Cons: May be a little daunting to set up. Hopefully your VoIP provider has good instructions.

Pros: Once you have it set up, requires no babysitting
Comment:
We bought this unit a year ago to switch our phone service to voip.ms. Thankfully, they have a good guide on their site to help put in the proper settings. It's been rock-solid since! The box is tucked behind books on a bookcase and we often forget it is there. Our neighbor also wants to switch to VoIP so I will recommend this unit. Once you have it set, you don't need to worry about it.

Cons: After I changed my router, PAP2T wouldn't work. Changed back to the old router, it still wouldn't work. The unit had flashing orange/red light, one green night, no ivr, no dialtone, and can't factory reset. I saw its IP on the DHCP client list, but could not access it via a browser. Powered everything off, and it came back with a flashing orange/red light.

Pros: Worked wonderfully for months.
Comment:
I googled the symptons, found that others had had similar problems. No one knew exactly what fried the unit, but it seemed problems may occur when you change the router. I've changed my router twice, plugged and unplugged it many times with no issues. When I switched to Netgear N4500 router, my PAP2T would not work again. The only solution is to buy a new unit.

Cons: It doesn't work well with some routers

Pros: Reliable Easy to setup
Comment:
This small ATA does the job, but not so well with my situation.I plugged it behind Asus WL-520GU router, but couldn't receive calls. I tried DMZ and port forwarding, yet my phone can't catch the incoming call. Eventually, I bought SPA2102 that can sit between modem and the router.

Cons: Need instructions from your voip provider for setup

Pros: does everything I needed it to dothis is fairly common device, most voip providers have instructions on how to set it up with them
Comment:
I am using this happily with voip.ms. They have a wiki with instructions on how to exactly set up this adapter to be used with their servers.

Cons: ...?

Pros: Reliable. Setup right away.
Comment:
Bought this almost a week ago, followed the instructions on Callcentric's website and was setup within minutes. Worked right away. Has a status light for both 'Line 1' and 'Line 2'. I am currently only using 'Line 1' so that light is on - which is great for walking by and checking to make sure you're still connected without having to touch a computer. Caller ID worked right away with no setup. Can it get any easier?

Pros: 2 lineslots of configuration options
Comment:
This little device is awesome. I used it with a voip.ms account. Had a few hiccups in the configuration, but that is not the fault of the device. Calls were crystal clear, no echo or anything! Break free of the expensive telcos!

Cons: No FXO port(s)

Pros: Clear calls, Fairly easy setup
Comment:
I bought this to get a house phone for my wife when she's at home to save on the mobile bill. Service through voip.ms and have the caller ID show up as her cell number so it fools my cell phone provider into including it with her calls on my My5/Fav5 calls. Calls sound great and the dial plan is very easy to understand.

Cons: Needed to change the SDP header from G729a to G729 for the codec to be recognized under FreeSwitch.

Pros: Unlocked, Supports G729 and works great with FreeSwitch
Comment:
Bought this thing to interface an analog phone to my FreeSwitch box. Comes unlocked as promised by a staff member on an earlier forum post or who else would buy this if it was already locked to a provider?

Cons: Setup a bit daunting at firstNeeds tweaking to get proper rings for some phones

Pros: 2 LinesStable once configured correctlyGreat VOIP call quality
Comment:
I purchased this to take advantage of the voip.ms service having been a Vonage customer for 5+ years. I was paying Vonage around $30/month for a 500 minute plan with an extra virtual number. However, my average usage was only around 200-300 minutes per month.Having seen quite a few raves about the voip.ms service I decided to take the plunge and get the PAP2T. I'm glad I did! With this unit I now have 2 separate telephone lines allowing me to finally separate my home and business lines, and as a bonus my business line is now toll free in North America. After a bit of teething pains with setup and tweaking my WRT54GL router running Tomato (tip: in Tomato lower the UDP timeout to 10ms) this unit has been as solid as the old Motorola Vonage router I've been using for 5+ years, actually likely better since that unit has its issues as well. Call quality wise is as good as Vonage for me, and that is with voip.ms value routing, which kind of indicates that Vonage is likely using value routing anyway. Next up will be an Asterisk box so I can have another trunk as I plan on using freephoneline.ca's service for my local calls and voip.ms for LD, etc.As an added bonus there is also a method to get a free UK number which gets sent to a SIP address for free, so for those with relatives in the UK this is a great method of opening up free calling from them to you.

