Cons: EZ-backup SATA port won't work properly when RAID is enabled.

Pros: Great overclocking resultsInexpensive
Comment:
I wasn't really planning to buy this motherboard for my Q6600, since I was going to stay with an LGA775 platform until LGA2011. But my previous DFI X48-based motherboard unexpectedly died, so I needed a replacement. I was thinking of purchasing an LGA 1366 based system, but decided to stay with my current hardware, since I don't really like spending a lot of money on something that will get phased out soon when Intel will launch Sandy Bridge E platform (LGA 2011).Since LGA 775 is getting phased out it was hard to find a suitable motherboard that would fit my needs. I needed 2 PCI-e 16x slots for a videocard and a dedicated physx card, 8 sata ports, and DDR2 support. This board seemed to be the only available that fit my needs except for the fact it has only 5 SATA ports running off ICH southbridge. The colored SATA ports are running off a different controller, which will not work in EZ-backup or Superspeed mode when RAID is enabled. What really amazed me is the overclocking capabilities of this board, I mean I could only reach 3.4ghz on $400 motherboard, while with this $100 board I easily overclocked my Q6600 to 3.6ghz.

Pros: User friendly BIOS, top quality 775 board for a reasonable price. Also came in a really pretty box.

OC'd my Q9550 to 3.4 on stock voltage so there wasn't much Vdrop  at all. Got it stable to 3.8 but had issues with my ram after that so I'm not sure how far this board can really push the chip.

I bought this motherboard so I could use 8gb of RAM and overclock my E5400. This motherboard has all the overclocking features in the world! I got my 2.7GHz E5400 to 4GHz without breaking a sweat! I still have more to go. Another feature is DDR2 1300MHz. It supports that type of RAM. I got this motherboard from NCIX for $105 including shipping and taxes as an open box, but it works very well!

I purchased this motherboard for a clients uprade. The shipping was great and the price was fair. The istalation of the board went quite well and it was already updated with the bios. I have only complaint about this board There are only 3 case fan 3 pins on this board 1 at the top and 2 in the middle. One of them in the centre is for the power fan wich cannot be adjusted in the bios. So I had to get creative, but problem resolved. It is definatly a midrange board that has lots of goodies for overclockers.

Cons: Well, the tech isn't exactly new. Could have better onboard audio.

Pros: Top of the mainstream board at a very affordable price. High quality build and stability.
Comment:
I bought this as a replacement motherboard since my P5B Deluxe died of a PSU attack. I picked this model because it was the only affordable LGA775 motherboard with Intel ICH-R chipset: I didn't want to lose my RAID drives. It worked flawlessly! Drives were recognized and mounted intact. I didn't even reinstall Windows and actually got away with it.If you have to replace an LGA775 mobo with an Intel Chipset, this board might be your best choice. For a new build, consider that this is 2 generations old.

Great Price with MIRPerfect for my q6600Nice Copper HeatsinksGreat OC'er Reliable, I have 6GB of Kingston RAM running in dual channels, with a Intel q6600 running at stock currently. This board has been stable, I have one issue with the main sata port not recognizing a Corsair R60, but i think this is a corsair issue since all my other SSD worked fine in the sata port. the board just looks good.

A fair purchase for the price/performance. It overclocks well and generally great all-round. For the price, it's great for aging systems that you want to keep around for a few more years.

