Functions.PCI Express.Comes with a low profile backplate. Not as quickly as my aging (and now dead) Higher Point 1520 PCI controller. Not automatically recognized by Win7. So I had an ancient HighPoint 1520 PCI controller. Ran wonderful for performing my RAID1 setup. Absolutely nothing fancy. Averaged about 63Mb/s on it.Final week the 1520 died. So I purchased this tiny guy as a speedy replacement. Rebuilt the array and did some benches. Looks like I'm about 13Mb/s slower with the RC211.

Low price tag, dependable, raid support. Even though this controller supports raid 5, 1 need to use a port multiplier to connect much more than two sata drives to it. Port multipliers expense far more than this card. I have applied this card for a Raid (striped) program drive, for more than a year now. No difficulties.

Installs swiftly, works great! I didn't require it for the RAID capabilities, I only needed a different SATA controller to connect yet another drive. No issues with the hardware. I ordered this card with the incorporated absolutely free "EggSaver" shipping on 1ǝቧ. I finally received it currently, 1ተቧ. Absolutely free EggSaver = Anytime they get about to it. I typically like NewEgg, but if I order from them again, I'll spend the additional $$ to get it in a reasonable amount of time.

Nothing, worst card I've ever purchased. I'm an IT Skilled with nearly 20 years experience. This card dropped the mirror 3 times in a week. Corrupted my information twice, thankfully I had Acronis, and lastly just sent my pc into a reboot loop. Horrible item, I will in no way obtain an additional Rosewill item again. These cards are even supported by Rosewill. They OEM the chipsets, drivers on their web-site are outdated. When you contact them the tell you that they will send you the hyperlink to the chip manufacture to get supported drivers and software program, but this chipset hasn't been supported by the manufacture for nearly a year. You are hosed if you are going to run Windows 7. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Buyer,Thank you incredibly much for purchase the RK-577. The dilemma may well be due to a defective unit. Please kindly contact Rosewill support group either by way of telephone at 800-575-9885 or through e-mail at rma@rosewill.com so we could help you with a replacement. We are eager to assist you in any doable way. We look forward to hearing from you quickly. Thanks,Rosewill Client Care

Becoming capable to use 1 of my 1x PCI-Express slot is incredibly handy, given that I don't have a spare PCI slot.I've been using this card in my desktop, which runs OpenSolaris, and the help has been fantastic. After plugging in the card and attaching two drives, I ran 'format' and saw the two new drives. I then added them as a mirrored set to an current ZFS pool, and haven't had any issues. I would truly like a card at his value point to manage 4 SATA connections, but I guess I'll just have to wait a even though for that.

Simple to install and use. Steady. Operating technique Windows 7 Release Candidate 32 Bit. The operating program located drivers for this card. three weeks of frequent use and no difficulties so far. None, but I want I had purchased 2 of these cards as an alternative of only 1. This card was applied with an ASUS P5GC-MX񳄥 socket 775 motherboard with a Pentium E2160 dual core processor, stable for over a year at 2.16GB. This motherboard only had 2 SATA 3.0GB SATA ports which had been used for a DVD drive and a method drive. I had a pair of Maxtor 300GB Sata 1.5GB drives I wanted to add to run games with. Immediately after three weeks use, I have had no problems. RAID , stripped.

My mobo doesn't support RAID, so I just ordered this card, and then nearly had a stroke when I read a couple of critiques that it could not be employed to boot the technique. I went to the rosewill web page, and discovered the manual, which clearly explains how to use this card with a FRESH Set up of the OS. The English is not good in that manual, but it appears that this card will suit my wants. I will edit this "review" after getting the card, and seeing if it actually performs. Sure hope there will be NONE! Want ME LUCK!

Mirror capabilites and SATA2 drive speeds Mirror broke twice, lost faith in a card that was beneath ฮ. Even if I could get a return, I wouldn't trust it...sorry guys. Working with in a HP pc that had a PCI express slot 1, and believed I woudl get substantial speed boost. I didn't and they I setup a mirror RAID that failed twice. Immediately after that I just put it back in the box...not hunting forward to attempting to return this or experiment anymore.

