Cons: Has to run in RAID, so the harddrive should be formatted by the NAS and lost all the data

Pros: Easy setup, good performance
Comment:
It is my dream NAS: 4 bays, run in RAID 0,1,5, and price below $200 (after $100 MIR), good performance. It can stream video to 3 different media players (2 PBO and 1 O!Play) via wired network without any problem. The machine slow down after running several days. I turn off all the plug in Application (BT, SQL, iTune server) and only turn on the Media Server, then the machine run much more stable and faster. The only problem of this NAS is only running in RAID mode. It will force to format the new harddrive and lost all the exist data. With 2 drives install, it only can run in RAID 0 or 1 mode. It mean either in mirror that only has 1 drive capacity, or in strip mode that has 2 drives capacity and faster performance, but double the fail rate. So even I have a second drive, I still not put it in. I prefer the second drive append to the end of the first drive and convert to RAID 5 when I install the third drive. I will wait to buy the third 2T drive when the price back to $70 before I plug in all 3 drives and run in RAID 5.

Cons: cannot be connected directly to PC, All features have limited functionality, poor documentation

Pros: holds 4 HDD on a NAS
Comment:
For a month the NAS has lived up to expectations in storing my files and decent transfer rate on the network as I have upgraded to a GIGABIT network, all wired. This is for everyone to keep in mind: -must have a fast transfer rate from Javelin to PC or device because Javelin only works on the network. Therefore a wireless network can take a toll if you are transfering large files.-files which are used can be locked and at times I rebooted to unlock these files so I can delete  them.-I have rebooted 4 times during a month. Once was because the Javelin fully stopped responding on the network and from the dashboard.-Javelin built in tools have limited functionality.-Apple app works only OK at best, at times the app does not find the Javelin and stops working.
