You choose the drive size - I via a 1TB drive in it. Quite straight forward GUISmallerQuiet - you can't even hear the little fan.I noisy drive will produce a lot of noise - but this is not the NAS' fault considering that there are no other moving parts except the fan and drive you chose. You can set up customers and groups and set this up so a whole group will have the identical rights. I'm not using this due to the fact I have a Windows Home Server with all the rights currently set. This is just a backup device for me. Slow initial formatting of 1TB driveThe user manual and GUI is not truly setup for the novice user. The manual does not go into any genuine details as to the 3 different formatting choices other than some essential points as "recommendations."Not a big deal, but most individuals will be in a position to set this up with no also substantially confusion. I read the initially evaluation and there are so several aspects that dictate speed (network usage, NIC cards, cabling (Cat5, 5e or 6), CPU usage, switch capabilities, number of switches, and so on). I did not contact call their tech help, but I am happy with this NAS.I have had the drive for about a month and it's backing up files off from a Window's Home Server as a disaster recovery effort. I'd be happier if I could get that automated, but that is a project for one more day because WHS does not inherently support that operation. I ran speed tests using "LAN Speed Test" ver 1.1.five, writing a 100 meg file and a one hundred meg NIC card: Writing: 38.24 MbpsReading: 31.39 MbpsI then tried the same test with a 1 gig NIC card/different computer:TestşWriting: 57.three MbpsReading: 68.8 MbpsŠW: 27.4 MbpsR: 45.two MbpsšW: 59.2 MbpsR: 72.5 MbpsWireless g ࿖ meg) NICǙrd pc:W: ten.4ǝ.2 MbpsR: ???ǚ.7 MbpsAll in all, I would advocate this to my friends for a good no

Tiny, quiet, and ok web interface. Some what noisy.Immediately after setting my NAS up and began transferring files to it, on a complete 1GBps network connection I was only finding 6MBps transfer speeds. I named their technical assistance and they agent even stated that they are misleading in their item description that it is "blazing fast connection" and the common speed is only 10-12MBps, and I would have to acquire another adapter to up that speed. This will work ideal for you if you don't mind waiting hours and hours to transfer 1 film to it.This would be incredibly good if they would not mislead people and would actual place some speed into this NAS.