Comment:
I have owned Asus boards for years and found them to be excellent products. However, my last Asus board was a pooch right out of the box: had to RMA it once and it never did work properly. So I had a little trepidation when it came to buying another. There are a ton of hardware site reviews and user reviews, largely favourable, on this board's predecessor, the P5Q Pro. However, there is less info on this version. One question that comes up, and it interested me as well, was what, if any, differences there were between this board and the original P5Q Pro. So I set off to find out. For anyone interested, here is what I found:The P5Q Pro and the P5Q Pro turbo are very similar, but not identical, boards. They differ, for example, in the number of internal SATA connectors: the Pro has 2 channels off the Silicon Image controller and six off the P45 southbridge for a total of eight, while the Pro Turbo loses one of the southbridge channels, for a total of seven. The Pro uses a Marvel controller to support PATA drives, while the Pro Turbo uses a JMicron chip to support one PATA channel plus 1 eSATA channel. There is an eSATA port therefore on the rear I/O panel of the Turbo which is absent on the plain Pro. The Pro uses a Realtek chip for audio and a LSI chip for firewire, while the turbo uses Via chips for both. On the back panel, the Pro has a Coaxial S/PDIF_OUT port, while the turbo has an Optical S/PDIF_OUT port. The Pro also comes with a floppy connector, that is missing from the Pro Turbo. The Pro therefore includes a floppy cable in it's bundle which the Turbo bundle does not. The Pro bundle also includes a two connector SATA power cable adapter that isn't included with the Pro Turbo. The Pro also has a TPM connector that the Turbo does not. In terms of board layout, the two boards are almost identical, with some small exceptions: on the Pro there is an internal COM1 connector located near the end of the second PCI-E slot that has been moved down to the bottom of the board where the floppy connector used to be. Presumeably this avoids interfering with a second PCI-E card if installed. Small changes are also evident in the locations of the CMOS battery, the onboard power LED and CLRTC jumper block. The connector for cassis fan 2 has been moved from near the bottom of the board on the Pro, to the top of the board on the Pro Turbo. The Turbo has added a heatsink to the mosfets situated above the CPU socket that is absent on the plain Pro, and some minor changes to the cooling fins on the southbridge heatsink that may be largely cosmetic. Last, and for some, perhaps, least, you get the Turbo feature on the, wait for it, Turbo model. With overclocking having become almost standard procedure it is probably not a particularly useful feature. Other than that, the two boards are fundamentally the same and the few reviews of the Turbo around indicate that it performs much the same as its older brother.OK, so, satisfied that the board was generally well-received I picked one up on sale and with a rebate it came down to about a hundred bucks, which was a pretty good deal. And, I'm happy to say, my (limited) experience with the board so far has been good. Booted up fine first try, which is how it should be, unlike that last Asus frisbee I bought. We'll see how it goes in the longer term. There are s couple of things worth mentioning. The new I/O shield design that eliminates the "fingers" and replaces them with a springey foil pad is a winner, IMO. It makes positioning the board for mounting much easier. I had a tad of difficulty with my EPS12V (8 pin) cable, since I have the PSU bottom-mounted and the connector is at the top of the board. The cable was long enough, but I had to tether it to keep it away from the fins on my video card cooler. Can't please everybody, though. Also, I did a little head scratching until I checked in the manual to find out what the two red connectors were above the firewire port on the I/O panel. The colour kinda threw me. Just two of the USB ports that they made red instead of black. So far, I'm happy with it.

First board arrived with a defective chipset. Second board is almost perfect. No real complaints other than the location of some of the fan headers could be improved. The power supply and chassis fan 2 are located right next to the heat pipes on the left side. If you're like me and have your radiators in a push pull config.. the locations could become difficult to work with. As far as functionality and performance, this board is excellent. Even for a 775 ddr2 mobo, this thing rocks.

nice black board to go with case, great for people who want non-flashy components. does the job, working good with q9400 and 2 XFX 5770 cards. I'm a big fan of Asus, no problems with any boards except for that one time i tried to update  the BIOS using the windows bios update  utility, which is why i bought this board. nicely spaced PCI-E 16x slots so the two cards are not pressed against each other, and there is room above the top card for other things - i have my CPU fan controller there.

Cons: -SATA ports turned in towards eachother, so you can't use sata cables with clips on them

Pros: -2xPCE-E for crossfire-Large ram support-Good CMOS
Comment:
I bought this board when I upgraded from an 8800GT to a HD5770 in anticipation of crossfire. I upgraded from a Gigabite p35-ds3l, and the ASUS board has provided much greater performance. I experience quicker boot times, and more stable performace in Windows 7 with the P5Q Pro turbo. The system also includes a Core 2 Quad Q6600, 4GB DDR2-800, and the 5770. It is powered by an Corsair VX450. I plan to upgrade to crossfire soon, with an upgraded power supply. The only problem so far are the SATA ports, which are situated in such a way that if you plug in two back-to-back with clips, you can't undo the clip.

Not only is this mobo a great value but it performs well also. I was amazed how cool it ran. A steady 70 degs f. It has plenty of sata connections and enough usb and firewire and e-sata to please anyone. You can't go wrong with the price combined with the rebate.

While it may seem like there are many availible SATA ports, there's a catch. I have been trying to run 5 drives in a RAID-5 array and use the SII SATA ports for my boot drive. There is a confict when you load the Intel Storeage Matrix drives with Win 7 x64, that renders the boot drive unusable. I also learned that your boot drive can not be larger then 2 TB. Since I am using 5, 2TB drives, I had to resort to using the PATA on and optical disc, and put the boot drives on the SII controller. This makes for a kluggy setup. I guess the board is good for OC and the like, but I want to use it for a file server, and am rather disappointed.

Bought this mobo to build a spare computer with my extra parts left over from my gaming rig upgrade. This is a very solid mobo. No issues at all. I usually buy XFX only but this was the only 775 mobo I could find that was similar to my XFX. I am very pleased with this purchase. I have nothing but good things to say about this mobo. I rec' this hardware.
