The few reviews out there indicate this point screams on RAID with 12 SSD's. Who the heck can afford 12 SSD's, although? It's not apparent from any of the documentation for this card, but LSI does NOT assistance its use with "desktop difficult drives." If you search hard sufficient, you can come across a note on their web site to that effect. The compatibility list on their internet site does not list just about any of the newer, bigger customer difficult drives--specifically those in the 1.five - 2 TB range. I fought with this card for numerous days just before obtaining this out.

Operates with non enterprise drives. The mega raid storage manager for windows is decent.Presently testing distinct raid arrays making use of the Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX. two drives operating raid @ 64k stripe and quick stroked to 600gb hits 250MB/s avg, max = 264MB/s, min = 244MB/s. Just ordered 4 additional of the WD Caviar Black WD1002FAEX drives. four of these ๳ drives in raid really should virtually double the above numbers.Shooting for four drives in raid + short stroked. 2 drives in raid 1 for backups. The card adds a handful of seconds to OS bootup. -> To be expected...Doesn't come with the battery backup which is essential to use the much better caching alternative -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816118118Its still a fantastic controller w/o the bbu despite the fact that I ordered one. SSD's have however to prove themselves in workstation or server environments. And frankly their just to tiny for the media I operate with.

I Would recommend this card for certain.. I Wish. I Wish! newegg would have neighborhood pickup. I ordered this card from someplace else and picked it up from someplace since i am too impatient to wait two days to get it from newegg. PLEASE! PLEASE! Begin local pickup.... handles OCZ Vertex Turbo SSD drives. has very good drivers for Linux (Centos five). I had to use this card since Adaptec 5808 did not perform with SSD drives No Drivers for Centos/Redhat 5.4, (I utilized five.three) so they are not swift to update drivers. Application is not that user friendly (compare to StorMan). I did not see striping 鳀K, 512K..) possibilities in the plan. Bios setup does not operate (gets bypassed no matter what). I have 2 VTXT30G stripe for testingI timed employing ICH10R and this card, employing oracle database, centos five.4 64Bit Asus P5Q-EM, Intel 9650this card offers no study overall performance advantage more than ICH10R. and it is slower than ICH10R on delete records and files by element of 5%. the SSD firmware is 1.4, the supposed firmware 1.41 for raid is not readily availablethe striping is rather an important choice for SSD drives. tested this card with Direct I/O and also with cache enabled with quite substantially same resaults

Absolutley blazing functionality for Raid SSD's. Small footprint and runs cool. Kit comes with all the cables and so forth.Yes my set-up is about a 񘐜 investment, but if you have to have the efficiency, it is affordable. Does not contain the BBU, but for the cost versus functionality, you can't honestly complain. Get the BBU right here, it is worth it. Some motherboards will not let access to the bios at boot, but it is a limitation of the board, not the controller. I just installed my OS on a single difficult disk to the board's controller, set up my array in the LSI software in windows, then switched to boot off the controller in the bios when I installed the OS. A discomfort, but the acquire is well worth it.My technique for ref:Intel 975 EEAsus P6T WS Expert12GB Corsair Dominator4X OCZ Vertex 2 in 128K RAID

Quickly and stable. Windows XP x86 will not install either with slipstreamed drivers or drivers on USB floppy. Installation finds drivers either way, but then offers message "Cannot copy the file megasas.sys". LSI support will not assist unless 1 is making use of one of a smaller quantity of approved, mostly server motherboards.SAS BIOS has difficulty getting into setup if as well many devices are enabled in the motherboard BIOS. This occurred with both ASUS Rampage III Intense and Rampage II Intense motherboards. The workaround was to disable devices in the motherboard BIOS, run the SAS BIOS setup, reboot, and re-allow devices. LSI tech assistance mentioned that this tended to be a problem running on non-server motherboards mainly because of limited motherboard BIOS memory. I'd give a 5-egg-rating for efficiency and 1-egg rating for tech support, at least for non-industrial users, so I compromised on three.

Cons: SFF ports are badle placed for a clean build in a regular chasis. The management software is not meant for beginers. Pricey

Pros: Industry class, raid 60, onboard cache, 6Gbps, 128 drive support (with extender), audible alarm, remote management

I am replacing a Adaptec 5805 controller with this LSI 9260. Card runs ALOT cooler than the 5805 and it performs properly with SSD drives. I have it running with four OCS Agility EX in a raid and it runs Rapid Not to undesirable but the BIOS is type of like a Internet Interface. The default raid configuration is Raid 6, so make certain you change it Overall a extremely nice card, and crazy fast with SLC SSD drives.