This is a very robust and highly configurable VoIP adapter. It works with any standard SIP provider and most of them even supply a configuration for it. I’m using it with voip.ms with no issues.

Cons: Can be challenging to setup as a remote extension but there is a lot of support sites on the web that a person can Google.

Pros: Works great with a home based PBX system such as Asterisk. Whether you are setting up a local extension or a remote extension, this is a cost effective unit to use.
Comment:
This is a great cost effective unit to use with a PBX / Asterisk system. I setup 2 of these in one afternoon. One was a local extension and one was a remote extension. The remote extension has no echo or delay and is crystal clear when talking to someone. I will be buying more of these.

Cons: - Slightly confusing setup on the service side.- I would recommend a QoS capable router.- Sounds delayed if you are connected to a high latency service.(not the PAP2T's fault, ping the availible servers for the best results)-takes slightly longer to start ringing than a normal phone, the ring is also "different"

Pros: - It works! - Voice quality is good- Saves me a bundle on my landline cost- hardware setup is very easy
Comment:
I just ditched Telus for Internet and landline. I bought this box to give VOIP a try. I am using voip.ms which provides very very cheap connection service. I have migrated my old telus number to VOIP for a one time charge of $25, and I pay about half a cent per minute to call anywhere in the world.Hardware SetupPlug in the Ethernet, power and your normal phone cable. DONE. Software and Service SetupLog into the PAP2T (mine was found at http://192.168.1.120)Setup under VOIP.ms was slightly confusing, though their instant messenger service is excellent and they will guide you through the process. Sign up for voip.ms it's free until you use the phone. You can pay via credit card or paypal, they email you when your funds are getting low. It would be nicer if they could simply debit your credit card when your account reached $0.00, but they said they are working on adding this soon. Setup fee is $0.50, and some other smalls fees to transfer your old number etc. Once signed up and your number is transferred (2-3 days) or 1-3 hours for a new number, log into the PAP2T, and set it up according to the instructions on VOIP.ms, they have instructions specifically for Linksys models. You will need your user id and password, as well as the server address to connect to. I chose SIP.US3.VOIP.MS (Los Angeles) as the latency was about 43ms, whereas the rest were in the 70-90ms range, yes above 75ms is audible as a delay. (I am in Victoria, BC)Make sure to log into voip.ms and set up your Main DID account to use the same server as the PAP2T or you can't receive incoming calls. (this screwed me up for a few minutes)Make sure to open ports in your router appropriately. (there goes another 10 minutes...)Once you have done all that your should be good to go. This should save me $30+ a month in landline fees, and should pay for itself in about 2-3 months.

This adapter works well. It is easy to setup and works witout a router. Phone quality is good as long as it is getting enough bandwidth (use a router with QoS).

Pros: Works well.
Comment:
This VoIP adapter seems to do its job well. After 2 months usage with SIP VoIP provider Acanac, I am reporting no major problems. Sometimes when I pickup my telephone to place an outgoing call, I do not get a dial-tone (have to hang-up, and try again). I am unsure if this is an error of this device or the service provider.

Cons: Isnt supported by all VOIP providers.

Pros: Does not have a router built into it.
Comment:
I originally bought this to use with CIA. But unfortunately, it isnt supported by them, so I ended up getting the one with the router built into it. Great modem, stable and reliable .. Just annoying that it doesnt work with the less expensive ($5/month) voip provider. be sure to check what your provider will support before you purchase :P
