Absolutely beautiful monitor, vibrant colours, great design, 1440p gives you lots of real estate, and absolutely gorgeous to game on. Will need a descent video card to game with though keep that in mind.

Cons: "Fastest" setting for Response Times causes Ghosting instead of preventing it, Best setting is "Faster"Pricey, But so worth it :)

Pros: Great simple flat black design.Great colour reproduction.Very bright out of the box.Light sensor with Motion Sensor.Actual buttons, Well designed into the Bezel. ECO Power Saving Features.Good Response times.Sturdy well designed stand.PBP Picture by Picture.
Comment:
The Samsung SyncMaster A850DS came out of the box with great colours and picture.Brightness was very bright at first but with ECO and picture settings allowed to get a great picture while conserving energy.Light sensors can be enabled allowing you to reduce eyestrain by adjusting screen brightness to match the surrounding environment. The ECO Motion Sensor allows the monitor to automatically dim, then power off, but then power back on once it detects anyone.ECO power savings reduce up to 40% energy consumption, which allows the monitor to run cool all day without reducing picture quality. Response times are good enough to play all types of Pc games, So far I've tried Battlefield 3, Assassin's Creed 3, Shank 2, All looked and played great. One note with Gaming is under Monitors settings "Picture>Response Time", The "Fastest" setting for Response Times causes Ghosting instead of preventing it, The best setting is "Faster"A neat feature is Picture by Picture (PBP) which enables you to connect two different video sources into the monitor and split it into two 1280x1440 screens. Overall this is a great monitor that I would highly recommend to others looking for a large 27" IPS monitor, It's pro's outweigh the con's easily and Mine luckily arrived with zero dead pixel's.

Cons: blacks are not consistent across the monitor. More than negligible blacklight bleed.

Pros: Stunningly minimal industrial design. 2560x1440 very high dpi display. Clear and bright. Incredible color reproduction out of box. No perceivable input lag or ghosting. Real control buttons. Sleek and beautiful. Great viewing angles.
Comment:
Beautiful minimalist design, bright, ultra high dpi, incredible viewing angles and color reproduction, no lag. Prefect, but for inconsistent black levels. Noticeable bright patches detract from dark images.

Cons: None so far

Pros: Excellent Color, no image lag noticeable in game, bright, no ugly anti reflective coatings, great connections, and great stand.
Comment:
Excellent monitor, I would recommend to anyone. I wish it was 120hz 3D but the only available 3D models are not 2560X1440 PLS except for a few korean ones but I don't trust the reliability.

Pros: Game look fantastic at 2560X1440 resolutionI like the pivot function.usb3 hub
Comment:
I like the pivot function. Nice to read book or to write office document with full page viewNot a con, but you need an high end video card to play games on max details at 2560X1440 resolution. Pushed my Gtx 570 to the limit, but now i got 2 GTX 670 (SLI) from boxing day :)

Cons: 16:9 resolution

Pros: Nice resolution, fairly small footprint, dependable brand
Comment:
Slightly annoyed at the 16:9. Not everyone wants crazy widescreen resolutions. Would have preferred 2560x1600But when it comes to a decent resolution overall, a reasonably small footprint and good colour reproduction, this is an amazing monitor.

Cons: Price

Pros: Great Picture QualityNice Matte FinishSize
Comment:
You get what you pay for, this monitor can be expensive but you pay that premium for excellent picture quality and the size. PLS is nearly identical to IPS and the matte finish on this monitor is excellent with no very little (almost not noticeable) 'grainy' effect from the AG.After using it for a month I'm still very happy with my purchase, and was lucky enough to get one without any dead pixels or excessive backlight-bleed (as the ones in fall 2011 had).

Cons: Dead pixels are common with the new large format IPS screens. *Slight back-light bleed at oblique angles.

Pros: Superb colour reproduction and contrast*. Highly adjustable stand, and solid construction. Anti-glare finish.
Comment:
This is a fantastic monitor. The colour and clarity is superb. Excellent for photo and video editing. The Anti-glare is the best mat finish I've ever come across. It is so fine it appears almost like gloss, producing clean, shimmer free picture.*People often report back-light bleed, it is due to the polarization in IPS technology. This effect causes reduced contrast, but only when not viewed straight on and it causes no distraction to me.I recommend using Display Port, as DVI appears to have a switching issue (at least with ATI cards) which cause icons to shuffle when switching users, as thought the source were switched to 1080p.I also recommend getting the dead-pixel insurance. As this is very new display technology and I know from experience this monitor has a higher likelihood of having some. All and all, a very nice monitor.

