Quick drive, just a little slower than advertised. At the moment installed in new G73SW-XT1 as boot drive. Obtaining 270MB/s Create, 279 MB/s Read speeds max. Truly kills the caviar black 7200 RPM 500Gb drive that came in the laptop. All you individuals pondering SSD's are going to get cheaper in the next year can hold dreaming. I purchased my 1st SSD the day they came out. 60GB OCZ core series for about 趤. Nicely yeah now you can get 60GB for alot less costly but the usable 120's and above are nonetheless going to be $. You get what you spend for. Formatted, the drive is only 167, so with the new 25nm memory cells you are losing a tiny but the value makes up for it. A lot of individuals are having drive failures with the new OCZ Vertex 2's but this one particular seems to be fine. If you want a single thats the older 32nm memory that hasnt had any challenges, appear for the model numbers with-out the "E" in the quantity. I took a opportunity on this one and made it out. I have had numerous OCZ and other manufacture's SSD's and so far OCZ, Corsair, and Gskill are the ideal. Have had challenges with other individuals. Working wonderful as the G73 boot drive. OCZ will replace if you have difficulties so don't worry about finding a dud (other than the time to get the new one). Oh yeah OCZ, please do what corsair is undertaking and rename the new 25nm drives with their right size soon after format. Hell, get in touch with it a 170 Gb, folks will be fine with it.

Incredibly quick! OCZ deal with Sandforce provides the Vertex two the identical higher speed random writes as the Enterprise class drives. Price tag. As with all SSDs, you will need to tweak Windows 7 and BIOS settings to get optimal functionality. Did I mention the Price tag? Much quicker thar the hard drive it replaced. My laptop is is Substantially more rapidly now!

Very rapidly drive when it's not failing. Produced our database accesses 20x quicker! My employer bought four of these drives for me to test in our blade center (IBM HS21). Some of our Vertex2 had firmware 1.11 and other individuals had firmware 1.25. With drives of both firmware versions we had recurring troubles. Drive periodically disappears (shuts down/crashes) and does not re-seem until reboot. This is beneath pretty hefty load and occurs about as soon as a week. Newer firmware operates a lot worse than the old 1 did. This is apparently a drive with buggy firmware pushed beyond its limits to attempt and take top rated marks in speed (which it did).It is definitely not proper for heavy use and may possibly not be good for even typical desktop use. Overall performance, speed, and everything loads on my computer truly rapidly. It's like obtaining a new super-laptop or computer. I have three computers, and this is the second solid state drive I purchased to replace a tricky drive in my notebook. When I had seasoned my very first ssd on my other computer system, there was no going back to a tough drive. I can see where I'll be purchasing an additional ssd for my third computer! Thanks OCZ and as often thanks to Newegg for the a lot of years they have supported me for my computer requirements. None Make positive trim is enabled to take total advantage of this ssd. I in no way knew what trim was until I bought this drive and educated myself about the rewards.

Ideal now I'm not certain if there is any. From me there has been a high failure rate, three out of 3. I identified some were on the net that these drives only have about a three% failure rate....I guess the 3 drives I got were in that three%. I order 2 drives from newegg and in 1 day the initial drive failed, I sent the drive back and received the replacement and that drive failed soon after four days. The 2ed drive began finding errors right after 3 days, and failed the win7 os installed on the drive. Manufacturer Response:Hello, we apologize for the unusual troubles. Outstanding performance. I imaged my original drive to an external USB drive, popped this in, copied the image back, and bingo. I use a lot of engineering software program on my Lenovo W500 laptop and this thing is sooooo considerably faster in beginning major programs and loading big assemblies. I couldn't be happier. I am running Windows Vista and over the final two years of installs, uninstalls, updates, and so forth., the computer has slowed to a crawl when it had to swap out memory to the page file. This would happen typically, for example if I minimized Solidworks for a handful of hours and two GB of data would be transferred to the web page file. When I went back to SW, it could take a number of minutes to get it back to a working state. Now it takes 1 to 5 seconds. It's that superior. None. Get it.