Low-cost and performs well. Employing HDTune I confirmed that this controller (when working with RAID 1) had identical functionality as my ICH10 in AHCI mode below Vista Enterprise x64 SP1. I will definitely use this card again for future applications that demand fakeRAID that functions. The LED header faces down so when you plug in your LED it hits the device in the slot straight under it.B/c the card is so small I had to route my HDD LED cable though the blank three.five" floppy bay on my case because it would attain otherwise. Not seriously a style flaw of this device, but most likely anything other folks will fight as well (I have a mid-tower ATX case, so this may possibly be a concern if you have a full tower).Supports NCQ and SATA II throughput, but my SATA II Seagate drives show up as SATA 150 devices. It seems their calling this a "SATA II" controller is a bit of a misnomer. Overall performance appears to be fine although, so I'm not actually concerned with this. I bought this b/c I didn't spend attention to the fact that my ASRock P43Twins-1600 didn't have the ICH10R south bridge with RAID support when I ordered it. For firmware RAID this performs incredibly properly and has fantastic documentation (the English is a little rough, but still understandable). Driver assistance appears to be pretty very good as well.

Worked as described. SATA controller on a Gigabyte MoBo failed. Plugged it in, recognized, installed. Plugged in challenging and DVD drives and it all worked. Let me continue to use this MoBo. Metal bracket too lengthy so card wouldn't fit in ATX case. Reduce off 8mm with shears and it match. At least 1 other reviewer had this dilemma but other individuals do not, so this this might be a issue only on a "case-by-case" basis.

I purchased this card as a stand-in for a slow mobo RAID controller. Immediately after some analysis I found this vehicles has its own bios chip, creating it a shinch for RAID 1 with the 2 WD Caviar black 1T drives I have. I had none of the problems other reviewers had immediately after flashing new bios on the adapter and loading the newest drivers from the Silicon Image web site. It seems 1 reviewer applied the Windows RAID utility with this adapter for a software raid, obviously not understanding what he was doing. The only con was when getting the new bios flash and drivers they had been not packaged with each other on the website and it took a little hinting. When this was carried out it was 1, two, three. I will say you need to use matched HDDs from WD or whoever. The controller will function for two unmatched drives of the very same model and size. Just make positive they are empty and your OS is on a 3rd drive. I employed Norton Ghost 15. and in an hour I was RAIDed. I also had to restart the program with only the RAID array plugged in with the 3rd HDD unplugged. This created the RAID array drive C. You can not do that in bios, just to maintain in thoughts. If you know what you are carrying out or can ask for aid this is a fantastic item. But, RAIDing isn’t a noobie upgrade either. Right after you go even though almost everything it performs great. Just bear in mind its only a two SATA RAID card so you require one more SATA port on your mobo to “Ghost” the method. Otherwise you need to do this with a clean set up. My rig with a Atholon 4000+ 64x (single core clocked @ 2686MhZ), 6100-M9 mobo, four gigs Buffalow PC3000 Matched memory, GeForce 9500gt 512, Soundblaster Audigy and two WD Caviar Blacks ƑT) look to love this setup. I an operating the RAID 1 configuration as im trying to avoid a drive failure and details loss. This is a wonderful fix for this problem. I have my original HDD unplugged and sitting as a 3rd standby. This is a excellent mod for the paranoid.

Installed relatively effortlessly, worked for a couple of days. My program became unstable, Windows would occasionally freeze on the 'windows starting screen, the device would disappear from "Computer" list and from the disc managment screens, I had to boot from my windows 7 CD to repair somw windows startup files after. All in all significantly much more danger than it was worth.

PCI-e, hardware RAID0 or RAID1. Modest (low-profile) and even comes with a low-profile bracket. Performs. Can deal with Port Multipliers. Only two ports. No hardware RAID5. Card BIOS can slow up POST instances (by like 3 seconds even though). Making use of this in my residence server for RAID1 in Win2008 R2 SP1 (have a bunch of other drives working with all but a single port at the time). Functions great with excellent speeds ࿦-80MB/s). Surely get the drivers and firmware from SiliconImage's site.