Cons: Inconsistent backlight. Only 27 inches. Not an OLED.

Pros: Good pixel density. No noticeable ghosting. No HDMI (I guess to save royalty costs.) Comes with a dual-link DVI cable.
Comment:
From what I had been reading online I was expecting this monitor to have way better picture than an old Samsung 213T (which was the best picture in it's day). However, the picture quality is nearly the same as my old model with the exception of pixel density. For solid (ex: black and white) and near solid (vertical gradients) color images such as webpages this monitor produces inconsistent color throughout the screen. I believe it is due to the backlight not being uniformly pressed or positioned with the lcd. It is like backlight bleeding except the defect takes up nearly half of the screen. On a white background there would be different gradients of off-white per four corners of the screen. And no, it is not because of the angle that I am at relative to the screen. The effect is not noticable on video images.I like the bevel. The menu buttons and bevel are made up of one piece of plastic. Smart and sleek.A surprise feature to me. It appears this monitor can display images from two different inputs side by side.To Samsung: I recommend you reinforce this monitor with more rigid plastic or a flatter backlight if possible.

Cons: Very bright out of box, needs calibration

Pros: Has stand, Usb 3.0 hub, external connections from side vs bottom
Comment:
Very happy with this monitor after calibration as per TFTCentral.co.uk review. Brightness is set to max out of box. HAS stand is a must for any monitor and very handy to have a usb 3.0 hub. On screen menu is easy to use and control buttons are front & center on the bottom bezel. Hydra vision works very nice with a monitor of this size. Excellent colour and resolution. No backlight bleed problem and no regrets purchasing this monitor.

Cons: 3 ft. dvi cable.

Pros: superb picture,easily ajustable,good connections.
Comment:
This monitor blows anything else I've seen right out of the water. I don't have any problems with it except the short little DVI connection cable that comes with the unit, for this kind of money they should at least be 2M. I ordered a mini display port cable for my graphics cards and I can put my computer where it belongs. I use photo shop a lot and the color gamut of this monitor is perfect for what I do. I am really happy with this product.

Cons: Potential back-light bleed problems, but mine was great.16:9 is very wide at 27". I prefer 16:10. It is really quite odd how computer monitors have now adopted the 16:9 aspect ratio of televisions as the 16:9 ratio was not chosen because it is best for viewing, rather because no one had used it before everyone in the industry would be on an equal footing to start production following the new standard.

Pros: No anti-glare fuzziness2560x1440LED backlit with excellent colour gamutFantastic external power supply design that makes the power supply independently replaceable, yet clips into the back of the monitor. Also, the power supply does not hum like many 2560 by X class monitors do.
Comment:
This is a fantastic monitor if you get one without back-light bleed problems. I think that monitors with problems are a small minority, but in this price range you don't want anything short of perfection. The anti-glare coating on most IPS-type displays that frustrated me to no end is gone. The display fixes that problem while managing to remain non-glossy so that reflections do not appear unless you are working in direct sunlight.

Cons: Needs calibration.

Pros: Beautiful design, IQ is excellent. Fast response and good for gaming.
Comment:
If you calibrate this monitor, it is the best 27 LED on market. Need to change the settings to Gamma 2, Brightness 56, Contrast 75, sharpness 64 and color Red 34, Green 42, Blue 46. With this settings picture is excellent. I tried PS3 and can not see any ghosting. For video editing it is a must monitor !

Cons: It requires an ac adapter to power it, standard power cable will not work.Font on desktop appears to be slightly blurry and not as crisp as compared to the dell 2711

Pros: One of the cheapest 2560x1440 monitors out there
Comment:
I personally already own the dell 2711 which also is 2560x1440. I don't know if i am just used to the dell one but the font on windows appears much crisper and clear compared to the Samsung despite the size and resolution being identical. The font in any type of game however does not suffer from this, only strictly desktop font. When i game full screen on the dell, in this example, final fantasy 14, there was mad screen tearing during certain cut scenes. On the Samsung monitor, the screen tearing was kept to a minimal, although u could still notice it, its MUCH better performance compared to the dell. The last thing I noticed was the material used for the screen on the dell, had more of a grainy effect, which can only be noticed on certain colors, while on the Samsung there was no grainy effect at all, rather more of a shiny effect. I don't know if this is the cause for the font being not as crisp as the dell's but yeah, go for this Samsung if u plan to play full screen games at 2560x1440 over the dell This review was modfied by poster @ 11-29-11 06:31 PM
