Cons: Expensive

Pros: Solid metal casing; hinged front door (compared to the slide door on D-LINK DNS-323); metal brackets for the hard drives; ability to schedule on/off time on a daily basis; support UPS
Comment:
Bought this unit when it was on sale for $260, plus a $50 Netgear rebate, and free shipping with the NCIX.COM $10 Gift Card promotion - which made it that much more affordable!I also own a D-LINK DNS-323. This RND2000 is being used as a backup to the DNS-323. I love the feature on the RND2000 that I can schedule backup jobs to backup the DNS-323 content (either full or incremental) on a nightly basis, and the ability that I can schedule the on/off time so that the RND2000 will wake up at (for example) 1 a.m. and then shuts itself off at 6:30 a.m.If I didn't already own the DNS-323, I would buy two RND2000 for data backup and redundancy.

Very well constructed unit with a lot of useful features. I have mine set up with two 1TB drives in RAID 0. Unfortunately, its performance is very poor. Copying files to or from the unit is about five times slower than it would be if you were copying to another PC and this is after performance tuning.

I setup this device on July 17th, using two Western Digital 400 gig hard drives (that's on the compatibly list). Everything was OK until August 5th, when the device disappeared from my network. All troubleshooting steps failed. I've called Netgear tech support three times, and I was told each time a supervisor would call back. NO SUPERVISOR HAS CALLED BACK NETGEAR, WHY?

I've had the ReadyNAS for over a month now and am very happy with it. Popped two WD Caviar Greens in there (1TB each). I have it set up on my mac. Works great as a time capsule too! Purchase and delivery process was smooth. The product itself lived up to expectation. Mind you it did come with a loose power connector. Netgear know about this and customer support will send you a replacement immediately. (I called them Sunday. It came Tuesday!)

I've had this NAS for a couple of weeks and I have been extremely happy with it. I have a couple of WD 1TB Caviar Green drives. set-up was very intuitive and easy. Some neat add-ons that you can download and install from Netgear website (i.e. Remote). I do have the faulty power connection as well and will be contacting NetGear to get a new power supply.

Unit came with a bad connector causing crashes. Netgear sent a new power supply that solved the problem. Works well with 2 Hitachi drives off the box. Brother laser printer, Cavalry USB drive very easy to install. Happy customer so far.

So I purchased the product and it seemed to work excellent. After less than one week the Readynas froze and dropped off the network - so much for back-up. I then called customer support 1-800-Netgear, so after 45 minutes, without exaggerating, I am transferred to ''Bob'' whom had me reinstall the firmware. After one week the Readynas crashed again, so called customer support with the same run-around. Now after contacting customer support over six times they are unwilling to even exchange the Readynas. My last case number was 9087641.