Go directly to Silicon Image website and download the firmware and drivers for the SiI 3132. Worked flawlessly and now I assume may well be a bit more steady to use. I am not utilizing a RAID configuration but it is functioning. Not confident why Rosewill doesn't have the firmware updates on their web-site. Rosewill doesn't seem to have the newest drivers or firmware on their website. Took this back out of the clost to attempt once more immediately after obtaining newer firmware and drivers. Will see how extended it lasts.

Performs in Windows 7 64 bit with Vista drivers, uncomplicated set up, opens SATA back up for the no longer supported SLI chipset that Asus and numerous other mbd manufactures kicked to the curb a when back.Low cost! No Official Win7 drivers but, but that's minor. Only 2 SATA connectors but then once more it was affordable. This is best for a comp that is still new but not new sufficient. Came with newest RAID BIOS from Silicon Image. (not custom rosewill BIOS or something)Performs with Hackintosh for booting if you have a working set up on an additional drive. Just set up the driver from SI on the other drive, then set up EFI on the RAID volume and clone the OS to the RAID volume. None so far It is supported natively with out needing to add a driver by OS X if you flash it to the BASE BIOS, but then you drop RAID help. All of this is almost certainly the exact same for a true Intel Mac, devoid of the EFI patching but haven't tried it.

I do alot of operate establishing server systems and very typically men and women dont have alot of funds for a complete blown server. I had a older motherboard with a couple of pci express slots. The motherboard doesn't have alot of sata conectors on it and im employing unix to run the hardware. Unix seems to manage the card devoid of issues, just put it in and away i went. The card is being used in a computer software raid (ZFS) pool. I jumpered the bios off on the card and unix seems to run fine with it. Don't really care for the user interface constructed into the card's bios. But it must work. I also tested this making use of Freenas and FreeBSD 7. Appears to handle hours of data processing without having a problem. (Doing information transfers in and out of the server via two 1000Mbps lacp network cards at about 120MBps on the challenging drives.

The price tag is really fantastic. I am working with this as a straightforward SATA two controller for a single disk. As soon as up and operating, it functions fine. I can't comment on it's RAID qualities as I have not utilized them. Terrible directions. They appear to be translated from a foreign language. Tech assistance was very slow to return my contact. If the directions had been flawless, I would have rated it a four or five. As it was, I lastly applied my intuition and ignored the manual. It now operates fine.

Very straightforward installation. Simply set up the drivers, plug in, and that was it. After that was performed I created a RAID array out of two 1TB drives and it worked perfectly. I will note nevertheless that it did not show up when I installed Windows, this was not a difficulty for me mainly because I was not installing the drive on the array anyways. RAID array didn't show up in the course of Windows 7 set up.

The card appears to perform perfectly. The guidelines do not even hint at what the BIOS jumper is for. Apparently, it enables/disables the automatic download of a BIOS driver from the card to the mobo BIOS through POST. The jumper have to remain in the enabled (factory) position. My Biostar NF4U AM2G mobo w- nForce4 chipset was incredibly problematic. Apparently, amongst other problems, it required to be "trained" to recognize the SATA adapter's drives. I am using the adapter in non-RAID mode just to add a 5th and 6th SATA drive. The BIOS always located the Rosewill card (Silicon Image SiL 3132 chip) just fine. However, XP did not detect the new drive. The mobo's nVidia RAID device had to be enabled in the BIOS, although no kind of RAID is becoming utilized (go figure...) Of course, XP complained that it necessary a driver for the new found hardware. I installed that from the mobo driver CD. As soon as that was done the new SATA drive showed up in XP. Upon reboot, the method hung at loading XP.I then took off the SATA data cable but left the card installed - XP the booted fine. The Pc was shut down and the SATA cable was reattached and the Computer restarted. Voila ! The BIOS POSTED, XP began and the new drive appeared when once more. The entire process appears like voodoo magic...
