Cons: They don't freak'n state that it is only meant for horizontal use.

Pros: Good for it's intended application!
Comment:
Only meant for horizontal application. Trust me, don't use this in a tower unless you plan to never overclock. It will not function to its full potential and you'll be wasting your money.I only give this item a 2 because they ought to explicitly state what application it is meant for and what it's not meant for.Believe me I tested it. In OCCT I would always overheat until I put my machine on it's side. Voila, didn't overheat. Needless to say I swapped it out for a better tower heatsink. Xigmatec Dark Knight, this is an excellent cooler.

Pros: Large Size fast heat reduction

Bought this to replace the stock HSF om my AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Dual Core AM2, Imediataly replaced it's Fan with a Noctua NF-S12-800 120MM Ultra Quiet Cooling Fan 800RPMThe Stock Setup would have naturaly been over kill but with the noctua fan it makes a dead silent CPU coolerGreat combo for Low End Processor that you want to make silent

This review was modfied by poster @ 08-11-08 05:22 AM

Cons: - bit difficult to install on intel cpu- not well designed for it bulkiness

Pros: - does the job well- no noise
Comment:
I got this to replace the stock Heatsink/fan on my Q6600 and it does the job well. SpeedFan says that my CPU is always in the 35C to 40C idle and 42C to 48C load. I havent Oced my cpu yet so i cant say how it will preform. As for installing it, it was a bit difficult because of its weight, when you install it on the cpu before putting the board in the case(you have no choice) the pins tend to come back out and while putting the board in the case. pushing them back in can become frustrating. Overall at this price you can really go wrong and it does the job well.

Cons: Load temps vs Idle tempsTricky thermal paste application

Pros: Low PriceLow Noise
Comment:
I use this Cooler with my Q9450 w/ P5Q Pro. The installation was OK. Although, once installed, my idles temps were low enough but once I Prime my Computer, it does spikes over 25 Celcius degrees above. I changes the Thermal paste 3 times with different brands, swithed the heatsink orientation and finally found an article on the Internet about how to properly apply thermal paste on a direct-touch heatsink. I finally had this: Q9450 - 3.2 GHz - 1.30 Vcore30c IDLE and Spiking at 63c at FULL LOADAll this with a 23c Ambiant Temperature.

Cons: Packaging was adequate, but not great. Awkward Installation

Pros: Large 120mm Fan, Lightweight materials, Downward airflow
Comment:
This was purchased to replace the stock fan on my Q6600(G0). My motherboard is an Asus P5K Deluxe wifi and my case is an Antec 900. My initial considerations when looking for a replacement fan was airflow over not only the CPU, but the surrounding chipset heatsinks and ram. The P5K Deluxe has 3 large heatsinks on 3 sides of the CPU socket. On the 4th side is the ram slots about an inch away. Installing the RVT-12025D with the heatpipes toward the ram slots afforded plenty of clearance for the heatsinks. My ram is Mushkin HP series, so I didn't need to worry about vertical clearance there. The installation was hampered by the location of the CPU socket on the motherboard. In the Antec 900, this cooler afforded little room to apply pressure to the pins in order to secure it to the board. In hind sight, I would remove the board before installing this. That being said, the installtion is pretty straight forward despite the unusual design. The included paste was of decent quality and quantity and I did not feel compelled to replace it with Artic Silver or anything else in my toolbox. It is also worth noting that I utilize the side fan on the Antec 900 and this fan does not interfere with that either. This is largely thanks the the CPU socket location. So thats positive. As mentioned above, the Packaging was not superb. It comes in a typical cardboard box with plastic viewing window. However there is very little inside the case to prevent it from rattling around. there is no moulded plastic as you see in other packages to keep the unit safe from damage during handling. Fortunately, mine showed up undamaged. You will also want to be careful not to exert pressure onto the unit's heatsink as it is litterally held up by the heatpipes alone. They are copper and thus fairly soft. Performance wise I am suitably impressed. I did quite a bit of research before landing on this particular cooler and am not disappointed. Despite its awkwardness and packaging it performs well for a fraction of what you pay for other coolers. Its not perfect, and as always if you are going to seriously overclock its probably not for you. But given how well it cools the surrounding chipsets and ram, its good enough for a mild overclock. All in all its brought my temps down to 35-40 degrees idle and 50-55 degrees under load. Well within safe range for this cpu and that with a mild Overclock to 3.0Ghz. Overall it brought them down by 10-12 degrees. Not bad at all.One last thing; My e-mails back and forth with Kingwin were interesting. Most of my questions did not get answered fully, but they were all answered quickly. Chalk it up to lost in translation. I didn't get the impression the people I was dealing with had English as their first language. Or second. But they made every effort to point me in the right direction and did so in good time and that is commendable.-Chris
