Drive seemed to be quick. "No bootable device located" in Raid immediately after 3 days. Drive no longer seen in BIOS. Removed raid and did IDE. five Days later "No bootable device discovered". OCZ forum seems complete of this problem, among others with no answers discovered. I have a second identical system with a competitors drive and no troubles with exact same bios, OS and drivers. Seems to be heading to a RMA circle. Evaluation the mfgs forum before purchasing would be my advice. I bought these drives based on the testimonials right here...my error. I commonly overview forums and tech assistance prior to purchasing but I was in a hurry. No it is costing me time ƒ x complete OS and app installs), RMA turn about time, and can't get refund...just a retailer credit.

- boot and application load occasions are actually fast - with my particular netbook (asus 1015 ped) it seems to have trouble waking from a sleep state. I attempted updating the firmware from the ocz web page, but they only have v1.24 listed, and this ships with v1.27. Possibly there is a firmware update that will repair this, but for now i just disable sleep (and set the action on closing the lid to be none), then set my netbook to hibernate after 20 minutes of inactivity. Not the biggest issue, but annoying.

Seriously rapidly. After the BIOS loads, Windows 7, 64-bit loads in much less than 20 seconds. I want there was some sort of Note or Information stating that you really should set the SATA as AHCI 'before' loading the OS, because now when I attempt to set it, I get errors and the only way I can figure out how to 'fix' it would be to re-set up the OS all more than once again, and I don't want to do that. So I'll reside with it the way it is for now. I installed the OS on the SSD and use a WD VelociRaptor for every thing else. However, there are some applications that don't give you an obtion to install on the D: drive and I goofed up for 100Mb (see con) but I still have over 41Mb totally free on this 80Mb drive.

Makes use of Updated firmware via SF-1222 Sandforce Controller - 7.3 WEI Doesn't do dishes... This is my second Vertex 2 - I got the 60Gb E version for my Desktop for my Boot/Game drive, and have not looked back. I'm putting this into a HP dv7-4165dx and it's a beast now. Wanted to get a little additional space then the 60GB. This does the job and then some - install was a snap - Sandforce controllers are the finest - I advise the Vertex 2 to any person.

I had Kingston SSD ahead of. It worked fine. Immediately after I purchased this SSD, I believed I would get superior functionality. But, I did not. When I sue Kingston SSD, the boot time is 30 second (I have a softwware which reports boot time) Soon after I switch to this SSD, the boot time becomes 28 sec. two seconds more rapidly. But, it is a lot far more high-priced comparing with Kingston 64GB V series SSD.So, what is pros? NONE! What is the probelm for this SSD? A lot more than 50% of time, it does not boot! Why? The screen shows that no bootable file was found. I have to shut down the laptop and shake the case a handful of seconds or wait a few minutes and try once again. It genuinely makes the SSD to be the slowest drive in the planet. I thought it was my MB challenge. I upgrade to the newest BIOS and nevertheless have the problem. I search internet website and identified I am not the only person who has the challenge. It is very common. I attempted to upgrade the firmware. But, I cannot. Ƒ) the firmware upgrade does not compatible with Intel driver. ƒ)SO, I boot from linus and no network connection is available. Ɠ)I took it out and use it as USB drive. But, Firmwre tool box doe snot recognize it. I named OCZ, I was told that I have to get an additional HD and set up a new OS to upgrade. I did. but, the problem nevertheless exists. If you want to pay much more to acquire this SSD, you only get 2 seconds more rapidly than other slow SSD. Not worth it.If you want to use this SSD, be prepare that you will have much more than 50% of likelihood that it takes a few minutes to boot and wait for day till the time you are lucky to boot. I asked OCZ to send me a newone and was refsued. I was told all OCZ Vertex SSD has this difficulty. Manufacturer Response:Hello, we aplogize for the difficulties. As far as boot speed, you are comparing an SSD to an SSD, and a 2 second speed increase is almost 7 %. Boot speed is influenced by other variables as nicely. We are pleased to work with our shoppers to resolve their troubles on our assistance forums at the hyperlink beneath. We do have a new v1.32 firmware release that has resolved the booting problem in almost all systems. Please pay us a pay a visit to. Thank youExternal Hyperlink(s): OCZ Assistance Forums|

