Aside from the positives the gt 240 platform brings:-hdmi-blu ray 3d-low power-low heat-shorter card to match in smaller instances-96 coresThis palit card in particular is nice simply because of the dual slot cooler which in my htpc case which has no active ventilation just a big slow moving cpu heatsink/fan the card maxes out at 60 degrees Celsius and idles at 35 which is incredible. The 1gb of vram is type of a waste on this level of card great card but you could be greater off with the 512mb card

Functionality is as anticipated out of this mid-range vid card. Absolutely nothing spectacular FPS sensible. For 60 bucks it will strengthen method efficiency by a important margin for those with integrated on board graphics. Installation is pretty fundamental. Would use at least a 300+w PS. The manual is quite limited in terms of installation guidelines (it offers the limited guidelines in like 10 languages), so prior expertise is helpful. May call for a PS upgrade if you have a pre-configured Pc.

Extremely quickly compared to the 8600GTS I upgraded from. The fan is totally silent, even beneath load. Temperatures are good - 58*F beneath full load, 36*C at idle. Doesn't improve the rest of the temps inside my case, and as a outcome, my room doesn't get boiling hot when gaming, like it used to. HDMI audio and video operates flawlessly with my LCD television for watching films, and DVI performs at the identical time on my computer monitor. 3DMark Vantage GPU score: 3512With my old Geforce 8600 GTS, my score averaged 1986So really the upgrade in efficiency! My CPU score also increased considerably soon after the upgrade, from 11860 to 19312! All other hardware and computer software remained the identical.Incredibly little card. it's only the length of the PCIe slot. So no difficulties with it fitting in your case. This also implies you can very easily access the PCIe eject switch, something I've had issues with in the previous. Smaller size means far better airflow inside the case.NO external power connector necessary. It runs off the P It nevertheless requires up two expansion slots, seemingly needlessly. I'd rather have had a LONGER card that makes use of a longer heatsink, than the additional THICK heatsink/fan they employed. This card is abnormally short by these days's standards, so that must have been achievable.Extremely bare bones package with no accessories. I'm utilised to Asus cards that come with games/software/dongles. None of that can be found right here. Just a driver cd, manual, and the card. Not as quickly or effective as some other similarly marked cards. It could not be the fastest card around or most effective, but for older systems, it's a great upgrade. My technique is a three.5(ish) year old C2D E6600, and I went from a Geforce 8600GTS to this card, and saw big improvements: I'm now capable to play Star Trek On the internet with all settings except shadows maxed out (which I turned down manually) and 2xAA at 1920x1200. Previously I was operating at nearly all the lowest settings in the game.Given that I was upgrading from a Geforce to a Geforce, every thing worked immediately. No nasty software package surprises by altering manufacturers. Due to the fact my 3DMark Vantage cpu score also increased dramatically right after upgrading, it appears this new card has taken considerable load off the CPU. Acquiring any more rapidly of a card for an older system like mine just tends to make no sense, simply because anything faster will just be bottlenecked by the rest of my method's older hardware.

Great tiny card. Handles almost everything my dead 9800 did devoid of breaking a sweat. Actually. Runs great and cool at 40*C, and heats up to 55*C though gaming. And all this with no needing energy from the PSU. None. Just be sure to set up the most current nVidia drivers. I'd advise this card to any person seeking to place a little oomph into an aging single-core machine. Manufacturer Response:Dear Reverend,Palit GT240 is a fantastic buy.**TIP**Please usually update your NVIDIA drivers anytime there's a new update. This can assist boost overall performance in many situations.Thank you,Palit’s Specialist

Bought this card to upgrade a 3yr old hp a1700n with on-board 6150LE graphics and I couldn't be happier! My 3DMark06 score went from (don't laugh) 181 to 6526. Card is incredibly quiet even at 100%. Right now the card is operating at 43c and the hottest I've gotten it up to is 59c. I purchased this card primarily for it's low power needs 鵬w) as I didn't want to obtain a new PSU. As usual, Newegg is very first rate! Does take up 2 slots, but I knew that just before I purchased it. If you do get this card, you need to have to know how to set up it lead to the directions fundamentally say "Insert disk" in 20 languages. I like to play Battlefield two and was averaging 20-30 fps at the lowest settings. Following installing this card, I'm now acquiring 50-70 fps at 1440x900 and medium to high settings. Oh, and Nvidia has a new driver for this card, so be certain to get it. Wonderful card to breathe new life in to an older Pc Producer Response:Dear Socko1965,It is true that our manual is seriously standard since there are so several different motherboards and case design and style out there that it is impossible for us to modify to each time. Nevertheless, in the close to future, we will surely come up with anything that will solve this concern.Thank you,Palit’s Specialist

