Cons: not theccus' fault but hdds are expensive lol- linux onscreen display when you plug the thing to a monitor could a little more responsive.

Pros: very fast, responsive, lotsa theccus apps to load on the nas for more use's and productivity depending what your into
Comment:
- been using since sept 2014- lot's of theccus apps to load on the nas for more use's and productivity depending what your into- filled it with initially 2x 4TB wd red drives, was running out of space so I bought a third, and migrated to raid 5. - UI seems easy to use.- plex server runs great.- auto power on/off setting works nicely- catch it on sale though!

Cons: Involved interface, drive bay door is cheap plastic.

Pros: Inexpensive, Quiet, Cool. It's a 5 bay NAS with an Atom CPU, and 2GB of RAM for 400 bucks.
Comment:
I got this to replace a NAS I had bought on the cheap a few years ago that was showing signs of finally dying. So, in comparison, this beast is much more machine than I was used to. Drive installation was straightforward, and setup was relatively easy if you go online to the Thecus website and go from the manual there. There are a lot of feature to get used to, but it runs cool and quiet, and for the price NCIX is selling it for, this thing is a steal.

Cons: A little limited in terms of expandability in terms of modules. This is supposed to be addressed by the new OS6 soon to come out. Had to do a hard poweroff and it took 2 days to rebuild the volumes - 5 x 3 TB drives. Probably on par with other systems tho.

Pros: Fast, easy to setup. $150 discount was awesome.
Comment:
Really enjoying this machine. Looking forward to years of service from it.

Cons: Documentation could be better but not a big deal if you have some knowledge of networking e.g. WAN/LAN, link aggregation, iSCSI, etc.

Pros: Build quality, speed, price/value/performace ratio especially when it's at a discounted price below $450
Comment:
The have zero problem so far with the N5550. It's been running 24/7 since it was purchased during the boxing week with 4 Seagate Constellation in a RAID 5 array. Read / write throughput have been excellent between 80-110 MB/s. This is super fast compared to my 4 year old but reliable ReadyNAS NV+ ~ 20-25 MB/s. The ReadyNAS is now a backup for the N5550. Overall I am very happy with my purchase from a price / performance perspective. Make sure you upgrade the firmware to the later .08 version right away as mine came with the old .03 release, which might have stability issues when transferring a large amount data.

Cons: Interface can be tricky

Pros: Fast & reliable
Comment:
This is a great NAS. It is very quick and I have not encountered any slowdowns or performance degredation. Consistantly able to max out 1GB LAN connection. Feature set for modules could be improved through better interfaces.

Cons: it's a little complicated for the average user. Shared folders that can't be deleted, moving or copying data between folders on the same NAS is quite slow?

Pros: Inexpensive, Fast transfer rates between PC, lots of BIOS features, E-Sata, looks cool and runs quite.
Comment:
I bought 2 of these NAS devices and so far been very happy with them. I am running 5 3TB western digital RED drives in one and 4 3 TB western digital Red in the other. I have everything running RAID 5 an So far...No issues at all.

Cons: Front door is flimsy, but don't expect to open very often

Pros: Easy to useFast transfer speedsTons of featuresGood price
Comment:
Have had no problems with this NAS box. Was simple to set up with 4 3TB WD Red hard drives in RAID 10. Excellent transfer speed via the eSATA or USB 3. Had it up and running on my home network in a about 15min. For the price I think it is excellent.

Cons: Unreliable.Slow support.

Pros: 5 Drive Bays.Good extra features.
Comment:
Got this and put in 5 HDs off of their HCL. I would NEVER buy this again. Totally unreliable, from misreported drive failures to it's inability to bulk copy/move data without crashing.Until they have resolved the firmware issues with this box, I'd stay far, far away from it.

Cons: Front door is flimsy. Drives are expensive (about $300/ea).

Pros: Small, Light, Slick looking, the price, holds larger drives (4TB max so far), Atypical HDMI port and audio ports!, 4 USB ports!!
Comment:
First Impression: This is gonna be fun and for the price I can understand why it is made so cheaply. It will take me a while to buy 5 4TB drives for it so once I get it full and tested I will review again.Perfect for a DJ with 20TB of music or video! It's really light so moving is easy. Supports a host of UPS's, sets up quick, it's quiet and slick looking with a low light blue display! Just watch you don't break the front door off... it's really thin (bends easy) and closing it sometimes is a pain but once you have it closed there is no real need to open it anyway!I look forward to using and abusing this little cute NAS!
