It works completely with my older VAIO laptop with Win XP SP2 connected to my Radio Shack ෂ-812 digital multimeter. The multimeter came with a RS program known as "Meter View" to greater read/monitor/save electrical readings. The system at 1st didn't recognize the adapter connection to the USB port. I had to go into Computer system Management and transform the properties of the Port to COM1 (was COM8). Following that, it worked Fantastic!!! NONE The DB-9 connector is kind of bulky for my multimeter. I had to shave off some plastic of the mm to firmly attach it to the DB-9 port. Also, my VAIO couldn't study the itty bitty drivers CD that came with the adaptor. I had to place it in my Desktop Computer, save it to USB and load onto the VAIO... but that's just my aging VAIO getting picky. :-)

I've applied this for robotics, and so far it works Very properly, and its durable (yanked it a few occasions by accident with my foot). The drivers have been extremely easy to set up, and so far there have been no compatability issues. I use WinXP Pro SP2. The short USB cable might be a hassle for some. Even so, I wanted to keep it as brief as feasible. For the price, I say its a good deal. I suppose that for some persons who aren't personal computer savvy (I'm a geek and proud), it may be a hassle to transform ports on it if you don't know exactly where to look. Would be nice if they would provide some sort of utility for them. Or perhaps some sort of manual? Then once more, I doubt that your typical internet kiddie would have any use for 1 of these....

Works fine with Windows Vista Residence Premium on a Dell Inspiron 1525. Vista automatically found the driver necessary and it operates completely fine with our serial-only RFID method interfaces. Just ordered three a lot more to replace our old PCMCIA adapters. None From my point of view all you're losing is fancy packaging and printed instructions. Comes in a static poly bag with mini CD. If you know what you're carrying out and like saving dollars, this is the one particular for you.

Lights up with XP, but Vista 64 doesnt like it. With XP, I loaded the advisable driver and off it went. Even though there is a driver for Vista 64, there seems to be a model version requirement (different chip) which is not determinable from packaging...I certainly didnt get the 1 I required. Doesnt work on Vista 64 bit, at least the version I was shipped. I will need this to operate my faxmodem since I have no mobo com port. I use a caller ID modem with "phonetray cost-free" to zap undesirable phone calls. Dissappointing that I cant make it operate on the one particular machine that I have powered 24x7.

Worked right out of the box; all the attributes offered for an average workplace Computer. I've just wanted to try if the moderboard performs at all, so I replaced the old mobo (socket 754, Athlon64 񩰰) with this one particular and began Vista Ultimate 64bit (without any reinstallation), the rest of the hardware had been from the previuos Computer...no challenges at all! If you want to reuse an older 939 AMD processor, it is a very excellent buy.I'm reusing an Athlon64 񩵜, two.2GHz with 2Gig of DDR400.

Performs soon after a minor driver installation hiccup (read on)... This is a basic item that has handful of possibilities for difficulties, but I did expertise one...Attached the device to a Windows Vista 32-bit method and pointed the device setup wizard to the CD, but it didn't discover the driver on it. Inspection of the files on the CD (which was labeled just "USB driver") indicates that the drivers are for yet another device (USB-to-LPT/parallel). I guess I got the wrong CD!Couldn't locate the drivers on the Rosewill web site, but Vista luckily recommended exactly where I could uncover the driver (served by Prolific, the actual manufacturer of the device), which I downloaded and installed; and it worked. I've bought possibly a dozen or so several Rosewill factors. When it comes to the "essentials"; stuff that's easy to do (and hard to do incorrect), like DVI or HDMI cables, I'll readily by Rosewill. After this and an problem with a Rosewill SATA-to-USB/eSATA dock, it seems to me that with Rosewill you're receiving a cheap, most likely re-branded element that is a fantastic worth if it works, but also probably to be an issue one particular way or another.

None (can't test due to the fact I have XP) The technical specs says OS ... Xp, Vista support. But beneath Functions it says only Vista is supported. Quite confusing and devastating for me. I have to order a new 1 asap (too low-cost to return and not worth it). Too negative as I like Rosewill stuff usually. Have admin eliminate all except Vista beneath specifications: OS Support

Worked good right out of the box for connecting a legacy Texas Digital AccuVIEW Order Confirmation Display to a method lacking a RS-232C controller. XP Pro SP2. Will be buying a different to hold as a spare. Cheapy feeling plastic employed for the serial port/controller housing. Not a major deal as I do not strategy to drive more than it with huge cars.

When installed, it worked perfectly. I was able to get it to download code quite swiftly onto IFI Robot Controller and study information from an IFI Operator Interface. I've utilized these USB to serial adapters in the previous and even though this on is half the price of most any other you'll locate, the high quality is just as fantastic if not greater. Also mine came with the cutest driver CD I've ever observed. It was a panda! As far as I can inform, there's definitely no way of telling which version of the two drivers (A or D) is needed for this adapter. My adapter works with the A version but your mileage might differ. Rosewill is becoming a fairly strong brand. It's only small things like it not becoming clear which driver to install and a web site that screams "Engrish" that keeps them from being one particular of my favorites.

I ended up acquiring a Dynex for twice the price and it worked appropriate out of the box with the incorporated drivers. I haven't had a lot luck with this brand. Short cable, far better than an adapter that plugs straight in and runs the risk of breaking off.As soon as installed, performs with just about everything (haven't identified any incompatibilities but.) Driver essential, but not available for download from the Rosewill web page. The integrated miniCD has drivers from 2007. The most recent driver (including Win7) for the RCW-617/PL2303 can be acquired from the Prolific site:http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/downloads.asp?ID៳

Bought these for a client of mine, they had a similar item set up currently that went dead. Mainly because of the use of an business typical chip on this model, no installation or configuration changes were necessary to the drivers beneath windows. Easy swap of the cables and they had been back in business. None

Worked best on XP sp2. I put the disc in the drive 1st, then Plugged it in...I didnt even notice it actually load. I just noticed, "USB Serial Controller Located". Then it worked. None actually, like previously stated, feels flemsy, but most electronic equipment you would not handle rough anyways. So it's not truly a con. Employing for nortel goods with no complications at all. The length is perfect as you know we have to use unique cables for Nortel stuff anyways and maintain those cables handy. It's great for my laptop so I can have extra battery life (extra battery can now keep on) and not lug around the docking station, given that my laptop does not have a serial connection :(