ZERO I totally hate this card and LSIThis card fried all my SSD's which now will need to RMA'dLSI tech support is worthless. Their web page is dis-organized and hard to navigate. This card does not function on any of 8 motherboards I have attempted it on. LSI support people only know how to present these words: "It ought to be your motherboard" or "We don't support that". They seem not to care about fixing their half baked buggy firmware or buyer satisfaction. This has got to be the absolute worst item of ANY kind I have ever purchased in my 45years of residing.RUN from this card and LSI. I will Never ever buy something with their name on it once more.

This is a rock solid Raid card. I am presently employing it for 2 raid five volumes, each and every has 4 1.5 TB Seagate tough drives (consumer tricky drives). Both read and write speeds are in excess of 280MB p/s. I am using 64K stripe on one and 128K on the other. I have completely tested the card to see how it handles drive failures such as: removing drive improperly and then placing back in. You have the ability to set properties like rebuild priorities and so forth. The card can rebuild a 1.5TB tough drive from a raid 5 or 6 in under 5hrs. Less than admirable overall performance when striping across 8 drives (raid ቜ) I tested a handful of distinct stripe sizes. It is especially slow when cache isn't enabled and your copying\reading smaller files. I would advise this card to anybody who want solid efficiency and is prepared to spend for it. I will also advise getting the backup batter unit (BBU) if you want to allow cache and still have a greater level of security if your technique losses power.

The specs speak for themselves. If you're an experienced RAID5 or greater user, then you know the specs are fantastic. The Management software is worse than pathetic. As a linux user; Only installable on SuSE or Redhat and even then, the package is not a total, properly written package, effectively including dependencies. It's someplace halfway among an installation package and a tar.gz install. csh shell scripts in an installation? Are you kidding me?Then, right after suffering the installation, the software program itself is poorly written java with numerous text files getting 777 permissions set. Really sad. As a poweruser with an 11TB house media server, this is my 3rd 3ware/LSI item from four port ATA to 8 port 9650SE to this 9260-8i.The 9650SE management software program is bulletproof, allowing me to configure SSL for the mail server, migrating from RAID5 to RAID6, adding disks, by no means any issues.Issues from day 1 on the 9260.After attempting to configure the mail server my installation hung and needed to be uninstalled/reinstalled to repair.Biggest Situation: No clearly published list of supported motherboards! Once again LSI, just actually SAD.It's back to Adaptec or Areca for me.

Fantastic RAID card, use with 4x2TB WD RE-4GP more than 6 months without having any problem. Immediately after updating to it most recent firmware, setup was a breeze. Did play around with various RAID setups (unplug challenging drive, hot swap, rebuilt time, etc) and settle with RAID 5. Read around 380 MB/s and write around 120 MB/s. The technique is for NAS and on 24ǝ. None! Was a tiny worried at initially about it compatibility with RE-four considering that there are no supporting document on it and many have claimed that this card have troubles with 2TB challenging drives.Other components:Antec 1200 situationZotac Mini-itx 775 motherboardIntel Pentium 430 Ƒ.8 GHz, single core)two GB ram240 Watt PSU ࿵% Efficiency)The system idle about 60 watts and peak around 85 watts (simulate 70% read and 30% write with prime 95 on the background).

Card is solid. MegaRAID Storage Manager software program is robust. Tech help is really fantastic. The webbios interface takes some performing to puzzle by way of. It raises the case temp a smite. Installed the LSI 9260-8i in my unsupported Asus P6T Deluxe motherboard. Right after switching the MB bios to raid and generating the LSI card bootable, I had no difficulty entering the cards webbios or moving aroung in it was a wireless Logitech mouse. and initilized raid with two 600GB WD Velociraptors.Employed Acronis with universal restore and booted successfully into Vista 64. After operating through some driver and other sundry difficulties, I identified that I was obtaining the very same disk read speeds (benchmarked with HD Tune Pro) as ahead of with a single drive. Friendly and knowledgable 24ǝ Tech assistance suggested that I allow the write-back cache and that additional than doubled my disk read speeds. One particular representative kindly invited me to call back any time. The LSI co-exists with the ASUS U3S6 USB three. & SATA 6Gb/s Add-on card generating it achievable to add single tough disks to the program and use USB3. At least it did on my method.

Ha, not likely This cards barely works. The software program interface is horrible. If you have an problem with this card as I have, LSI will just point to the compatibility list saying your product is not on it instead of helping to really fix the issue. Their firmwares are buggy. Do not flash to newest versions as LSI techs advocate not making use of them. You know, I actually read numerous comments on various forums about this card prior to I purchased. No exactly where did I see a hint to the plague of difficulties this controller has. Eureka, I wish I had purchased something else!!!!Run from this firm and it's poor merchandise!!!!
