It looks cool. Thats about it. I am really upset with the product. It worked long sufficient to load Windows 7. Following the unit rebooted I installed the ASUS drivers disc, the unit would not boot back up soon after the reboot. Just sat in my new case flashing its red angry eye at me. The manual did not have any LED flash trouble codes at all. This was my initial ever ASUS purchase and I am not certain if I will buy once again. The ASUS web-site is way to complicated and demands to be change for the clients sake. They will need to take notes from the ASRock web site. Almost everything was handle promptly without having all the mass complications when I had to get a motherboard replacement from ASRock.

Fairly substantially everything, even though I prefer a blue color scheme alternatively of red. On-board X-Fi chip is a main plus for any micro-atx board, but in particular 1156 & 1366 boards since so a lot of call for you to leave 1 of the pci-e 16x slots empty or just fill them both with dual-slot vid cards (if you know what's good for you). Either way, I hate wasted slots! On the plus side, at least the leading slot will run at a complete 16x as opposed to other boards. None, other than the slot configuration mentioned above. That's type of expected though. The whole point behind me even posting a review is to clarify a thing for these who don't get it! 1156 boards are made so that the pci-e 16x can communicate directly with the CPU, therefore eliminating the north bridge. However, it would most probably be also substantially of a burden for present cpu's to handle the bandwidth of two pci-e slots in 16x mode which is why running SLI or CrossFire reduces the bandwidth to 8x. Some mobos will only let you run at 8x regardless of which slot you use because it's less complex and most most likely saves money. The moral of the story, do your homework and don't ding something simply because you didn't.

Comes with every little thing but the kitchen sink in a small form factor! Seems to possibly be some build good quality troubles. I purchased this as portion of a DIY project--my 5th assembled personal computer. Nevertheless, in contrast to previous builds, this time it refused to post. It just kept cycling in between powered-on and powered-off.I took the complete point to 2 different nearby shops to verify my perform, and both said they believed my issue was the mobo. The second shop even stripped it down per the recommendations on ASUS' web page and tested each and every component, then tested the mobo with elements listed on ASUS' encouraged memory and CPU lists. Nevertheless exact same behavior. All the parts I purchased worked just fine when put onto a diverse motherboard. And, of course, mainly because I have the patience of a 5-year-old, I ripped my packaging when I initially opened the box, violating newegg's explicitly stated rules about obtaining a replacement solution. I'm now in the procedure of obtaining support from ASUS. As for newegg, the solution arrived unbelievably swiftly and with no harm. As generally, wonderful costs and rapidly service.

Boots. Has power and reset buttons on the motherboard. Study even though the manual (all 170 pages) with a fine toothed come just before thinking about acquiring. Very first off, if you're installing only one particular graphics card, the manual recommends using only the top rated slot for functionality causes. Given that it presents no further explanation, I'm guessing the bottom slot is genuinely an eight-lane slot with a 16-slot with, and only to be used in Xfire configuration (which then pulls its eight lanes from the prime slot, limiting the prime slot to 8 lanes). Considering that all contemporary cards are dual slot, this prevents you from utilizing the PCIe two x4 slot promptly under the prime x16 slot. Also, be cautious what RAM you acquire with this. I purchased 4 sticks for a total of 8GB (model F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH), but motherboard only sees 4088MB. Manual says, "Due to Intel Spec X.M.P.DIMMs and DDR-1600 are supported for one DIMM per channel only (another catch that's tough to discover)," but even at 1333MHz it nonetheless just sees 4088MB on the oldest (original) or most up-to-date BIOS! Cost me ุ to RMA the RAM, and far more importantly, time. Going to acquire something that's 1333MHz and only that I've heard other persons advocate as functioning (all 8GB visible). Viewed as RMAing the motherboard alternatively, but it's more difficulty to eliminate, repack, and ship than the RAM. This is the last ASUS board I buy--at the quite least they will need to make the catches in the manual (reguarding PCIe overall performance and 1600MHz RAM) way far more apparent.

