I tested this enclosure with each the Western Digital RE4 WD2002FYPS and the Hitachi DeskStar H3IK20003272SP ƐS02861) 2TB three.5 inch SATA drives in both Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, and Windows XP Qualified 32 bit. I can confirm that it recognizes each of those drives if partitioned with MBR (I did not test GPT). I also tested it with a Mac Mini running Mac OS X ten.6.4 employing the Hitachi DeskStar H3IK20003272SP ƐS02861) 2TB three.five inch SATA drive and it worked fantastic. The connector for the LED is a little much more challenging to attach than it needs to be. Very satisfied with this item. Other brands of external enclosures that I tested have not worked with 2TB drives, but this one particular does. Don't think the box, which says only 1.5 TB. If you want a 2 TB enclosure, this enclosure works! |

This is a solid, simple-to-work with enclosure. It is built completely out of aluminum, even the ends. The LED is easy and the energy switch is a welcome addition. A single con only, the cable that connects the LED to the energy fits a small awkwardly on the case and requires some bending, but it's not big deal. I'm really pleased with this so far. Also poor it does not have eSata, but I would only want that for future-proofing, so it wasn't an concern |

The enclosure functions fine, and is a excellent worth for significantly less than twenty-five bucks. The components match nicely, and it was extremely straightforward to place with each other. I also appreciate the DC adapter isn't some giant wall wart - you can plug one thing else into the exact same outlet. Wow, that LED is Vibrant. Very sleek seeking, nice develop, the power supply isnt bulky, cost is excellent, drive help is fantastic, and read/write is also great.Does a good job at taking heat from the drive and dissapateing it across the enclosure. Does get warm right after about 30min of activity ( even though that depends on the drive/model/brand ect you are using with this). Overall a great external enclosure, I would def purchase this again. I place a WD 500GB Green drive in it for a backup drive that I place files onto twice a month, then it goes into a fire proof protected and sits, for my demands this enclosure was perfect. |

I was expecting it to be somewhat fragile but this issue is quite sturdy. The stand for it is fairly cool the way it connects and performs actually nicely. The documentation was good - installing the challenging drive was outrageously easy and simple. General the enclosure operates great and looks amazing. No biggy at all but the LED is hilariously vibrant. Its nearly like possessing a projector when your in a dark room. A straightforward piece of black tape or an object to block it easily treatments this tho. Never heard of "Vantec" prior to but I am really happy with this product. |

Worked flawlessly for over a year with my Maxtor 320GB SATA 2. drive inside, Aluminum exterior is fantastic for dissipating heat, Incredibly Bright LED on the front lets you know it's turned on, fantastic create quality. Tiny stand is worthless (easily tipped/not good), but case can easily slide about on a desktop (or slide off the desktop) if it's not in the stand. Unit totally died when I swapped out the hard drive to 1TB: controller chip now has a burn mark on one corner. Failure might have originated from the LED connector: it is not clearly labeled which way it connects (it can connect more than 1 way). Transfer speeds flatline about 30MB/s read using HDTune, so not fantastic overall performance. The drive I tested it with was acquiring more than 80GB/s when tested on SATA connection, so the USB to SATA was an obvious bottleneck. I bought this in a combo-deal. I adore the Vantec's USB-to-IDE/SATA device I got for troubleshooting and other pc operate. I have literally worn out the SATA cable. This enclosure has not had that considerably use and has been disappointing in style, longevity and overall performance (although I haven't tested a lot of USB drives efficiency). |

Good device, does what its intended to do. Bought to use an extra hard drive I had as a backup for a couple laptops I use. Not the ideal or prettiest thing but for like ษ tough to complain given that its only applied twice a week when I plug in the laptops to backup. On and off switch so you don't have to unplug it to energy off in between makes use of. Installation was annoying attempting to get this 1 cable tucked into the enclosure even though worrying I was gonna break it the whole time. It is such a tight match and the cable isn't incredibly thick or nicely protected should it be pinched involving sharp metal sides like the inside includes. It works, it's compact, well constructed, straightforward to assemble and desirable. Doesn't dissipate heat as properly as I'd hoped. LED on front is supposed to indicate each power and activity, mine does not indicate activity, just stays lit bright all the time. I put a typically very hot operating Seagate 500GB drive in right here, hoping the aluminum case would be ample to dissipate the drive's heat. Effectively, sadly it isn't. The case itself gets Really hot, which implies it is soaking the heat from the drive. But you can tell how effectively anything is losing heat by turning the device making the heat off and seeing how extended it requires to cool down. Regrettably it takes this little guy forever. My drive has "hung" twice currently, took it out of the case and it runs fine all day and night. The case would be exceptional for a cooler operating drive, and I intend to use it for one particular! Seems effectively produced. Stays reasonable cool. Slowest of all my enclosures. Tried with drives out of other enclosures and similar results, slow. Intermittently locks technique when attaching or disconnecting. Had identical difficulty on numerous systems. Obtaining energy switch off when attaching or disconnecting solves locking challenge. Will not use this as a key external drive |

This is a very nice external enclosure; it's sleek, modest, and remains nice and cool within it's aluminum structure. Adore the fact that the power transformer is compact and built into the AC plug in such a way that it will plug into a powerstrip with no blocking access to other outlets about it -- also good that there is no massive power brick to lug around, generating this enclosure far more mobile. Quite easy drive installation -- only six screws, which is nice compared to my Metal Gearbox enclosure which has a dozen or much more. Blue LED function light is inobtrusive but effortless to see...power button seems nicely constructed. It didn't come with a free of charge 1-TB harddrive currently installed. I really like this enclosure. When I'm ready for an additional, VANTEC tops my list of producers. |

Quality hardware appearance, sturdy and ridged style. Effortless set up. Able to take away HDD from case effortlessly. Extremely tough contruction, vantec is a very good brand. not sata+ide For those of you questioning, the laptop sata is the similar connection as desktop sata which means that you can also use laptop sata tricky drives with this exclosure. |

Extremely solid aluminum construction, the enclosure feels very solid and sturdy. The internal connections for the SATA drive are well thought out, as the drive just clips into the plastic power and data connections on the PCB. The enclosure gets pretty warm, since it is only passively cooled. Shouldn't be a problem, but 1 could be worth making use of the integrated stand to retain it upright. The LED is a lot brighter than I would choose, but that's genuinely more of an annoyance than a con. On the entire, the create top quality and design of this enclosure is superb. Solid construction, tough, uncomplicated to setup and install. Functions perfectly! Removing tough drives has grow to be a pain. I like this item and it functions well, but following a couple uses my hard drives are difficult to get in and take out. I'm not certain what occurred, I've never ever set something on major of it, it might have warped from the heat. Sturdy aluminum case also offers heat transfer for this fanless enclosure. Assembly is uncomplicated for the most part. It operates.