SSD's, in common, are considerably quicker than traditional mechanical drives. This drive failed soon after four.five months of use. When it failed, my technique froze then crashed and could not reboot. When attempting to reboot, the BIOS would hang for virtually a minute (during the 'detecting drives' sequence). BIOS could not detect the SSD. I tested all ports and cables and they were functioning fine. I tested my other drives on another system. They had been fine. When I unplugged the SSD from the computer system, the BIOS no longer hung. I put the SSD in my other system. It failed to boot and the BIOS hung through the 'detecting drives' procedure. My conclusion: it's the SSD. OCZ responded swiftly. Soon after receiving my RMA'd SSD, they made available to replace it with the exact same model drive. Not willing to trust the similar model, I submitted a written request that they give me a credit towards a distinct drive and I would spend the difference. The request went unanswered. I named and left a message and did not acquire a reply. I referred to as again and spoke with a consumer service rep and produced the request once again. He replied that they could not do that simply because there is no purchasing technique in location for the end user. So, I am acquiring an identical replacement drive. This could be OCZ's policy which from which they do not vary. On the other hand, the cause I received was inane and nonresponsive. In my twelve years of placing with each other my personal systems, each and every business I have referred to as except OCZ have been able to charge my credit card for parts. I would also have liked OCZ to have been additional accommodating, taking into consideration their product failed and I was willing to keep with their company. Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry for the difficulties, and we appreciate your comments. Consumer feedback is crucial in rethinking and shaping our future policies. Thank you

So far none. Reliability is an concern. Interestingly adequate when that is the case NewEgg limits return policy with "replacement only". Why do I have to pay for shipping this trash back? At this point I wish I could return this for complete refund and attempt Revodrive x2 as an alternative. If taking so substantially threat then may possibly as properly go for triple performance.

1-Newegg shipping-inside 26 hours of order "time". No one can beat that. 2-Setup with Windows 7 HP 64bit/fresh install like any typical windows install, just quicker 3-Updated to firmware 1.23 no difficulties. four-ATTO Disk benchmark tool (freeware) delivered 270-275MB write뢗-280MB read. Runs as advertised. 5-This sucker is "quiet", following install I held my ear to my Alienware Aurora to listen to any difficult drive noise, my quiet fans had been louder which are really quiet :) Didnt know if the HD was spinning. six-got tired of waiting for Intell SSD to go down in cost and I jumped on the 跽 following rebate 7-Not a con-180GB, usable space 167.7GB which is expected. 8-Max Pc evaluation got my interest to appear at OCZ. Some one particular with typical expertise will have trouble discovering great details about this OCZ SSD if a first timer like me. 1-I didnt know exactly where to appear for tools, firmware. Expected the danger of failure to damage the SSD. Had to do some searching but I discovered the firmware at OCZ, ATTO Disk Benchmarking tool was by accident, but appears to be a excellent tool to test the SSD. two-dont know what's up with the "windows encounter rating of five.9? In all probability some config's I need to do, but then once again, exactly where is a great supply of this information? challenging to uncover. Very first time buyer of SSD, it functions as advertised. I am of little understanding of SSD, so in the days ahead I will acquire what I lack right now :)Yes it is worth the obtain of a SSD to go along with a high top quality Desktop Pc. The tricky drive was the slowest link untill now. I have had the SSD install now for six hours and still operating LOL

The drive was DOA so I can't comment on it substantially. I also identified the support structure to be lacking. I hugely encourage everybody to check out the organizations assistance web-site and see if items are to your standards just before generating a acquire. As for pros, the price tag and evaluations seemed appealing. The placement of the SATA data and energy connectors are such that this drive won't cooperate with the name brand front loading drive case that I bought. The connectors are just off enough that it won't slide into location and connect. This forced me to attempt and use the lower drive bays and forfeit the front loading bays and custom fit cables to increase airflow, but the adapter bracket for this drive put the screw holes in non-typical locations. This implies that -tool instances that attempt to make the installation less difficult will probably not be in a position to mount this drive. I have to drill holes in my mounting brackets to attach this device to my case. In addition the screw holes for the bracket that came with the drive were quite little in comparison to what most drives use which lead me to borrow screws from other projects to additional help make it fit. Was incredibly excited about the evaluations of other people and the prospective speed increase I would receive. I could not get this drive to be noticed by the motherboard. I have a really present MB with an updated bios. I could get other SATA devices to detect on Just about every port, but this drive not on any. I spent a fair amount of research for bios settings and compatibility and could not get this drive to perform for me. Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are incredibly sorry for the challenge. A replacement drive through Newegg will have you operating fine. We have our assistance forums, and internal help as well available by means of the link below as properly. Applications do fly open (example Photoshop four opens in just two seconds, Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate opens in 2 seconds, Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Chrome all open under 1 second. It does all of this at the identical time with only 4G of memory on my laptop, quite pleased. none at this time.

