The SSD market has transformed rapidly in the last 2 years. Much more competition and massive drop  in prices. Intel, Samsung and Crucial were on my shortlist for 200+ GB drives but I decided to pull the trigger on the M5S. Firstly, I have been impressed with Plextor's reputation following the M3 series and their relatively low failure rates. Second, I've personally had good experiences with Marvell controllers while having bad ones with Sandforce and none with Indilinx. Third, the NCIX sale put the M5S at a very competitive range in my short list so I was set on getting the M5S.Before making my decision, there was a lot of talk about waiting for the M5P. One of the selling features being the extended warranty of 5 years as opposed to M5S's 3 years (which translates into better quality and reliability). This may be true, but 3 years is plenty time for me start getting me thinking about an upgrade anyway. I predict that in 3 years, we'll have much higher capacity drives with higher performance at lower price points. The 3-year/5-year selling feature was not enticing enough for me. Also the M5P supposedly will perform much better than the M5S. I doubt that there will be very much noticeable real-world improvement as I'm already getting 500 MB/s read , 400 MB/s write with the M5S. Anything significantly higher will be bottle necked by the SATA 6.0 Gbps interface and an average user will probably not notice any real difference.I predict that the M5P will have a high premium for being branded as a "Pro" series. I personally don't think it will be worth it and hence I am happy with my decision to go with the M5S.