Amazing board here. Overclocks my i7 860 larger than my EVGA P55 E652, but working with similar voltages as last board. This board makes use of 10pwm instead of the standard 8pwm that just about all other P55 boards use. It also has the built in X-Fi Supreme, and it does not take up any pci slots. This tends to make it easier to CF or SLI due to the fact you wont want to put in a sound card, (unless you are a correct audiophile.) So far I am able to get my i7 860 up to 4.2ghz at 1.45v. Havent tried higher though. Incredibly pleased thus far. None Ideal mATX P55 mobo on the market place.

Has a lot of potential on paper... Equivalent to Scott, I have trouble finding this to run dual channel memory reliably, either at stock SPD speeds or the advertised speed of the XMP profile for QVL listed memory modules. In my case it seems like it is the A1 dimm socket that is bad. I've spent 3 weeks so far swapping elements attempting to narrow down any other fault in the build, but can not come across any other concern. Each stick tests fine by itself, and can run single channel in B1/B2. Now I have to make a decision to attempt to RMA to newegg or ASUS and the 30 day rebate period is virtually up. Ugh... Operating i5-760 at stock speeds, stock HSF, not overclocked, Attempted G.Talent and Corsair memory, booting straight into Memtest 4.1 off of USB stick. Err-Bits 00008000. OCZ600MXSP supply

My system is functioning now, 14MB/s at DDR3-1600 XMP. It took a lengthy time to figure out what the true problem was. Both sets of ram I had tried apparently had troubles, not the mother board. Or maybe the timings are stricter on this motherboard. Updating my previous 1 star overview. It seems I received two diverse poor sets of DDR3 RAM and blamed the motherboard. If you have an issue operating dual channel, but both sticks pass memtest x86 in either channel, its most likely your RAM. I would continually see errors on cold boot operating dual channel, but the ram would not fail operating single channel with one particular or each sticks. Following the ram was "warm" it would also run dual channel fine. Producing minor tweaks to the bios settings would often fix the dual channel challenge till the subsequent cold boot. If you're having concerns like that consider RMA'ing your ram.

A stunning board to appear at. You spend a bit much more but this has all the bells and whistles. I was undecided among a EVGA 121-LF-E652-KR and this. Mainly the EVGA's pricing was more desirable. The deciding variables being that the EVGA's PCI-E slots are generally 8x, and I only have one card for the construct at the moment. So I could advantage from this board's 16x slot when one particular card is inserted. The other factor was X-Fi. I also really should note that I was forced to get some thing that matched my living area scheme. Which has a lot of red.I rolled the dice and bought non-QVL memory. (Mainly to preserve with the color scheme) Recognized my 1600 RAM, but it defaulted to a quite low speed. One particular switch in the BIOs and the point auto-adjusted almost everything, and ran my memory at the appropriate speed. Read the manual a bit. I only purchased 2 sticks of RAM and it prefers these to be in the red slots. None so far Great shipping as usual Newegg! Has LEDs for almost everything. No require to open case to reset bios. If you do forget your settings there are 10 profile sets to save them to. Mem excellent will tweak your memory one particular setting at a time, plenty of voltage options like spread spectrum for PCIe stability. Quantity can be typed into BIOS as an alternative of scrolling a bunch of lines... I'm utilized to DFI board and I really like the layout of this rig. Asus pays attention to detail with the Gene. ten phase PWM is in all probability overkill but it's maintaining my i5 @ 4GHz with only 1.35vcore so I gota hand it to Asus. The load line calibration helps you get decrease vcore due to the fact it kills vdroop all collectively. IMC, PCH, and PLL voltages along with CPU vcore and vdimm for your RAM. Heck the IO plate is even insulated and the board lights up with a sweet red ROG logo. Comes embedded with creative Xfi with EAX4 so you won't want to take up a different slot with your HD sound card. Oh yeah and MB headers for those tiny case switches (you know, power led, hdd led, reset switch and so on -- there all can be used on an incorporated header. Green light is on the "clear RTC RAM" button, and the onboard Commence/Reset buttons work, HD LED is lit as is the Go button LED. I tried single mem in all the mem slots and I attempted powering on although holding the Go button in which brought on it to do a reboot cycle although the LED flashed. The LED for the CPU, Mem, and PCH are not lit in any color. Given that I received this mainboard, I have been absolutely nothing quick of amazed with it. I have an i3-540 3.06GHz CPU that has been running at 4.29GHz considering that day 1. I am making use of GSkill Trident Memory ƒx2GB 2000MHz Memory) and a Corsair H50 Cooler. I have 2 Raptor 150 X drives in RAID0 with a pair of GTX260 Graphics cards in SLI. An Enermax Galaxy DX10 1000Watt PSU feeds this monster in a customized Antec P-180 Mini case. This point runs Crysis at full bore on a 24" screen and the CPU in no way gets above 54 Degrees Celcius. The only con I can come up with is that I can't consider of a superior word than Wonderful. Cool motherboard theme, far better SupremeFX X-Fi audio, overclocks effortlessly to 200MHz Bus Clock, DDR3 memory indeed operates at 2200MHz and up, better bundle than some of the P7P55D series. Beyond flawless at stock frequencies. When you find the ideal settings overclocked, it's equally reliable. You pay the premium for premium hardware. But, not seriously a con if you've ever tried utilizing a quasi-excellent motherboard. There are NO physical or computer software overclocking issues for customers on air cooling, liquid cooling, or Phase. Some of the "iffy" sockets that produced it by way of only impact systems pushing the 5GHz and higher. This is Nicely BEYOND SPECS on any platform. Complaining that it's substandard is like saying that your family vehicle didn't do very properly off road.

