Masscool MP-1370S Media Player - 3.5 SATA to USB, HDMI

I was on a quest to find a device to stream my VOB DVD files to my theatre room. I tried an XBOX 360 with Zune,Tversity and Winamp with limited sucess. The Masscool streams video quality as good as burning the files to a DVD and playing back on a Blu Ray player, and in DTS or DD. I have it hardwired to my network. The drawbacks are primitive navagation and lack of chapters or menus for DVD. Music and photos work well but again, navagation is a weak. I recommend this device.

Got this unit a couple of months ago it was simply perfect ( beside the noisy fan that bugs me when listening something at low volume). Use to be networked with XP machines and was working just perfect. Then came windows 7 and now i cant connect to 7 machine by network. Support from masscool is none existent. So if you plan using network be advice that it wont work with windows 7.

I have had this product about three weeks and it has performed very well. The manual does need improvements and I would like to have seen a method of updating the softw on the unit for future improvements. The software interface is simple to operate and integrates with the existing network easily. Unfortunately, all access to the network must be made from the unit. I would have liked to be able to access the unit from a networked computer, but this is still excellent value.

Had this product for 2 weeks. Everything was fine until two days ago when the audio output stopped fonctionning. Then yesterday the video output also was defective. Luckyly the hdmi is fine for now, but for how long?

This unit was simple to add a hard drive too. However I had trouble auto formatting the 1.5 Tb hard drive and had to try several times. I eventually formatted the drive NTFS. Divx movie files work great. Vob files only play one at a time so if you have a dvd with several files you need to compile them to one big file. The GUI interface is nice but I cant seem to watch videos outside of the gui screen. I would like to see an update to allow the GUI to be shrunk and allow full screen viewing of video. music files played great thourgh the system and my souround sound. For the price this unit works great. The manual is usless they could have offered a better manual with trouble shooting tips. Mascool Web site is just as usless. But this product is a great idea and does work as expected.
