Excellent for designers who view mostly static images but this image is unbearable for any moving images such as games or movies.

Cons: Wish it were 24". Makes my 931c look old and crappy.

Pros: Great Color, Clarity & Contrast. Rotates, Has Height Adjustment, Dual DVI Inputs (Plus VGA) good viewing angles New generation PVA (cPVA)
Comment:
I use it for Graphic Design & Video Work so I needed a monitor with good color reproduction. This things blows my existing 931c's away in almost every respect. Text is crisp, colors accurate even at different angles. It really makes my 931c (which was good in it's day) look like crap. I had dual 931c's and I upgraded one of them to the F2380. I have a hard time looking at the 931c anymore.Contrast ratio is 3000:1 which is a great number for static.Brightness is 300cd/m2 which is good as well.At less than $300 ($239 boxing day!) on sale don't wait to pick this up if you need a PVA monitor. It might not be the best for gaming (haven't tried), but has to be one of the best values for graphic/photo/video/office/work. I'm still amazed by this thing.

Cons: - response time (too much ghosting)- not a gamer monitor- no hdmi, no rca input, no usb hub

Pros: - image quality - good viewing angle (PVA)- amazing stand (full adjustable)- very good contrast ( very good dark)- good quality vs money
Comment:
perfect for movies, contrast and black rendering are excellent. Color rendering are bright and very good.the screen size are perfect for HD movies or video. Thank samsung for matte screen! ( sunny room or direct light are not a problem with this monitor)For hardcore gamers, don't buy it. the monitor response time is very slow and they have a lot of ghosting effect during fast game like crysis. The F2380 are not a gaming monitor.SO very good quality vs money monitor. cheap for this quality.
