Cons: Expensive for a N router and a 3 years old model

Pros: Very good performerProbably the best N router you can get and ever willAsus build qualitySupports DD-WRT, Tomato and Merlin's firmwareGigabit LAN all the wayLooks badass in its black suit
Comment:
For the past 4-5 years, I was running an Asus RT-N16 router. A very good performance, only working on 2.4Ghz band however. After all these good years, it was causing random reboots. Even changing some capacitors and the power brick didn't resolve the issue, so I moved to an N66U.The "Dark Knight" is an expensive N router. You could get a good/decent AC router for the same price. I didn't need AC and don't think I'll need it for the next couple of years. The RT-N66U being the best N router you can get according to many reviews, I decided to get it. I'm not upgrading that much. The RT-N16 was a Gigabit LAN and N router. However, the N66U adds 5Ghz band, which is nice for some of my devices. Wireless-N should be around for many years again. While the RT-N66U supports third party firmwares and I was using Tomato (Shibby, Victek) on my RT-N16, I decided to stick with Asus firmware for now. It is rock stable (no reboots unless I ask it to) and provides me with all the features that I need right now. I don't have any USB devices plugged into it as I own a Synology NAS. My printer is WIFI.To sum it up : It is the best N router you can get. If you're looking for that, then buy this one. Asus is one of the best, in my opinion, when it comes to routers. Their RT line is very well built and have nice third party firmware supports. Good job :)

Cons: during installation pc was not able to connect to the internet. I unplugged the ethernet connection to my pc and plug it back in and voila.

Pros: Quick set up.
Comment:
Bought this router last night for 150. 5Ghz is slow but 2.4 ghz is fast. Maybe I need a firmware update. Will play with it some more tonight and see what else it can do.

Cons: Cost

Pros: Good performance (wired and wifi)Easy to configure
Comment:
Quite frankly I have no complaints at all about this router, the only possible con is that it is relatively expensive, but I do not feel the price is unwarranted given the performance and ease of use.The web configuration is very easy to use, provided you have basic knowledge of what you wish to do. The hardware runs relatively cool - it feels warm but not concerning - and has had no problems in the 9 months I have been using it.I am currently using this with Sasktel Infinet in place of the Sasktel provided Actiontec V1000H gateway (Sasktel ONT -> Asus RT-N66U -> computer). I was able to set this up very easily through the web inteface: select  manual ISP config, VLAN Tag 1000, and I set my hostname to "V1000H-Router" and copied the MAC from the Actiontec. The router reconnected and everything went perfectly. Sasktel of course, won't give you directions on how to do this, as they would rather have you use their intentionally crippled hardware.Given enough bandwidth (I have 100/20Mbit), I have been able to stream HD video, play games, and run torrents (legal, of course) all at the same time without any noticeable performance impact between them.I have only used this in apartment settings, so I can't comment on WIFI capability in a larger house. I get full connectivity anywhere in the apartment.I have not used this for services like VOIP/TV.

Pros: Exceptionally great coverage throughout the entire house
Comment:
Bought this to replace a Dlink DIR615. What a difference! The best coverage area as I have the main router on top floor and still getting full bars in the basement (old house with pretty thick concrete layers). Extremely easy setup although it was kinda weird that I had to plug in input (Cat6 cable) from router (LAN output) to the Main "Input" plug rather than LAN 1 (router) to LAN (Asus) when I had the Asus router setup as Access Point. I tried the original way and it doesn't work at all (LAN to Asus LAN 1). Fast and wide coverage. Anyone living in a house that's looking for a great coverage area, this beast will definitely fulfill your needs!

Easily surpass the D-Link DGL-4500 I had for 4-5 years as it was beginning to choke. I get great range everywhere in my 850 sq ft appartment and the default firmware is top notch. Best router I've owned.

Cons: not as fast as I would like

Pros: Dual band, reasonable speeds, small, great range
Comment:
Overall, I'm underwhelmed by this router. The signal strength on the 5GHz bandwidth is low, limiting range. Boosting the power does not seem to help. It occasionally crashes, but that appears to be tomatoUSB bugs. There is a very small performance improvement over my RT-N16 for 2.4 GHz and file serving speed. At twice the price of an RT-N16 I expected more. I do get better through-put on the 5 GHz bandwidth due to less interference but still it is nothing to cheer about.I probably would have been better off with the WNDR3700 at half the price. Initially I gave this two stars, but the other day I was about a quarter of a mile away from home and my tablet connected to my tablet managed to connect to my internet. I live in a fairly populated area, so normally other signals should swamp me out at that range. So I simply can't complain about the range on this router. Cons: Table top is getting crowded.

