Although the 9800GT is similair in performance this card uses significantly less power and has less heat, and it also does not demand a 6pin energy cable. The positive aspects are great for these people looking to upgrade a slimline Pc from OEM's with low energy PSU's 鴺w-300w) and those with no the capacity to add a 6pin adapter. It's generally this or spending an added 130 dollars on a 5750 LP (or GTS 250 LP) and 300w TFX power supply. None provided the stipulations: 250w PSU, no more six pin cable with out the ability to even use one particular. With the ATI 6000 series of cards fundamentally just about the corner this is the very best you can muster for what it is but Caicos should start out shipping Q1 2001. I'm hoping for 5750 level efficiency without having the 6pin but it may possibly not come about.

None at the moment DOA Also, the manual (if you'd like to call it that) recommends that this card have at least a 400 watt energy provide. With the new 1, will see if if can indeed run on the 320 watt I have for the micro ATX case. Otherwise, have the new cheap case to toss it into. DOA's suck. Looks fairly cool.two Fans to preserve the temps down.Low profile. Didn't operate brand new out of the box.Although not a tall card, it's a very long card and the fans also take up an additional pci slot. I originally installed this card with a 300 watt power provide, and it didn't display something on the screen upon installation. So assuming it was an situation with my psu I upgraded to a 500 watt. Didn't repair the problem. When the card was installed it also made my cpu fan spin more rapidly than usual and triggered my dvd drive to freak out. Luckily I'm finding a refund, but I'm staying away from MSI from now on. Great price, great cooling unit and its low profile that fits wonderful into a dell 530s inspiron. none. I went from a ati 4650 to this and its a massive upgrade, I can visibly see the difference. I used to be in a position to play at med settings and now I'm playing them at higher settings. Frame prices are fantastic and the temp doesn't get to higher. With full load, I get about 60 fps in L4D2 and temp stays about 70 C.

The box looks outstanding Initial reaction, it won't fit the case.Second reaction, I believed it was DOA but soon after far more troubleshooting it's just trash. Issue 1: it takes up three PCI slots -- 1 for the card, 1 for the fans, and 1 more to leave space so the fan intake isn't covered upSituation 2: the computer system wouldn't POST with any monitor connected to this graphics card - no beep, no graphics, absolutely nothing. Attempted both OEM 300 watt and immediately after-industry 450 watt power supply. Right after troubleshooting it, I identified if the monitor was unplugged it would POST, beep, and then when I saw it start off reading the tough-drive, I could plug in the monitor and it would perform. But it's useless if I have to unplug the monitor every time I shut down or reboot.I got a nVidia GeForce GT240 as an alternative and it worked out of the box. This is the initially and final ATI graphics card I will ever purchase.P.S. if I could rate this Ŕ eggs", I would. None. I had the preceding overview of a DOA. I am now on my third DOA. Yes. Third. Not getting a replacement, finding a refund. Mebbe I'll attempt a Sapphire given that my needs have changed. (No longer want a half height card.) A month of RMA's and waiting for shipping (which adds up right after two RMA's), I kinda wanna go out and kick the neighbor's dog. I won't even though, I promise.I will not prevent MSI items, due to the fact 98% of the time they are excellent products, but this... meh. This card provides fantastic performance for the price tag. For gaming, I can push left 4 dead above 60 FPS on a 720p Tv on high settings. Dirt two runs above 40 FPS too. Wonderful performance, compact form factor. All great The fan had a weird issue, the speed was always at 100% even with fan manage activated. The noise was also loud for my taste. So I throttled down the fan by connecting it with constant 7V molex input so now the noise is low and temperatures are OK.

Low profileRuns cool and reasonably quiet.Makes use of DXVA perfectly with all my files No HDMI port I use this card in a HTPC, so I can't comment on how games run, but my videos plays far more consistently working with XBMC. The one particular egg off is for a lack of an HDMI port (which I knew), makes this card a small less home theater friendly, though a appropriate cable or adapter functions with no difficulties.

Upgraded from a 9600gt and my encounter score went from 6.8 to 7.! This card runs cool and does not will need the added power cable. You can not hear the fans when they are going. This card helped my slim Computer run cooler and nevertheless play games. Needs 2 slots to accommodate the fans. Newegg shipping utilised to be practically subsequent day for every thing (to San Diego), but they are outsourcing to DHL and other people now so often it takes up to a week for shipping. This applied to be a big draw for me. I may possibly appear elsewhere that is tax free if I'm going to wait...

Fastest low profile ATI card offered no hdmi, no displayport to hdmi adapter included although mentioned. No location to get the displayport to HDMI adapter. Purchased the 1 a passive adapter and that doesn't work. Purchased it so I could bitstream HD audio but it looks like this item won't permit me to do it. Named tech support, they couldn't support, and transferred me to customer service. I left a message and they under no circumstances referred to as back. Called back once more and no support. Rapid, low-profile. Tried five display port to HDMI adapters (passive ) and none worked. DVI output is fine but the purpose I got this card in the 1st spot was for a HTPC setup and not becoming in a position to stream video/audio in one cable is a huge minus. Th eonly reason I havent returned it is simply because I already send in my rebate types along with the UPC cord. Wonderful card for the cash. Got a deal on an open box. Necessary a low profile card for a decent price. Stays incredibly cool and the fan is not very loud. Plays Stracraft II on high with a phenom x3 three.0ghz. Get about 55-60fps, does ultra at a small slower but nonetheless playable. Overclocks decent too. Wish a 1gb version was supplied, 512 is a small low for todays standards but at least I only game at 1440x900. Also wish it had HDMI instead of display port but thats what adapters are for. Picked up 1 of these poor boys for an upgrade from my low profile 4650 ddr2. Massive raise in performance, couldnt be happier. Wanted the low 5750 but cost and power usage decided to go with this and overall I am incredibly pleased. Not certain why some people are having issues with card.

installed uncomplicated adequate, doesn't pull too much power, Runs CivV in DirectX11 with settings on med/high(haven't completely tested it with all max settings). card does NOT demand extra energy connection and is the ideal fit for low profile circumstances / weaker power supply! none...except I didn't get it from Newegg since it hadn't arrived here but. Bought it for ๩ from a third party Am@z0n e-tailer. It's running on a 275 watt power supply without a hiccup. drastically improved Windows Experience Index and overall gaming on what was a 'home theater' machine. If you require a low profile card...this is it!

I have yet to be able to discover a less expensive card for this quantity of value. This card can play any games or applications i put up to it. on at least 25 5 fps (but that was testing on a game which has really poor coding plus at maxed settings with 4x anti aliasing.) (crysis was that game!) absolutely nothing so far. Awesome CARD