Great price tag per Gigabyte, contains adapter plate Not as quickly as slower rated drives!Quite difficult to upgrade firmware. Not as rapid as a yet another slower rated SSD Drive. (Using HHD tune and other benchmarks.) Disappointing :(Pretty much impossible to upgrade firmware when installed in a laptop. OCZ software program does not allow you to update primary drive. When installed as an attached USB drive, OCZ software fails to recognize it. Ughhhhhh! Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry for any issues you have experienced. I love this purchase! The only dissapointment was that it does not sleep on my laptop, making me have to restart the computer each time. 20 second bootup, 3 second shutdown, so not as bad, but I'd like to keep everything up so I can use my laptop immediately. Also the speeds arn't the best on my laptop for some reason.Using Asus ul30vt.

Cons: Price per gig is still a little high for SSDs. The coming of the faster next gen SATA3 drives, didnt drive down the prices as low as I thought. But I guess we need to give it a little more time.

Pros: Super Fast! and I got it for a good deal on sale from NCIX.com
Comment:
This is easily the best upgrade you will ever do on your PC. Windows 7 takes just over 20 seconds to boot up. Apps take little to no time to install/open/close. Also another plus, I now get a 7.8 score on this drive in Windows 7's WEI! Very neat. I have only owned this for 1 day. But I am hopeful that this performance will last.OCZ is a good and reliable company. The drive also comes with 3 years warranty.

Cons: Apparently common to Sandforce 1200 drives: Sleep/hibernate BSOD with my some laptops.

Pros: Blazing performance. The price isn't horrible if you combine a sale and rebate offer.
Comment:
I bought this HDD for my Dell 1012. Blue screens whenever it would resume from sleep or hibernate. Apparently there is an issue with the controller responding too slowly and the BIOS not waiting for it. Unfortunately due to the crippled Dell BIOS there was nothing I could do. I put my old 64GB OCZ Summit in the Dell and use this SSD for my desktop. Unfortunately I don't have much storage space now, and who really needs 180GB of SSD for a desktop? It is blazingly fast, at least as fast as the 60GB (original Vertex 2) and the Corsair F60. I get an WEI of 7.7 which is sweet. From this SSD I can sustain transfers to an external USB 3.0 drive of over 100 MB/S. I transferred a 15 GB iso in less than two minutes. Awesome stuff.Such a shame about the compatibility issues, it would be a five star item otherwise!

Cons: In a laptop, the SSD greatly improves performance, but greatly reduced battery life as well. Reading up on it, it seems the reduced battery life is due to the other components now having to work harder to keep up with the SSD.Dead drive after 2 weeks. RMA'd it with no issue. Just waiting on my replacement to show up.

Pros: Greatly improved load times. Improved overall laptop performance.
Comment:
The performance is greatly improved with a SSD. I've found this in my laptop (Toshiba L300) as well as the multiple builds I've used the 120GB version in. The prices are starting to drop  making these very viable options in new builds for O/S and program install drive. The 180GB I put in my laptop died after 2 weeks, but I'm not going to write these off yet. When my SSD died, I had just done a proper shut-down of Windows 7. When I went to power my laptop back on a few minutes later, no drive was detected. I moved the drive to 2 other PC's and could not see the drive in "Disk Management." NCIX Langley RMA'd it for me with no hassle. If the 2nd SSD dies on me, I'll be more skeptical, but I have 3 of the 120GB models running smoothly on workstations.