Pros: Have excellent connection anywhere in house or my yard. Was very easy to setup. total time was under 30 minutes.
Comment:
I used the stand, to stand up unit to lessen the table top room. although it stands approx. 10 inches with the antennas and takes about 4inches by 8 inches of table top room. Now the wires all connect at the top of the unit. If you want to hide the wires it's not easy to hide. Set up was easy and now have unbelievable reception. I'm glad I gotten it to replace the Wi-Fi on my old ADSL modem. There is just too much 2.4 ghz interference an often had problems with reception loss then found then loss. This corrected the issue and extended the range greatly.

Cons: Pricey (But WORTH IT!)

Pros: Very easy to set up (did it on my iPad in less than 1 minute!)
Comment:
This is so amazing. I bought this to replace an older TP-Link 2.4 GHz N300 adapter, which started to disconnect, have lower signals, and reduced speed due to interference. The N66U is superior in every way. 1) Very easy set up: I just used my iPad to connect to the router and inputted all the security information. 1 minute, done. 2) Very comprehensive ADVANCED setup: There are so many nice options, including QoS and setting up your own network server. 3) Strong signals: full bars, every part of the house.4) Cool temperature: the nice expensive heatsinks really help lower the temperature. In summary, if you can afford to splurge $149.99, do it. Don't spend your money on AC draft 4.0 yet, which isn't as stable and has a much higher dollar premium. Get this, the N66U.

Cons: Constant disconnects over wired connections. Large (~10 second) lag spikes over wifi, causing disconnections from games.

Pros: Great range/speeds, when it's working.
Comment:
I bought this router because of the raving reviews. Maybe I have a dud, but this device has given me unsatisfactory performance, given the price. I'd be tolerant of these flaws for a $20-$50 router, but for this price, you expect things to be perfect. When playing games, it is jarring to be disconnected halfway through every game.I've run ping tests to the router so I know for certain that it's the connection to the router that's failing. All devices connecting to the router have the same issue, so I know it's not the wireless adapter. I would not recommend.

Cons: I wish access permissions could be a little more comprehensive - for example, default - deny all. This would allow only approved MAC's to access and deny all others. Currently, only deny list.

Pros: Stellar performance, friendly but comprehensive interface.

Probably the best 'N' router on the market. Replacing failing Linksys E4200 (5Ghz NEVER worked consistently). Improved coverage on 2.2Ghz compared with previous. Yet to test 5Ghz.

Cons: - Could have been USB 3.0 from the beginning but that's a not really a con, just a wish. You'll have to get the rt-ac66-u if you want USB 3.0.

Pros: - Great looking- Rock Solid performances!- Dual-Band that will actually get you to 450mbps on WIFI if you have a 3x3 WIFI antenna.- AiCloud allow you to easily create  you own home cloud service by only connection that harddrive that take the dust on your shelve.- Asus is very reactive at providing firmware updates regularly.

Hands down this is the best router I've ever had. My uptime is currently at 31 days and I have over a dozen devices (3 wired and ~ 10 wireless) attached to this guy.You plug it in, configure it, and it works. So far, I have to say it's flawless. For the last few years, I've been buying Linksys, D-Link, and even Belkin. I've tried DD-WRT and Tomato to increase stability. This is the first time that I can remember that I've ever been so happy with a router purchase.I will continue buying ASUS if I ever need to get a new one.

My Telus Optik TV Actiontec all-in-one modem sucks and delivers very weak signal on 2nd floor from basement. Their support is lame. Bite the bullet and learn from internet. Set up this baby in Access Point mode and work like a charm. Five bar signals and full 16Mbps wi-fi speed on 2nd floor. Telus should really offer a solution like that.

Cons: Firmware it ships with is problematic. USB printer keeps getting lost.

Pros: Excellent range and speed. Setup is a breeze.
Comment:
The 5Ghz network wasn't available until after I upgraded the firmware - which is easy to do.Got printing working via the USB port using LPR (the discovery utility did not locate the printer) but despite the router admin page saying it's still connected and the network computers can still see the printer, after some idle time all print jobs fail. Power cycling the router is the only apparent fix. Put the printer back on my home network via Samba and have no problems.Despite a few minor issues this is one of the best routers available. Zero connection drops with multiple wireless devices.Highly recommended.
