Out of the box and running in fifteen minuets.Uncomplicated to place with each other...and yes..I did study the directions.<man shameɭ tool, a screw driver. Now my old 160 gig seagate HD lives and stores again. My new Computer has STAT drives and not IDE.21 bucks for 160 gigs! The drive is hooked up to my home network and works excellent. Nicely its sort of slow moving files but its USB and not an IDE cable.and the foam peanuts...what to do with them....?

Operates. Excellent price tag. I don't like how the on/off switch functions. It tends to make me feel it's going to kill my HDD. The photos in the instruction book are somewhat hard to study. Effortless way to recover data from a dead motherboard.

Modest & strong building. Smooth metal casing. Really compact and just barely big adequate to fit the HD. Incredibly basic setup, with significantly less than a 5 minute setup time from box to computer. Just plug in the HD, plug in the enclosure, and your set! Seriously, NO SCREWS!? So, there are all these tiny screw holes and directions for which screws go where (not that I require the directions), but totally no screws at all! So my complete enclosure is loosey goosey till I get the right screws. As unimportant as the screws may well be in the functionality of the enclosure, I almost certainly would have paid ŭ more on some other enclosure if I knew this didn't come with the stupid screws! then again, perhaps I'm the only one particular who didn't get them.... I would have offered it 5 eggs, but I discover the reality that the screws were not integrated to be actually annoying to the point that I would have rather purchased a unique enclosure....it's just a stupid factor to leave out!

Simple to assemble. takes up extremely small area on desk. Dim blue light for night time so as to night blind you. Although I assume it was more an error on my element, I was not capable to keep the data that was previously on the difficult drive. Ended up obtaining to re-format it to get any use out of the HDD. I'll definately obtain one of these external enclosures once more need to I want to construct one more external hdd.

There's an on/off switch on the drive which assists with changing out drives between the 2 that i have. (Almost like hot-swap.) The aluminum is also a fantastic material due to its heat transferring. Gets a little warm but i wont knock an egg bc the drives inside them are close to a decade old.(Not a con but the drives im working with are virtually as well slow for usb 2., transfer prices are slowed down due to read/write speeds of the 4500rpm drives.) I had two old 80gb Ide/Pata drives lying about and i thought i'd put them to great use by buying 2 of these enclosures, and im satisfied i did. I applied 1 for a present for a friend, and the other im utilizing to store all the information i put on my 80gb ipod classic.

Runs quite cool, nice bright led, incredibly strudy. I wish that the switch was on the front, but overall a great enclosure. I had an old HDD sitting about, and this enclosure put it back into service. Went collectively really quickly.

I've had a lot of external exclosures, I took a possibility with Rosewill considering that my Fantom's kept dying. Needless to say, the excellent of Rosewill impressed me drastically! I will surely continue to use these from now on. Runs cool, and no challenges. I don't know why people say it runs hot? This is created out of 100% aluminum, so maybe they have a hot drive. I keep with Seagate, they run warm but not hot. none

Nicely built, modest compact frame. Very good stand for these who like it vertical. I purchased the SATA and this IDE model. The SATA enclosure worked like a charm. The IDE was DOA. No energy, even employing the energy provide from the SATA box. Asked NewEgg for replacement enclosure, which came about a week later. Guess what, a different dud. No power at all. When I would turn it on, the tiny blue light would flicker and turn off. This is with and with out a difficult drive.NewEgg replaced with no hesitation and I'm waiting for my 100% refund, such as the shipping I paid to send them back. It may possibly just have been this distinct model or manufactured lot, since definitely other individuals have this issue operating. As far as the SATA enclosure (also Rosewill), that one is working completely.

Weighs adequate to avoid papers from blowing away on my desk. Is currently only helpful as a paperweight. I installed a new 2TB WD drive in this enclosure and nothing at all happens. The drive operates perfectly in one more enclosure, but not in this one.

