Cons: Video capture with the included cable not impressive.

Pros: Small size, easy to set up and get working with Media Center. Good tuner/reception.
Comment:
It does a good job of finding and playing all analog tv stations. It does a good job of finding and playing all unencrypted qam digital music stations. Seems to have to problems finding unencrypted qam tv stations, but since we only have 2 I think, I'm not too bothered by it. I'm on Shaw cable. This would not be sufficient to replace a tv or high end tuner, but for the price and what it's intended for, very good. I initially also got this for cable fm... digital music just blows that away!

Cons: Flimsy antenna

Pros: Works great with HD content
Comment:
Does an average job for over-the-air content, although included antenna is cheap and very small. Included tuner software is buggy and crashes often on my PCs. Wold recommend for use with Windows Media Center or ChrisTV.

Cons: Software badly needs to be updated for Windows 7-64 , supplied driver on disk may conflict with Windows 7-64

Pros: The tuner works good with Windows media center ,I installed it on an Acer 17" AMD DUO Turion II (2.4GHz)The overall picture quality is better than my large LCD TV.It is connected to shaw cable ,Vancouver, Canada , The cable output is an analog signal (NTSC)
Comment:
After a few trials of different brand & wasted money I took my chance on this Tuner and I am satisfied with the results .But beware , Computer speed is still the basic need for these type of USB Tuner , a Dual or more core is no help to low speed for the on board computer graphic to do the work coding/decoding process.Read the manufacturing basic computer requirements for the use of the Tuner, 2GHz is basic , 1.5GHz is marginal .Ignore the supplied software . Plug in the tuner and after being recognized by windows , it will search and download/install the driver .Reboot , then open Windows Media Center who will then (on a new )laptop in my case proceed to download the TV Viewer software for Media center , then proceed to TV set-up , That's it .

Comment:
This is about as simple a TV tuner that you can set up. It took only a few minutes and I was watching live TV. I'm using it on a low end Windows 7 Dell i3 laptop with integrated video. It works great with it's own software, Chris TV, Dscaler, Windows Media Center and probably any other software out there. Picture quality is good. Live TV was a little jerky in WMC but very smooth under the other software I listed.
great buy

Comment:
As with many cheap Asian products, the hardware is OK but the software is terrible quality. TV connection is flaky. works most of the time. Media Center gets confused on channel setup and sometimes won't find any channels. Aver's own software looks like something out of the 80s. Maybe some of this works in Asia but the channels are unknown in US. The SnugTV is cool, in that you can watch TV anywhere on the net, but of course you'll have to pay a subscription fee. Go with another brand because the software is buggy at best.

I am deployed to Kuwait and have this plugged into the cable and it works better than advertised. Even though the cable here cannot be indexed for recordings, you can do manual recordings and watch TV at a later date. I absolutely love my AVerMedia TV Tuner, I will use it everywhere I travel! Did not like the software that came with program but Windows 7 media works great with the Tuner! Worth every penny!!!

I'm in the military station in Iraq. There is very limited channel selection for AFN but this little jewel allows me to enjoy every minute of the program. It functions just like your cable at home. It does tend to get a little hot, but other than that it's great

Was excited to get the device,i guess it does what it says, all i wanted to do was have HD TV on my desktop, pics good but not HD Qual for sure, definately not if you record using svid or composite inputs, quality is equal to a medium quality Divx you would download, nothing spectacular.

The picture comes in clear but the audio doesn't remain constant. It breaks in and out, which makes it unlistenable. Also does this on FM radio.

The product works as advertised on my PC. It was quite easy to set up. However, it should be brought up to date regarding over-the-air analog TV scaning as analog TV no longer exists. The controls could be a bit clearer as well. For example, the words Digital TV would be far clearer than ATSC(QAM).

I'm in the Army deployed to Kuwait and can pick up 40 channels through an AFN cable connection. I am running Windows 7 on a Sony VIO. There were no issues with drivers since the OS picked it up right away and loaded the default drivers. Not sure how well the AVerMedia software works since I decided to use Windows Media Center. A small learning curve for those that have never used a tuner, but after an hour I was watching TV.

It works. Barely. The software that came with it crashes my XP laptop constantsly. I went to their website and downloaded latest drives... not much better. It does pick up stations, it does change channels (barely) and it chokes all the time. The only stations you can watch without stalling constantly must be at 100%, and even then, those stall too. So good luck to you all. I'm sending mine back.

This thing is great. I just wish that I hadn't waited so long to get one. I am running Vista and did have a problem with a choppy picture when running with the provided software (probably a setting somewhere), but Windows Media Center runs it perfect. I live outside of the city and the provided antenna works very good too.

If I could give this tuner 6 stars, I would. Installed very easy and worked the first time. I read all the reviews, there are 63 of them, and was impressed that if got 4.6 out of 5 stars. I'm adding another 5 star rating. THIS IS THE ONE TO GET PEOPLE. I live out in the boonies and didn't expect to much out of it. With this little jewel I get 19 channels. This is with the teeny tiny antenna that comes with it. Can hardly wait to try it out next summer with the outside antenna in my travel trailer. I highly recommend this TV tuner.

Good product but you'd better read the manual or you'll never figure it out. Can cause lock-up if you accidentally click the wrong thing.

I already have the PCL and an earlier USB version and both worked well but were only analog. This version is great; both analog and QAM together with the ability to have an external plug-in device. The old software was good, but the new software is vastly improved; it also works with the older devices. I have had absolutely no problems with this device and highly recommend it for both laptop and desktop computers. The price is reasonable and the quality beats all of the competition, especially the devices from that company in New York state. By the way, the new antenna is a vast improvement over the previous one; instead of picking up 5 or 6 stations in my area, I can now get over 20 stations. P.S. Even the tuner works great!!
