Operates with my Pentium D, fits in my CM Storm just fine. Has sufficient SATA ports. Board is organized strangely. The processor port appears to be a small up and to the left of exactly where regular boards have them. This was only an inconvenience since I am employing a Cooler Master V8 cooler and it caused me to eliminate the top mounted 140mm fan in my case. Good board for the price. RAM settings can be a small difficult to work with. Mine will energy on 3 times before posting due to the fact I have two separate speeds of RAM, but that's a private dilemma :PSuggested if you have an older LGA 775 board poop the suit and nonetheless want gaming capabilities with PCI Ex two..

Replaced my old MSI P6N Diamond mobo with this and I delighted with not getting to drop a lot of income on new CPU and Memory. None... ATM My WHS had getting giving me the most random issues. I did all the normal test, MenTest, DFT, Virus scans, even a Server Reinstall. Nonetheless acquiring random BSOD and Difficult drives not displaying up in BIOS, just random stuff.

Never ever located out... Is it feasible that this thing is not compatible with SSD drives, even on the latest firmware? When the Kingston 64 GB SSD is connected, it POSTs, brings up the Hardware Monitor, and stays there without booting. If I swap the SSD with a typical challenging drive, it boots to Windows setup on a USB flash drive just fine. It will also not boot from CD's or DVD's. If I can't run the laptop off the SSD, the entire setup is useless to me. This was not meant to be a correct functionality machine by any means; far more like a file server. Just because it's low-cost does not imply it shouldn't function appropriately.

Nice aesthetics. Strong physical construct. Smaller ATX excluding the 3 screws for less cluttering. That's as far as pros go except price (You get what you pay for). Normally terrible in practically every single meaningful aspect. It runs sluggish beyond belief; it took Ӯ hours to install Windows 7 since it would arbitrarily lag on installation menus. Took forever to even begin installation--I had to go among AHCI and IDE settings several instances as other people have complained. It has a Horrible BIOS. This board runs my Q6600 30% hotter than my XFX 680i SLI due to forced auto voltage settings. Again, ****YOU Cannot edit voltages manually and counteract the overstimation**. The auto-voltage goes as higher as 1.29-1.30 and that is just absurd for a stock Q6600 @ two.4ghz. Some might argue that this is fine, but it accounts for an unnecessary jump in 15-17c. I consider not. Numerous overclockers can stably hit three.0ghz+ without needing 1.three volts. As a result, my temps hit 65c~ on load versus 44c~. It begins out around 35c idle then climbs up to 45-48c. It is just ridiculous. Bottom line: if you like melting your CPU mainly because of actually one particular variable--a new motherboard, get i Seriously, just avoid this motherboard. I was feeling brave and went with it despite several grand complaints and now I'm disappointed to no end. From now on I will usually verify BIOS types and functions just before I obtain a motherboard. This signifies so a lot that, even if this motherboard have been 29.99, it would probably not be worth purchasing unless you have a ridiculous cooler. I have a Thermaltake so there's no cause for it to get that hot.

Has a floppy connector, IDE connector and lots of USB connectors. BIOS wanted to overclock the CPU when very first started - causing the method to fail to boot. I had to figure out how to set CPU to failsafe defaults. My CPU has an 800Mhz FSB and the BIOS initially wanted to set it to 1066Mhz. Right after setting to failsafe defaults the CPU was recognized at its correct speed and it booted up fine. I wanted to upgrade to PCI Express two. so I could install an EVGA GeForce GTX 570 video card and hold my socket 775 CPU. I did replace the EIDE drive with a SATA drive. Other people have mentioned that it won't boot with an EIDE drive, but I have not attempted this, so I cannot confirm. This board had all the features I needed (including a floppy connector - which is hard to locate). I do have to place the keyboard and mouse in the very first two USB connectors. Other than the initial situation with the BIOS wanting to push the CPU beyond its limits on the very first boot, the board has been functioning fine given that installation. I set CPU to failsafe defaults. I was not looking to overclock - I just wanted to be capable to use the GTX 570 (which is excellent BTW). I'm operating Windows XP Household and upgraded from an Asus P5LD2.