Drive installed really quickly. I utilised a cloning program to clone my conventional disc to the SSD drive. As soon as it was completed I dropped the drive into my laptop that was operating Windows XP and it booted right up. I did not see as considerably of an improvement on my laptop as on my Windows 7 technique. I presume that is simply because my laptop is operating a 32 bit dual core Intel processor rather of a 64 bit processor. Nonetheless, the speed improvement was important enough to warrant the purchase. You can definitely extend the life of an older laptop. All that comes with the drive is a quick commence installation guide states that it is a complement to the owners manual. I have not identified the user's manual either on the drive or on OCZ's web page. There is a toolkit on the OCZ internet site available for download. Only challenge is that you can not update the firmware on a system running windows XP. When you pick the firmware update the computer software tells you that the feature doesn't perform with XP. I could find no way to update the firmware on a system operating XP. I fully grasp that you don't need to have or want to use the defrag alternative on a SSD drive. In Windows 7 you disable the choice, but as far as I can tell there is no comparable option in XP. I guess you just have to know and remember this. The packaging was a uncomplicated cardboard frame containing the drive and the three.five" bracket shipped by way of DHL/USPS in a blister bag. The write-up was not damaged but it was not packaged as properly as other SSD drives that I have purchased I would look at this to be a OEM package. No supporting computer software was delivered with the drive. You have to go download it from OCZ. If you didn't know how to set up the drive the installation guide could not get the job carried out for a novice. Practically nothing in the rapid start guide mentions the toolkit or advises you to go to the OCZ webside. I would expect the software to come with the drive or to give the URL to use to go download the info.A novice demands to do some study initial just before attempting to set up this drive simply because a lot of assumptions are made that you currently know how to set up SSD drives. The quick begin guide tends to make the assumption that the drive is getting installed into a desktop machine with no mention about a laptop.Overall, I am nonetheless fairly satisfied with the drive and would buy it once more.

The price tag newegg is promoting it for is cheaper than what i paid at Get last week. Thats the only "Pro" i see! I just got a single of these drives since of the SF-1222 controller and great advertised speed. What i got was not what i ordered. I got a single of the newer models with the 25nm nand. Needless to say, immediately after hours of researching why my drive seemed slow i found this dirty trick that OCZ is pulling. 170 study and 59 create! That is not what i paid for!!!!!So far this has been a Negative experience with my first SSD! I completed A LOT of investigation just before pulling the trigger on this drive. Only to have OCZ switch factors around and make it SLOWER. Great! This drive replaced 2 Kingston SSDNow 64 GB drives I had in RAID . When the RAID was fresh and new, it blazed. But, not even the "Wipe Cost-free Space" function of CCleaner could save the array from suffering its fate of huge slowdown. My method went to a crawl. I wanted to scrap the array and get a drive with TRIM support that would be more rapidly than any of the single Kingston drives. This 1 blazes! NONE. I should have held out and got this 1 as my initial drive.