I got the rebate verify for this product and saw that it was incorrect (was for บ, ought to have been for ษ). I referred to as (!) Palit and within 30 seconds (!!) was on the line with a good young lady who asked for my address. Two days later (!!!) I got a check for the remaining ฟ. No excuses, no runaround. I can't recall a time when I've had service this great. I haven't installed it but, but I am confident that if there are any difficulties they will make it suitable. I don't typically write reviews but service this superior deserves to be recognized. If these people purchased an airline, they would personal the sector in a month.

The card features a nice solid heat-sink that appears to be constructed of aluminum that is also housing a large and quiet fan, even at 100% (cannot hear with AC running). The fan is controllable via software, if so desired, though this turned out to be unnecessary. Beneath full load the highest temp recorded is 58C. Card is tiny and about 5.five inches I believe. Reminded me of the old Riva 128 for a moment (but with a big heat-sink, fan, DVI and HDMI connectors). Heat removed from the card is returned into the case and need to be exhausted by the case fans. In a normal Dell mid-tower, with only 1 80mm fan as case exhaust and another in the PSU, the card ran so cool this style never ever created it a difficulty.Loading the most up-to-date drivers as of June 30th resulted in Four Nvidia High Definition Drivers showing up in Vista's device manager. This is, apparently, typical and didn't detract from functionality or overall performance in any way. Bought as a gift to be refit into a Dell Inspiron 531 tower with a 300W PSU, 2.1 dual-core AMD X2, and 3GB DDR2 Ɣ banks). No problems with compatibility as others have noted right here and the PSU ran everything just fine with CPU and GPU beneath full continuous load for 2 days. It can now play games such as Mass Effect (without AA) with small stutter. The CPU is the choke point in this technique. This video card truly reminds me of the old 8800GS (may be off right here) with 96 shaders, but a smaller pipe 鳀 bit) with significantly additional memory 񡺀mb DDR5). Performance appeared to be specifically the same as well. Nice and recommended upgrade for older systems with limited space and PSU power.

The item is a excellent value relative to others with the same GeForce GT 240 core. Incredibly appealing card and seems to be built solid. This did not rate as high on benchmark testing (Passmark and other people) as other GT 240 cards and this makes me wonder why? Be wary of any rebate offer you with Palit - they will deny your claim but not inform you that they are denying the claim. They claim their rebate department is overwhelmed! They do not enable resubmissions as stated on their types. Figure the price tag is the cost without having a rebate - buyers beware. Manufacturer Response:Dear Anonymous,Please make certain you read the terms and condition and follow the instruction. We have given over 95% of buyer rebates back but there are the 5% that did not have the material which we have to deny. Please call us at 1-877-934-7932 for further assistant or E-mail us at Palit.Help@gmail.com with topic line “Priority Aid” to have a specialist personally aid you.Thank you for your feedback.Palit’s Specialist

I have no complaint against the card at all - key improvement more than my on board graphics. Palit diddled me out of my rebate - sent everything just like it stated - have a copy of what they received - but they denied payment. I've heard other people talk about dealing with them - be my last time.

Cons: Not the cheapest card in this performance bracket

Pros: Decent midrange card
Comment:
Purchased for the touted low power consumption. Similar performing cards could have been purchased for less. The card works fine, and manages up to midrange gaming just fine. This would likely choke if you really stressed it though with a new game and high details. This card will likely be outdated by the time I buy my next midrange card.

Cons: NOT FOR HIGH END GAMING. Some settings probably need to be lower.

Pros: This is good video card if you are planning on using it for mid range. It can play COD2 and WoW pretty good without problems.
Comment:
Overall this is a great card but not for your extreme gamer. I think it is worth it if you are also using home entertainment software.
