NOTE: FAN CAN BE SILENCED!!!! Get a program called "1810tray" I don't like this because it's not a netbook. In theory the size/weight seems ok but in practice it's nowhere near as portable as my old 8.9" netbook, or most 10.2" netbooks. Also a bit on the heavy side.So really it's not so much a netbook as it is a small laptop. Unfortunately there are no 1366x768 10.2" models in canada (Dell's new mini is overpriced and like a furnace)I will be ditching this machine once some 10.2" HD netbooks with 6-8hrs battery life are released.Overall, this is a really nice machine. It is fast as hell. File transfer speeds are quick, unzipping archives is nearly instataneous. Really in terms of user experience, it is comparable to my Quadcore desktop (of course the quadcore destroys it in any intensive tasks)4GB ram and 320GB HDD are more than adequate. BT and Wifi work great. HD decoding is very fast. You can use the preinstalled powerdvd codec in Media Player Classic so no need to buy coreavc.Keyboard is nice, strange at first but then you realize that you're typing quickly and accurately. Trackpad is poor. Seems that the sensitivity is variable, may be fixable with tweaks in the settings pages.Battery life is about 6 hours, hopefully it will improve. Would love a monster battery (that sticks out the bottom) for true all day computing.

Bought this laptop as a replacement for my Macbook Pro.. and I haven't been disappointed. It still looks like my macbook pro with the brushed metal and black keyboard. The keyboard feels awesome. Great for typing on. Nice and responsive. The quality of this laptop is very good for it's price. The display is nice and bright and looks good. Decent sounding speakers. Nice and fast Wireless N and bluetooth too.. can't beat it.Price matched for $50 less.. can't go wrong.Highly recommended laptop!

Cons: Occasionally gets a corrupted screen when sleeping. (Due to a Windows 7 driver update). Reboot fixes it.

Pros: Fast processor and nice sized keyboard. Wakes quickly. Wireless N is nice to have.

I purchased this unit as a refurb, and love it. I used it just the other week to do presentations with at a conference and there was no problem displaying to the LCD projector, playing DVD material via WMP, and MPG via Quicktime. I enjoy being able to type at a relatively normal speed, given the size of the keyboard. The unit is quiet, with fan noise hardly ever evident.I set this machine up briefly under Ubuntu, and after a few tweaks, it ran nicely. It's currently running Windows 7 Business, and handles everything I throw at it without issues.I find it significantly faster than my wife's netbook, but only slightly larger. For anyone who needs a small notebook, but doesn't want to make compromises for a netbook, this is a must have.

Cons: Flimsy bilingual keyboard

Pros: LightPowerful for it's sizeGreat battery Life
Comment:
Overall I'm very satisfied in my purchase. The dual band 5Ghz capable wireless N card gives me a fantastic connection in my 2.4Ghz flooded building. It is quite fast for it's compact size, and the build quality seems to be on par with other brands. The bilingual keyboard takes some time to get used to and the keyboard itself flexes under light pressure making me a bit uneasy, but the rest of system seems solid enough.Full version of the pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium with 64bit support runs GREAT on the system.

Cons: Keyboard layout took a while to get used to.First one was returned due to a vertical line down center of LCD, but NCIX took care of it....replacement was fine.

Pros: Fast, powerful processor compared to netbooks.Great Screen.HDMI out.Windows 7.Full Size Keyboard.Good Battery Life.Doesn't get too hot.Power adapter is small.
Comment:
Fast processor. Not at all like a netbook. Can install pretty much any standard software and run with no problems.Had great service from NCIX.....had to return the original due to an LCD problem. Windows 7 and 4 GB ram performs well.Keyboard took a while to get used to, but no problems now.The original laptop had a vertical line running down the center of the LCD. Returned it to NCIX and they sent another one out the next day.... This review was modfied by poster @ 01-11-10 10:36 PM