Exactly where to begin? Gigabit LAN, wonderful number of SATA and USB ports, uncomplicated to fully grasp BIOS, roomy layout, extremely quickly and reliable. None. This is my first Biostart board, I have historically purchased Gigabyte boards exclusively but immediately after two DOA and two RMA boards in the previous year I had to switch my loyalty. I was a bit wary due to the fact of the low price but this board has been rock solid and faster than snot. I am running Windows Server 2003 R2 and it boots in below ten seconds. I also ran it with Windows Server 2008 R2 and it was just as quick. Both WinXP and Win7 installed without issue as nicely. For my first Biostar board ever ྯ+ years of system developing) this thing has been unbelievably great. I couldn't be happier unless it came with eSATA but for ๑ I have adequate income to get a card if I will need it. Wonderful job Biostar, so long Gigabyte.

No concept... Immediately after a effective POST, you would assume a boot device would be discovered and the setup process of an OS could commence. It located the DVD drive, spun up the disc, the disc sooner or later spun down, and I was stuck on a screen that said "CD-ROM Boot Priority ..Boot Prepared." I received the exact same result with SATA optical drives, IDE optical drives, AHCI mode, IDE mode, with factory installed BIOS and with updated BIOS. I attempted configuring flash drives to install the OS, and though this got farther, soon after loading files, it said 'winload.exe' could not be located and setup could not continue (Windows Server 2008 R2). Subsequent I tried XP setup on a flash drive. Whilst this got farther, it would not detect my SSD due to lack of AHCI drivers (not supplied on the website). Soon after possibly acquiring AHCI drivers from the Intel web page, the motherboard decides it does not like booting from flash drives anymore. At this point, it will boot from nothing at all. Also late to get a refund. I undoubtedly don't want a matching replacement. This motherboard is dead to me.

Does what I need, Quick, fairly. I suppose absolutely nothing stands out as exceptional, but it ties my parts with each other, which is what it's supposed to do. The in-BIOS BIOS upgrader was slick, given that I couldn't get an OS installed to use their utility. I have a Pentium Dual-Core E6500, and 4G of G-ability 1067 RAM. It was scared of both of them out of the box. It clocked my RAM at 600 somethin, and my processor (rated at two.93Ghz) at two.20Ghz. Updated my BIOS, and it got the processor right, but my RAM was nevertheless at 800. Right after setting the RAM speed by hand, it had the speed and the timings appropriate. After that was set, it memtested correct, and worked excellent. I'm not really positive what the deal is, but this mobo seems to HATE AHCI. It defaults to the IDE Compatibility mode (which is LAME-O). I set it to AHCI, and it takes precisely one particular metric eon to POST. When in AHCI mode, the Windows 7 installer disk would not boot. It hung at the pretty "Starting Windows" animation (on the install disk, not after I installed windows). Linux booted in AHCI mode just fine. Turned AHCI off, and back to IDE mode, and it installed like a charm."Well Alex, if it aint' broke, don't fix it. AMIRITE?" Nicely, certain, but I'd actually like AHCI to function. AHCI implies NCQ, and NCQ indicates more quickly disk efficiency. The rest of my hw performs fine with it. I have an IDE Sammy DVD burner, and a (gigabyte?) Nvidia 8500. My HDD is an older Maxtor 120G SATA.

It a mobo. Standard which was all I necessary for project. Ought to have been a straightforward create. DOA waiting for replacement. Don't take brief cuts not worth it. Nevertheless waiting on replacement. Will update once I get a very good board. I've been waiting over a month to get this system up. Glad my old program is up she's never ever let me down. Had a really hard time installing Windows XP never installed. All type of errors. Going back to Intel Motherboards.

Value, ram capacity No onboard graphics, no chassis fan control, no cpu fan manage with three-pin I didn't thoughts the lack of onboard graphics. This was bought as part of a low end gaming rig for a buddy. The inability to control fan speed was an concern although. I ended up choosing up a fan controller. I bought a 'silent' CPU fan as nicely, but at 100%, it was nowhere close to silent. General, it's not a bad board for the price tag, but if you don't really feel like choosing up a fan controller, you may want to invest a couple of bucks a lot more and invest in a far better board.

Does have fan manage for both CPU, 3 or 4 pin, settable in BIOS, plus a three pin chassis fan header also. Doesnt assistance some 775's some commenter wrote (pcgirl) they had to obtain a controller. You can see from the pictures of the motherboard, it has each fan headers, this person ought to not have the very same board.
