Plays Blu-Rays at stock settings, and can even game if want be (Trackmania Nations in particular). Ram does not make contact with the heat sink at all. Just messing about, I added some thermal pads to the ram underneath the heat sink, as well as some ram sinks to the back of the card and overclocked it to 830mhz core, and 500mhz ram. Overall performance jumped nearly 25%!All in excellent enjoyable even though, it does every thing asked of it on stock settings as well.

Mid-end memory for gaming. HDMI, VGA, and DVI ports. Loads fast with games. No fan, can add a single simply. Gets the job accomplished and operates nicely. Not a best end card but will operate with nearly all games around middle graphics.

Plays blu-rays over HDMI like a champ. No fan, so very. Does stream Dolby Digital five.1 or DTS more than HDMI. Also, if you set up the sound settings in Windows 7, streams up to 7.1 sound in PCM format more than the HDMI. Plays a couple year old games fine at decrease resolutions, such as Morrowind, BioShock or Mass Impact (the latter is a bit jerky, but playable). Application permits overclocking to improve functionality, just monitor the temp. Software sets up overclocking automatically to enable to from damaging card. As low cost as this card is, what do you have to drop! From what I've study, the 4000 series cards are streaming a compressed sound more than the HDMI, not the newer uncompressed sounds. Seems type of odd, but that what they say at AVS forums. Need to get a newer 5000 series card to stream uncompressed sound as PCM. My receiver isn't new so I can't inform if it streams Correct Dolby, but according to AVS it doesn't. Would have gotten a 5000 series if I had recognized I would only get compressed sound, but it was a fantastic buy.

I am lastly prepared to create a critique on this now that my rebate has arrived. This is my first ATI card. I've installed a handful of, but for individual use, I've usually stuck with Nvidia. I have to say, I'm rather pleased so far. Video runs smoothly. I'm not a large gamer. I've been rather behind on games, so I'm playing the ones that I've missed when I have time. I have tried a handful of new games, like Borderlands, and have had no challenges. For those of you worried that Mass Impact 2 won't run with this card, it does and rather nicely. I didn't max the settings as the game looks attractive already on the default.I'm at present employing a DVI monitor, but I'm anxious to attempt the HDMI connection with this card. As other individuals have mentioned, the heat sink is Huge. However, that's what you get if you want a fanless gfx card. My rig is cool and quiet, so it's a fair trade off and not worth removing an egg. -Rebate arrived on 3ǟቦ, roughly 3 months immediately after I bought the card. Didn't get a confirmation e-mail or something from MSI, like I'm am accustomed to from other firms. I want MSI would adjust this. But for these who had been worried about not getting it, it will arrive.-I was a small concerned when the card arrived, as the address read 'RMA Warehouse', along with a white sticker taped to the box with an RMA # and some vendor information (like you'd generally submit for an RMA) printed on it. I spoke to a representative (or rather, typed to) to make certain it was new and have on record that it was (gotta have proof!). Why Newegg does this is beyond me, but I wish it'd cease.

Fanless, no noise, ideal for a Media Computer or exactly where sound is a concern. It was straightforward to install and configure. Drivers from the CD installed without a dilemma and the MSI web site had other drivers obtainable if you wanted to update. When installed inside a Computer that is designed for silent use, it was what the medical doctor ordered. My Pc was designed with silent cooling and airflow to make certain that this card wouldn't overheat.I am in a position to play MP3's, stream video and watch DVD's at 1080p devoid of this video card getting problems. It also doesn't overheat. I was in a position to finally get rid of another fan in my personal computer get obtaining this card. This is my second MSI video card and I am pleased with thier top quality (for the value). The catayslt system is not my favorite. But that isn't MSI's fault, it's a Radeon system that come with ATI chipsets. No cons with this MSI video card. This card isn't made for gaming. If sound from your Computer isn't an concern, I most likely would get a video card with a fan on it as to not have to design and style a Pc that would be adequately cool for a fanless design. But, if you're looking for absolute silence, this is the card for you. I have it connected to a 40" Samsung LCD and with DVI connection it appears spectacular. With the HDMI connection, it is unbelievable. You can't beat this card for the price tag, let alone rebate if one particular is offered.Just recall, if you are arranging on using a fanless video card, please do oneself a favor and make confident you address any airflow, dust and heat problems. Otherwise it is just going to shorten the life of all your components.

Card is operating effectively to run my 23" Acer and 17" Dell LCDs. No fan = absolutely silent. Potential to get warm. Stays in low 50s (Celsius) below moderate use for me. Nevertheless waiting on ฤ rebate immediately after 2 months. With the rebate this was a excellent deal, without it seems a bit costly.

Got the บ rebate and a free of charge HDMI cable. This point is practically free of charge. Cost-free of troubles as properly. None if you know how to work CCC. Plays NICELY for my 32" Proscan HDTV. HD viewing is comparable to my 4550 and 4670. Had to overscan to use the full width and height of screen. No need to have to overdrive for my use. It also works nicely for dual screen setup. Works effectively with Win7.The business's customer service deserves praise as well - had to fax an item for the rebate and they accepted it. Got my rebate yesterday which is significantly less than the promised time stated. Mathed this with Phenom II x 3 740 and 4G of 800 RAM.

