I rebuilt my old XP machine with a new Motherboard and AMD Phenom processor. When I decided to also put on Windows 7 at the same time I decided to get a new hard drive. I was using a WD Raptor 10,000 rpm drive and I did not want to loose the content with a fresh install, not an upgrade, of XP. I shopped around for a middle of the road priced SSD and settled on this drive. Installation was easy except I needed another SATA power plug. I ended up with a new powersupply in my old case. It was installed just as a single disk with no RAID. Windows 7 saw the drive just like a physical hard drive and it installed with ZERO issues. Speed? It is fast. On my machine it takes about 12 seconds to boot Windows 7 to get to the login prompt after the BIOS self test. Launching just about any program is very very fast generallunder 1 second. Some smaller ones are nearly instant. I am very satisfied. I am now looking at replacing my MacBook disk with a Solid State Disk.

I ordered the convoy inclosure so I will have a way to mount it inside the case, but it comes with a plate to attatch it, so I didn't need the inclosure, unless you are going to mount 2 of these then it is the way to go.

I got this hard drive and installed windows XP Pro on it, and I've got a 500gig drive to store my music and games. It's a rock solid drive, the desktop loads quickly, computer start up is fast - I've had this drive for about 8 months now and I'm really impressed.

I put this drive into a new PC (using an AMD Phenom CPU with three cores) built to function as a terminal server under Windows 2000 Server (I have my reasons for sticking with an old O/S). Installation went just as if the drive was a standard type. Thus far, I have found it to be faster than expected and is still running reliably after about 3 months. If it continues to do so over time, then the higher initial expense will be justified.

Out of all my online purchases I hate to say I got a faulty part. Support was great at Patriot, answered my email in less than a day and said I most likely had a malfunctioning drive and recommended I return it. I did and no questions asked my money was refunded. I was highly impressed with the support also. I gave a 5 on performance because when it was working it was very fast!

We bought this 64gb as a test drive and it is working great. The only thing we noticed is that when loading software or installing an application, the drive is a bit slower than when just using the laptop normally. Other than that, the drive is very very fast and responsive. It is quiet and boot time has improved and cut by 50%. We can open photoshop7 in about 10 to 15 seconds. We installed this on a Lenovo r400 and this has exceeded the 7200rpm drive that came with this laptop easily. Our base image with data is about 45gb and this has not affected the performance at all. The slowest part of this drive is not the drive but accessing our network. All apps that run locally are very fast as stated above. Great performance boost for the money if you don't need a huge drive. And, best of all, no moving parts so you can walk around with this running without any performance hit. Lenovo has their traditional drive software that usually stops the drive when it senses movement. Not needed! A+

I heard that windows 7 has accelerators built in to support SSD drives So i wanted to test this out. Well it's all true. Windows 7 is almost instant with this drive. my boot time went from 37 secs on a 10,000rpm Raptor to 12 flat on this SSD. installed CS4 and every program loads in 2 seconds. Power consumption is decreased by 57%!!!Well worth the purchase and i will be buying more and putting these into RAID. Highly Recommend

my first Solid state and I think i like it. dropped it in my laptop and boot speed went from 50 seconds to 29 seconds with vista 64. perfect OS drive. I will be replacing my 10,000rpm raptor desktop harddrive with another one of these. I paid more for that raptor and the SSD destroys it. nice work patriot.

Installed Patriot 64Gb drive just as easily as any other drive. It's small and light. Win XP Pro 64-bit found it with no problems and formatted just fine. Sometimes it seemed slow, but I think it was just the the DVD-ROM running a defult speed that slowed things down. Programs open noticeably faster. So far so good. This drive will be put to the test. It needs to open 300Mb TIFF files. Other PC just couldn't do the job.

I bought one of these a few months back. Installation was a breeze (it's just a harddrive after all, no drivers needed). I added it as a secondary disk just for gaming, as I am well aware that most consumer SSDs still have issues with write performance. For the purpose I bought it, it works absolutely great and leaves every conventional HD in the dust. Load times went WAY down, levels load in seconds. No stutter either.

Cons: - died month later- small capacity- rebate still has not come in yet

Pros: - fast boot and load times- reasonable price
Comment:
When it was working, it was a pretty good drive. Not the fastest (you would need to go to Intel for that), but was descent for its price. Load times were noticeably faster (in some cases 3x speedup). But died way too quickly - can't write to it after less than a month eventhough it was used as a normal laptop hdd, not a scratch disk or anything - should have seen the warning signs earler: file system silently corrupted resulting in startup issue.

Cons: expensive and low capacity

Pros: light weight, and quiet. should be much more reliable than hdd

I bought one of these a couple weeks ago. Started off well and worked right out of the box. I have 500g x2 running in raid 0 and decided to throw the SSD on it's own partition so I could install an OS on it by itself and get some speed out of it... and that's about where it failed. I did a quick format and proceeded to make it a separate partition. Unfortunately the install had an error during the install due to the SSD having bad sectors inside. Then my system wouldn't boot past the Windows screen without hanging if the SSD was plugged up. There was no way to recover it. I did some memory test using linux based software and the drive was filled with bad sectors that could not be repaired. There was no way to format it... period. Neither Windows Vista Ultimate 64 or Windows 7 32 could boot if the drive was installed... so no access to the file system. Linux Ubuntu couldn't format it neither and if you use the Live disk you can't access it. Fluke drive? I don't know...

I have the OCZ Core drive before, and the experience was so bad i had to return it from constant freezing, and got charged 10% re-stocking fee when i did. So i ended up swapping those out for the Patriot Warp drives, it was night and day difference. Drive works much faster, less latency, no freez up like the OCZ drive was. Although the advertised speed is a bit over rated, as i am getting about 150mb/s read in some benchmark, but feels much faster when read large single files. Bottom line, if you are in the market for SSD, get this instead. Definitly the best drive available that's not some relabeled crap with over rated marketing BS.
