Cons: -difficult to attach more than 1 drive at a time

Pros: -great for accessing drives without having to install into pc-power switch on the adapter allows for quick drive swaps
Comment:
Works well. Tried it on several old drives both IDE and SATA. The power switch on the adapter lets you turn off the power to the drive without having to unplug from outlet allowing you to switch drives quickly

Cons: Lots of wires

Pros: Plug and play
Comment:
This adapter works well with every hard drive and dvd drive I've used it with. The power adapter is a bit short and can be awkward to use if your computer isn't near an outlet, same for the usb cable. After using it with an old 3.5in IDE disk drive a few times one of the pins broke off into the adapter; This could have been my fault but I'm not convinced. I'm still going to use it with 2.5in IDE and sata drives.

Cons: Black connecters (difficult for me to see, ppl with 20/20 should be fine, flimsy connection into adapter head.

Pros: It worked on old wd 15GB ide hdd, sata drives and old samsung ide dvd burner.
Comment:
I tested it on a laptop, I didn't use the psu in the box I went straight to an old 350w ATA psu glad I didn't through them out.For $14 it's a handy little gadget to have, HDDs do spin at full speed so it's a quick temperary tool not intended for extended use, I don't trust the supplied psu use an ata or jump and old atx psu.

Cons: Cables get a bit messy on your desk, this is however expected of such a temporary setup.

Pros: Works as expected. Bundled with all the cables you need to connect IDE and SATA devices.
Comment:
I used the adapter to recover files from an old 3.5 IDE disk. It did the job as expected. This is the perfect solution to transfer data from a "dead" machine HDD or just to "browse" that old drive laying around somewhere. Optical drive should be supported, I did not test this feature.Fast and easy setup, it plain works !

Cons: - The drive power cable that came with the adapter did not fit the drive

Pros: - easy set up- inexpensive
Comment:
Got the job done, I was able to pull my files off the drive; but the power adapter didn't fit. I ended up having to dig out an old tower to power the drive. So works just fine if you have old hardware lying around; but not so useful if you need something portable. This review was modfied by poster @ 05-01-11 10:59 AM

For a hard drive, you have to format it. Computer management-disk management, then allocate the disk. The cable works really smoothly! Paul is big help! A really cheerful guy! Highly recommend!

Review Date: 02/14/10
Cons: does not have capability to power down drive, runs all the time

Pros: Supports all your hard drives
Comment:
Picked this up because I have many hard drives of different types, and no enclosure supports them all, it's also easier than having to pull a case apart every time you want to swap drives. Only criticisim is that the drive will spin all the time, as the power supply is not controlled by anything, not a problem if you only have it connected when you expect to use it.

Cons: The USB cord could be a little longer.

Pros: Convenient and useful. Handles all three most important types of HDs in my collection.
Comment:
This cable is really much more useful than a drive enclosure for those who want to read a set of HDs in a collection but not reading for very long periods of time. It does not require any software set-up. Connection is fast and there is no worry about over-heating.

Cons: NIL..

Pros: Onsale price was perfect, Unit operates as intended and is a life saver for working on drives.

After owning the IDE only version of this for several years I decided to snag this one for SATA drives. Plugged it in and away I went zero'ing a SATA drive after doing a sector scan...worked perfect!

Cons: Cant do any intensive disk access with large files.

Pros: Hard drive mounts. Small files transfer
Comment:
Tried imaging a drive and it would hang for minutes in between small bursts of activity. Power supply is terrible rest of the unit work when alternate supply is used. Do not purchase this product.

Cons: its a bit flimsyincluded powercable is a bit shortno power switch

Pros: Easy to useworks as expected
Comment:
Its a great utility device; not a hard drive enclosure, so the lack of case and mess of cables isn't really a disadvantage, the idea is that you can pick up a bare drive and access data easily and quickly in a 'temporary' setup, and it delivers that. And given that it will work with the 3 most common types of hard drive you are likely to encounter its a great value. The lack of a power switch is more disconcerting than an actual issue. It would be a nice touch, but its not a big deal.As for the comment about the short cable, it uses the same type of cable that runs from your power supply to your PC, except its 2 feet long... so if you find it short, its easy to replace with a longer one. If you are in the market for something like this device you probably have bucket of those power cords by now.

Cons: Laptop IDE HDD's can only be powered by IDE connection.

Pros: Package has all of the necessary parts to connect an internal HDD to an external USB port.
Comment:
This adapter is very convenient to transfer files via USB from HDD's that won't boot up on any laptop or desktop. I've used it at work and I loved it so much, I bought one for home use.

Cons: CHeap Power Supply. NO carrying bag for all the bits and pieces.

Pros: Handy tool. Very verisitile. Convenient.
Comment:
I bought this as a hard drive recovery tool. Too many friends have failed laptops that need help recovering their data. This little guy can plug into anything so you can attach it to a working pc and pull the files off. It does the job, and Im happy with it....I just wish there was a bag to store all the parts in. The box works, I just think itd be a nice touch to have something else.

Pros: I would not know... arrive DOA!
Comment:
I never had a chance to use this particular model but my previous nGear also failed (which is why I purchased a new one). The previous one failed in the IDE/USB electronics. This new one failed in the power supply! Conclusion, nGear products are not very good!

Cons: Not for use over extended time periods.

Pros: Love the ability to connect an IDE or SATA drive.
Comment:
Great product overall. Make sure the hard drive you are connecting is formatted as a primary partition. If the drive is formatted only as an extended partition, it will not be recognized when connected to your PC.I love this cable's ability to connect an IDE or SATA drive via USB 2.0 to a PC. This prevents the need for buyng two separate drive enclosures. On the other hand, as others have mentioned, this product is not intended for long-term connectivity / usage.

Cons: Not good for extended use, not the best build quality

Pros: Great if you need a file off a hard disk or something, IDE and SATA

This is great if you need to temporarily hook up a hard disk to your computer to get a file. It supports IDE and SATA, which is nice. This isn't the best quality out there, but it does the trick.

Cons: None yet...PSU is cheap, but works like a charm so far.

Pros: Life saving device when you need it.Fastest way to connect a drive to your PC.Does 2.5/3.5 PATA/SATA drives
Comment:
This is a great backup device to have around to quickly connect HDs from old or non-functioning machines to a functioning one for backup or rescue. I've used it several times already, and had the older (no SATA) version as well. Highly recommended for pros/enthusiasts/that kid who's always fixing his neighbours' PCs.

Cons: None so far

Pros: Works with most hard drives (SATA, IDE, 3.5", 2.5")
Comment:
This is a great device to have if you like me have several different hard drives. I have a 2.5" IDE hard drive, two 3.5" IDE hard drives and two 3.5" SATA drives. If I want to shuffle them around in case of emergency this lil' device is incredibly useful. Without having to buy a special enclosure or insert drive into my computer, I can quickly connect any one of those drives via USB, copy/backup data and be done with it in a few minutes. Every time I buy a new hard drive I can test as soon as I am home. Main hard drive fails? Can fix it without need to boot it from it...