Works fine in an older laptop. New pc(what I bought it for) won't even recognize the card. I use a gigabyte GA-H55M-S2V motherboard with a Intel i3 cpu. The MSI assistance mentioned to turn off the onboard video. Gigabyte said transform a video setting in the bios. I did and now it nevertheless does not recognize the card. I swapped it with an older Asus intense 550 and each cards worked. But I wanted the MSI card in the new personal computer due to the fact of the Hdmi port. I'm positive that MSI and Gigabyte will each and every say it is the other guys fault. So for now I will use a DVI to HDMI cord and a patch cord for sound.

Got this to add HDMI capability to my simple initial construct, centered on a 780g card(since discontinued, natch) from AsRock. Not the most up-to-date & greatest stuff, but dual show (CCC) and aud/vid more than HDMI perform in each XP and Ubuntu, following some minor tweaking here & there.Fanless was the other significant sell point for me. No further noise, temperatures nominal (to paraphrase some Enterprising engineer) Doesn't plow the back forty. I see it supports some overclocking, but I don't locate it necessary for my purposes. Not a gamer naturally.

Plug in the card and update the driver/software from net website. It works excellent on Dell GX280 (Windows XP) and Dell ST2210 LCD with 1920x1080 resolution. The integrated adapter enables it match the narrow box with sacrifice of VGA port. The HDMI cable included separately as a free of charge present is a plus! I also installed usb HDTV tuner and instantly I can watch HDTV from antenna whilst operating other plan/application at the exact same time. Really satisfy with the compatibility and performance. None

I have place this card 2 rigs now and plan on utilizing it far more for budget builds.it is not for challenging core gamers go for at least a 4670 for any tough core gaming but for older games its fine for a light gamer or for these facebook sort games

Just wanted to throw a stick to up for others. 1) it will consume 2 slots worth of space due to the heatsink, this really should be noted. 2) It doesn't come with the updated drivers or Hydravision Ɠ monitor manage computer software). The driver CD under "Website" does take you to the correct location though. 3) Do NOT set up the MSI tweaker app! I did this just to play about more than the weekend, BOY DID IT GET HOT! Passmark Tests showed much less than three% improvement with it, so don't bother unless you Truly want that final small bit. Also Avivio video decoder is also free of charge from AMD/ATI when you register, not the inexpensive version either... Good small plus. It's OK. Not like MPEG Streamclip but OK. Get the updated drivers, Avivio app, Hydravision. 1 Nice issue for IT pro's is the Driver Only MSI package... You know that was good of them... 1ቷ񳏊 most up-to-date driver update. Requires up two Slots due to heatsink size, this can be rectified by means of the use of a cooler with fan but would call for some custom function. I still give it 5 eggs, just watch, measure and take a look ahead of you order. I had to move 1 PCI card down a slot but other people may well not be as fortunate or capable. For dual DVI just grab am HDMI to DVI adapter (cheap) considering that DVI is HDMI with no the audio. Haven't tested Tri-Monitor capabilities but DVI and HDMI worked excellent... Played a Film over the HDMI and did some function in Office on the monitor. Pc CPU was pegged quite tough but it's an old Single core AMD so it was to be anticipated. Just a test rig... Audio output via HDMI was much better after driver upgrade, video was no distinct.

hdmi, fanless style for low noise the larger heat sink put on to take the place of the fan causes the card to block the slot straight under it. This is a good card for every single day use and for using in a htpc. I don't assume it would be the greatest option for hardcore gamers though.

Excellent cost. It's much superior than onboard GPUs, by far. Installed in just a couple minutes (not counting the ten minutes it takes to re-plug-in all the cables in the back of my box, of course, but that aspect must be rather clear). Dual screens work rather nicely with the DVI and D-sub connectors; I'm presently utilizing each outputs on a single screen with two inputs, and I'm incredibly satisfied. Works nicely for low-finish games, and it solved the problem I had with big video files just acting rather strange. It's not a top-of-the-line card. Don't expect it to run modern games at any sort of highish setting. The driver installer is somewhat annoying as properly. When I initially attempted to install it, it didn't perform because I didn't essentially plug it into the slot. I'm confident, even though, that this was due to the fact of my own stupidity. The PCIe x1 slot directly subsequent to it in all probability won't be getting utilized for something particularly massive. You may be capable to get a small wireless card in there or one thing of the like, but it would possibly have to be incredibly low profile.

Fantastic price tag, best htpc card, quiet, plays 1080p no difficulties...took the load of the processor. You have to use linux/win 7/vista to use hardware acceleration in XBMC...not the graphics chip fault. Just a pain due to the fact XP loads up quicker on older systems. Lets me watch 1080p on my htpc, before the films would skip because there was no hardware acceleration...cpu usage would be up about 80-90%...now cpu usage is down around four-five% and the vid card does all the really hard work.
