Pros: Good Speed, Good value

The read/write speed for Samsung's 840 EVO Series is unbelievably good. The 120GB version is the perfect size to install the OS and still have plenty enough space left to store some of your favorite games/music/movies. Samsung also includes its Magician software and allows you to manage your SDD very efficiently.

Cons: Probably not the fastest SSDs on the market, but worth the price

Pros: Good value.
Comment:
Bought this for my mid 2009 MacBook 13". Installed no problem and installed the newest OSX 10.9 Mavericks. The performance increase is amazing and is well worth the reduced HD size (160GB factory vs 120GB for this Samsung 840). Anyone considering upgrading their MacBook to SSD should consider this drive.

Cons: none

Pros: Slimmer than some others
Comment:
This was to put in an older laptop do decrease heat and noise while improving battery life. The heat/noise is gone. Battery life is marginally better. In terms of performance, I can't say much because the laptop doesn't use sata3. It's definitely faster than the 5200rpm drive that it's replacing though.

Cons: it's not the Pro

Pros: Samsung is a great manufacturer of the chips. Buy from the sourceGood warranty
Comment:
For a simple build this was great. Boots up Windows 7 in an instant. I know it is a bit slower than other SSD's i have, but for the mainly MS Office and web surfing computer i build for a friend's parents it was more than they expected. IT flies for those apps.

This ssd is a wonder. I've also tried the pro version (128gb) and the difference in speed is minimal, I guess the difference lies in the lifespan of the 2 drives. The magician software is very user friendly, and the firmware can be updated even if the os is on it. Overall this is the ssd to get.

Cons: read/write times are too slow for a OS drive.

Pros: Overall quick, quite, uses very little power.
Comment:
The 840 is a good drive if you are using it for storage. I bought it for the purpose of being my video recording drive, and it works wonders for that task. The prices of SSDs are still coming down, but it's still expensive. If you want a system drive, spend the money and get the PRO version instead.

Quick SSD that sips very little power. It is great for notebooks as it is only 7mm thick, compatible with the newest ultrabooks. Wish price was lower since this uses TLC rather than MLC despite reviews saying these can go for 3k rewrites.

Cons: Not especially speedy in everyday tasks despite decent benchmark numbers and high WIE rating of 7.9 in Windows 7.

Pros: Decent value when it goes on sale. Looks nice, great looking enclosure. Included free data migration software for cloning your drive.
Comment:
This is a pretty decent middle of the road SSD, nice if you want to play it safe and don't have a lot of money to spend on an SSD. If you have the funds though, try to get the Pro version or an Intel SSD. I have an Intel 330 and 520 and of course the 520 beats this in speed, but for some reason the 330 also feels more responsive than this drive. Would I buy this card again? Sure if it went on sale, but if it were priced the same as an Intel, I'd buy the Intel first. This card hasn't failed on me or given me any problems, I just feel it doesn't do anything outstanding.

Cons: Writing speed is mediocre

Pros: Reading speed is really fast
Comment:
a good buy at around $100.If you only care about reading speed, this ssd is just fine, same to the 840 pro series. windows 7 starts within 25 seconds. But writing is only at around 50% of the 840 pro series or other top ssd on the market.

Thinking of buying another one and running it at raid 0 just because I'm curious if windows 8 can boot any faster than it already is! Best value I've seen! What you've probably heard on the internet is true, this is the best SSD you can get!

Cons: - no sata cable or data transfer cable provided.- write speeds are quite low

Pros: - fast operations for loading applications, games, and windows 7- Included software is quite handy in monitoring the health of your sdd and optimizing its speed, capacity, and reliability
Comment:
This is a great upgrade for whoever hasn't had experience with an ssd. The difference in read speeds are exceptional compared to a HDD. Get this if you are in need of a boot drive and do not intend to write on the ssd as much. Opt for a performance drive or higher capacity if you intend to use this as a secondary storage device

I've owned this drive for about 2 weeks. I installed it to upgrade my HTPC from an old mechanical HDD.So far my impressions are of extreme satisfaction. This drive is of course silent (it's an SSD, duh), it's got good reliability reviews, it's super quick, and it's a FANTASTIC value.Keeping in mind that it's priced as a value SSD, but is backed by the excellent Samsung reputation and warranty, this drive is hard to beat. Yes there are faster drives out there, but they are also more expensive. For my HTPC, everything is lightning quick. It takes less than 10 seconds for a reboot or startup. It's blazing fast for those who aren't using a high-end workstation or gaming computer (And it would actually still be good in those situations too).I definitely recommend this drive to anyone looking to upgrade their OS drive, especially for HTPC's.

Picked up this SSD during a recent sale, to use as an OS drive in my home office PC. A much-needed upgrade! Windows boots incredibly fast now, and read/write is so quick compared to a regular data drive. The SSD worked great right out of the box, no problem getting it formatted and set up. Great budget/starter SDD if you can snag one during a sale.