Drive is quickly and functions really effectively on my Compaq V6000T laptop. Installed with out any issues under Windows XP home with SP3 installed. I cloned the drive utilizing Acronis True Image prior to installing it. The drive is running on firmware version 1.29 which was the recent revision when I purchased the drive. A new version of the firmware, version 1.32, is out now, but I can find no way to install it on a system operating Windows XP. I even took the drive out and place it in an external case and plugged it into a windows 7 box through a USB cable. The OCZ toolkit did not recognize the drive on a USB port. I checked the OCZ forums and even posted a message asking how to update the firmware. I am not confident I received a response or not. There was a post that mentioned to flash the firmware beneath Linux, but considering that it didn't incorporate the message that the reply was for I am not confident if the answer was mine. Other than that I didn't get a response. I was particularly disappointed that the OCZ site does not have instructions on how to flash the drive below Windows XP. Their website says that the OCZ toolkit is compatible with XP, but you can't flash the firmware under XP. Firmware problem 1.32 fixes a quite severe error and I would like to set up it devoid of possessing to crack open the case on a windows 7 box and plug it into a SATA port on the motherboard. Nevertheless, I see no other way of undertaking it. I don't assume that you must have to work this difficult to flash the firmware if the drive is listed as becoming compatible with Windows XP. I don't think the drive is ready for prime time beneath Windows XP. This deficiency is adequate to steer me away from any future OCZ SSD drives. Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry for any confusion about flashing your drive. We have linked to the version 1.32 thread on our support forums under. You will come across links to the guides you will nee to flash below Linux. Please feel no cost to post particular questions, and our forum staff will answer. more quickly than HDD. Expense was appealing. I have had this drive for nearly 2 weeks and am already experiencing issues. two out of each and every ten cold boots the SDD fails, as if its not even there. Following a warm boot (ctrl+alt+del) or a power cycling Ƒ-three occasions) the device usually boots up and runs fine. OSZ forums dont offer you any aid or answers to this issue (that I have personally observed soon after hours of research/reading there) and threads are filled w/ numerous other frustrated buyers with equivalent troubles.MOBO BIOS update produced no difference right here and applying a FW update to the SSD is practically not possible if you are utilizing the SSD as a major drive (tried OSZ's suggestions of using linux tool Parted Magic as effectively as booting from a Win7 disc and updating through the CMD line) each techniques fail. On the other hand, customers on OSZ forums report that the problem nonetheless persists even following a successful FW update. Hopefully the drive wont die on me, but I am anticipating difficulty due to its erratic boot behavior this early on. Purchaser beware. Due to the erratic overall performance of this drive in the course of POST (only 2 weeks in) and the limited and frustrating nature of consumer service I have noticed on the OSZ forum, I will be certain to by no means purchase yet another item from them, I dont will need the hassle. Much faster than the Vertex 30GB it replaced. The vertex 30gb scored 5.9 on WEI but was operating at full speed anyway, it just didn't register. It scored 7.1 on my preceding Lenovo SL410. Now I switched to a SAMSUNG NP-QX410 and the Vertex 2 scores 7.6. Atto indicates speeds are as advertised. BIOS to fully loaded desktop in 14 seconds, I like those numbers. None so far. Paid 财 for a Vertex 30GB a year ago, now 贱 (after rebate) for a vertex two 80GB. At this rate I'll get a Vertex 3 or related with 256GB for ~贘 in 1 year or so and it will be SATA three. Mix that with a new instant-boot -sec BIOS and it will boot in below 5 seconds. Instant computing is just around the corner.GET One particular NOW!!! YOU WONT REGRET IT!

To be honest, I believe all brand named SSD are just as very good. Cloning from SATA HDD is simple, if you clone your HDD for backup. absolutely nothing is various with this SSD.* Us SSD owners must inform our loved ones about SSD. I have two running in RAID as my technique drive, which shows up as 148GB...Win7 boots extremely fast...I utilised to have to wait a minute following booting ahead of I can begin doing anything, but now it's prepared as soon as my desktop is visible. Also, apps load incredibly quick. With all my style/art/music apps installed, I still have about 93GB totally free... Still fairly expensive...Hoping the capacities get more substantial and more affordable over the subsequent few years. I had issues installing initially where the drives would not show up in BIOS from cold boot, but then show up when I reboot...this was solved quickly by updating the BIOS. Once I solved this challenge, I had none from there. If one thing ever takes place and the SSDs fail, it will be tough to go back to the slower speeds of HDDs.

Fast installation (Win7), rapid boot time. General quicker response than the mechanical HDD it replaced, but not as dramatic as I'd expected in this Lenovo Y series laptop. Rates finding superior but still Really high for these capacities in my opinion. Value. Also, not as rapid as a Mushkin Callisto I just purchased, even although the OCZ are considerably far more 'hyped'. The Callisto's efficiency is a lot more 'dramatic' and true to specs than this Vertex two. I will personally obtain another Mushkin Callisto when rates come down a bit more.

Rapidly, inexpensive SSD. The initially drive stopped operating within two weeks. I had Newegg replace it, but the replacement went negative inside the week. Now it is also late to get a refund / replacement by means of Newegg. I wish I had gone with a different brand. The similar factor happened to both drives; they would basically cease getting detected by the computer system. I strongly advise deciding on a diverse brand. Hopefully OCZ will send a replacement without much hassle. It is ridiculous to see how several folks are possessing the exact identical dilemma right after buying this item while on sale. It makes me wonder if Newegg is attempting to use value cuts / specials to get rid of all the faulty hardware from previous RMA's...
