Cons: Not able to use some of the Netgear features available with newer models

Pros: Easy setup. Easy management
Comment:
Set this up with two 2tb WD red drives. Super easy to setup and manage for even the newest newbie. It is missing some of the Netgear features of newer models but for most it is certainly a good system with good speeds.

Cons: Sometimes doesn't like HDDs formatted from other machines

Pros: Small size, decent cooling, excellent price
Comment:
So far so good, only using this for storage and haven't tried any of the other features. It is a little finicky about HDDs so make sure to read the compatibility list and use new HDDs only.

Cons: confusing and very slow to setup....

Pros: FAST!!!! cool and quiet

tried to throw in my used 2TB drives from my DNS-323, it seemed to work, recognized everything etc.. but couldn't read or write... couldn't rebuild, or start fresh... or atleast I couldn't figure it out.. decided to delete  all my partitions through my desktop, meant opening my PC case etc.... anyways, then started RAIDar, took the whole day for it to completely set itself up, went through a few steps, even though it seemed to be finished, it really wasn't... pretty much 8hrs for 2x2TB drives to be properly installed. reads and writes are amazing for such a cheap NAS, 90MBs+ reads 50MBs+ writes. NETGEAR help may be free, but they are kind of useless.. just answer my question with more questions.... Good product, bad support... lol once you get her up and running tho, its amazing! its a great media server! but strangely when I read from it to my Windows8 PC as a network Drive, I get a security warning...

Cons: Its arm based so ive noticed that there is practically no add ons for this particular build, and the only ones ive found from readynasextras require paypal payment for freeware...only on the arm based system. What is with that?Cant seem to find any torrent client thats free so if this is what ur looking for then dodge this product. I was wanting it to replace pc for torrents and streaming them to my android tvbox to watch.

Pros: Much smaller than I thought it would be.Very good build material.Easy access to drives and usb.No problems finding it on my network (unlike some of the things ive read up online)
Comment:
Overall if this isnt on a really good sale like I got ($130) then dont bother and look for something with better add on support unless your stricly looking to just use as abackup system.

Cons: no dual lan for LAGGUSB 3.0 only on back (all 3 ports should be USB 3 not just 2)

Pros: Outstanding construction and build qualityNetwork protocolsMagnetic front door
Comment:
Love the build of this item Im so sick of plastic items on my desktop that cords and cables can drag about but this is solid and stays put. Very pleasing to the eye as the size is smaller then one would think being a all metal chassis. If you really look whats all put in to the units even at full retail they are priced very well over the more disk units that look to have a very sharp price curve over this unit. With the dawn of USB 3.0 and more and more HD traffic on are home networks I think it should have been all USB 3.0 as 2.0 is on its fade out and a dual Lan for link aggregation.

Cons: - No print server functionality (even though it was advertised as having it)

Pros: - Price (Boxing Day sale)- I always had good dealings with Netgear devices- Simple for NAS beginners but still packs a lot of features- USB 3.0 ports- Build is solid and feels very durable and the look is very pleasing as well
Comment:
Bought this during the boxing day sale and was not disappointed. The construction of the NAS is very clean and nice. Easy to use interface and plug and play for almost everything in it. I had to reseed the 2nd HDD and restart a number of times to finally get the system to build the RAID 1 array but after that everything else works flawlessly. Transfer speeds are very good through my Gigabit LAN. Added a USB3.0 HDD enclosure for added storage and the transfer speeds on that was also very good. Did not like how there was no printer support as advertised. Very good starter NAS for home use. Have not played with any apps so I cannot comment on how useful they are but being Version 2, the app selection is pretty limited at the moment.

Cons: Fairly Slow, low memory

Pros: Small, Quiet, Nice Interface, Ease of use
Comment:
I'm kinda torn on whether to give this a 3 or 4 start review, 3 being "Satisfactory", and 4 being "Very Good-Would Purchase Again". At its price point that I purchased at, its a pretty good NAS. In saying that, next time I will probably go for something with higher memory (512MB minimum) because I'm noticing things are fairly slow, but it may be my use of it.I'm running SabNZBD, Couch Potato and Sickbeard on this unit, which probably accounts for the slowness, as I'm sure this NAS was not designed to do. Due to me running this, even accessing the web interface for the NAS (or any of the above software packages) is very sluggish. Anyone not running those other services will probably not have this problem. As for transfer speeds, to my desktop running on a gigabit network, I noticed a huge speed increase by transferring files using FTP over mounting the shares via Windows drive mapping. This is not surprising as FTP has less overhead. So, if you want to pull a bunch of data at once, FTP is the way to go.I have paired this with 2 x 3TB Western Digital Red drives. Not much to really say about this as its only been a month.Stability wise, I've had to restart it a couple of times due to my NFS shares no longer being able to be accessed from my HTPC. Though, I've recently noticed I can go into the config screen in the web interface and stop/start NFS service there does the same.Speaking of the web interface, its very nice. Easy to navigate. Word of caution, deleting a share by the web interface will delete  all data in that "folder". I wasn't expecting that, but luckily it was when I first got the unit and was transferring stuff from my external drive. I wanted to rename  the share and thought that the share "pointed" to a directory on the NAS. So, I had to re-transfer everything.Overall, its a nice looking unit, its quiet, can barely hear it running. Easy to set up and use. My only real gripes are probably caused by me adding these extra services, but as a "NAS" it works great.

I bought this from NCIX on sale with 2 x 2GB HDD's and it's great. I just copied a 3.4GB file to the NAS in just under 90 seconds.
