Cons: - Not as snappy as a comparable i7 or SSD laptop.
Pros: - Nice looking exterior.- Sturdy build (no plastics)- Standalone Vid Card Comment:
Needed a new laptop primarily for school work. Picked this up for $699 which is pretty decent for 2nd gen i5 w/ a standalone radeon card. Works fine for what I need and outside of the beats branding on the back, looks pretty nice. I would recommend it to anyone at a similar price. |
Got one last night.Good: Nice build quality. I like the feel of the keyboard and how compact this laptop seems to be compared to my Lenovo Y450. The dedicated video card isn't that fast, but you can play modern games on low/medium settings I guess. Battery lasted about 3 hours under moderate-heavy use. Bad: As expected, comes with a lot of bloatware. I used about an hour to remove the bloat and now it runs a lot better. The screen is very glossy and reflective, and that's my main gripe with the unit. The speakers are completely overrated. Even though it's a "Beats" product, there's nothing special about the sound.Overall, a solid laptop that was way overpriced when it first came out. At this price, it's decent. You wouldn't buy it for the hardware alone, but the combination of build quality + a dedicated vid card makes it a solid purchase.
