I bought this tester because I was tired to use a paper clipper to check if a power supply would boot or not.

Cons: Can't show you variation in voltage.

Pros: Handy and easy to use.

This is a handy little device to have for testing PSUs, drive enclosure power supplies. However the design does have limitations that limit the tester for use only as quick "first aid" type of testing.First off it can't tell you how much of a variation in voltage the power supply is outputting (nor does the manufacturer give you any data as to under what parameters the LEDs will light up). Also, it doesn't test PSUs under load. So depending on what's wrong with a power supply, it may show a false negative. However despite it's drawback it's definitely a handy little tool to have in the tool box. It's also much easier than rigging up a multimeter to test a power supply. This review was modfied by poster @ 11-01-06 09:16 AM

i bought this product cause it seems i am very quick to blame the power supply any time a computer stops working. This happened to me recently when my friend's computer wasn't booting. i narrowed down the culprit to either the power supply or the motherboard. So i picked up this amazing gadget cause it's so much more convenient that pulling another power supply out of another computer. if you are like me and all your friends call you any time there is something wrong with their computer, then this thing is a must. it will save so much time and hastle.

Cons: -doesn't measure voltages

Pros: -tests 20 & 24 pin, 4pin, 6pin, floppy,SATA and molex connectors
Comment:
This is a great little tool for a quick and easy test to see if the power supply is working or not. Sometimes that's not so easily determined if the computer has no power. If the motherboard is faulty, it looks like a dead power supply.

Bought this to test my old generic atx psu. Found the +5V is not working. I highly recommend this to anyone if you want to test your psu for problems and do not have a local computer store close to you.