Asus Republic of Gamers is just the highest finish of motherboards No USB three. or SATA III 6GB/s but this board was released a year ago and these capabilities didn't exist back then. You can still get these features by adding the Asus U3S6 in the second PCIe slot but that will take up second PCIe slot so you can only have 1 video card.LGA 1156 socket is made by Foxconn and not LOTES. LOTES socket is far better than Foxconn as Foxconn socket pins will melt soon after prolonged use or hefty overclocking, destroying itself and the CPUNew BIOS needed to help newer CPUs, and the BIOS can't be updated devoid of a bootable system so you'll have to either pick an older i5 750/i7 860/i7 870 CPU or borrow 1 from a friend and just use it to boot the process so you can update the BIOS to newest version, then you can opt for the newer CPUs like the following:Core i5 760Pentium G6950 C2 or K0 SteppingCore i3/i5 500맰 Series C2 or newer K0 SteppingCore i7 875K묈 The dude named rokan who gave this board 1 star rating due to the fact his system won't boot, in his review he stated he has a Core i5 760. I believe his method won't boot since his Maximus III Gene probably has the early BIOS from Q3 09, the i5 760 was released a complete year later in Q3 10, so according to the ASUS site he will will need to have BIOS 1801 or higher to support the i5 760. So either return the i5 760 for a i5 750/i7 860뫾 or borrow one particular from a buddy and use it to boot the program and go to ASUS site, download and update to most up-to-date BIOS then you can use your i5 760.I am an expert in laptop hardware and I hope this review will assist other individuals with BIOS/CPU support

Not a large deal...I'm employing HDMI audio on my video card anyway which is why I didn't take of a star for this. You may well think otherwise though. I'm working with this for a HTPC and all the added fan outputs are seriously great. Mainly due to the fact I'm employing the two optional PWM outputs to do a push pull on my entertainment center and it's still inaudible from exactly where I sit. No troubles setting the board up, dropped it in, plugged stuff in, turned it on and it worked from the get go.

Anandtech.com lately posted an short article about overclocking problems on motherboards with foxconn sourced sockets. Regrettably all of asus' p55 boards feature a foxconn socket. The difficulty comes from pins not generating enough get in touch with with the CPU. Presently the write-up says that the challenge only seems to occur below extreme overclocking, but they also mention that a moderately overclocked chip had some burn marks on it soon after extended use.Just leaves me with a poor feeling about overclocking at all, I mean sure asus would possibly replace the motherboard if one thing were to come about but is intel going to replace my i7 due to poor socket manufacturing? Was going to get the EVGA p55 micro but newegg didn't have it in stock, genuinely wish i would have waited, for 30 dollars less i could be overclocking with confidence proper now. I am nevertheless going to give it 4 stars just mainly because I haven't had any private issues with it but and ASUS isn't really the one at fault as almost every manufacturer besides EVGA, Intel, and DFI i think use the foxconn socket in some if not all of their p55 boards. I will be pulling off the processor when i get a possibility to check for suitable pin make contact with, if I have poor adequate speak to i will possibly RMA this and get the EVGA board instead, I will update soon!