Definitely none!! I bought the Rosewill RX35-AT-TU external enclosure for my massive IDE HD. It was a ส.97 and two hours of labor mistake. The HD went in half way and would not go in any further and worst but could not be taken out. Immediately after about two hours I was capable to get my drive out of the box. I then cut the brackets off the face plate and put the drive in loose. To no surprise the faceplate could not be mounted on the box. By that time, I did not care if the box was working or not!!! Nevertheless, it did and I rertrieved my data from the hard drive and then smelt one thing burning - the box died in a cloud of smoke and took my HD with it. It now resides in a landfill somewhere. I will never once more by a Rosewill piece of eqipment. This unit is a piece of junk (and that is placing it nicely).

This drive enclosure has the identical manufacturing standards as enclosures that are twice the cost! This drive enclosure has the exact same manufacturing requirements as enclosures that are twice the value! I gave this item five stars b/c it is priced like I assume these enclosures Must be - I feel three.5" enclosures are all fairly much the exact same, so go affordable. Some points to be conscious of: Ƒ) You are cramming a 3.five" difficult drive into an enclosure that just barely fits it. Take time to slide it with each other gently ƒ) In my Rosewill enclosure a sharp soldering point on the circuit board practically pierced a hole in the IDE cable. I clipped off the point, filed the sharp solder edge down and place electrical tape more than it. I mention this b/c this is a typical scenario for some snafu that can pop up with really hard drive enclosures in general. Ɠ) Be careful with the IDE cable. I thought the cable in this enclosure was pretty sturdy. But, ought to it get broken you can use a common IDE cable ࿈-pin 80 conductor). You may well want to set your drive as either MASTER or CABLE Select. If you use a normal cable it may be difficult to fit every thing in the enclosure.

Newegg shipped out quickly. I took a functioning hard drive out of a machine mainly because I require the space. Got this enclosure to place it into and was looking forward to using it. The case felt truly sturdy and every thing seemed to have gone effectively but when I turn it on and plug it into the computer absolutely nothing takes place; the blue led just stays lit and then soon after a couple minutes it turns off. Seems like a quite frequent problem with these enclosures. Believed it could have been a jumper concern with the hdd but altering from master to cable choose still didn't transform something. I have boughten other rosewill products in the previous and have been happy with the outcomes. Unfortunately this time it looks like I got a defective unit.

- Low cost.- Metal case for better heat dissapation.- Great match/finish. - Drive the enclosure was purchased for wouldn't spin up.- Brand new drive spun up, but would not transfer even 1GB of data with no hanging. Bought to property applied, (but identified good) Maxtor 120GB DiamondMax drive. Drive would not spin up in this enclosure. Attempted identified good 300GB Maxtor. Same result. Applied DVM to verify voltage at power pins on both drive's PCBs. Ƴ and ი volts present. Purchased *brand new* Western Digital drive at BB. WD drive would spin up. Nevertheless, after erasing/reformatting the WD on my iMac, I attempted to copy ㅠGB of information to it. Following approx 500MB, the enclosure's blue LED went out and the transfer stopped. Attempted a number of occasions on two distinct Macs. Similar result. Transfer seemed to quit in a different place each and every time. Note: I also own a Rosewill 3.five" SATA to USB enclosure that has worked flawlessly for two months. Affordable. This enclosure has completely no ventilation. It's like placing a difficult drive into a pizza oven. I burnt out TWO hard drives in this enclosure before I threw it out. As a fan or Rosewill, I blame myself for trying to be affordable on the enclosure. I came back to Newegg and ordered the Rosewill RX-358-S SLV (Silver) 3.5" SATA to USB & eSATA Ext. Enclosure w/Int.80mm fan. For further money, this second enclosure is flawless.

Exact same as before: low expense, very good match/finish, metal case. Just does not function on either of my Macs (iMac and MacBook). Rosewill had Newegg send me a different enclosure at their expense. They did this incredibly rapidly and I have to say, I was impressed by the superb buyer service. That being stated, this enclosure just does not work with any of the 3 drives or two Macs I attempted it with. Formats fine with Disk Utility, but hangs every single time. Seems to be a extremely widespread dilemma with Macs and some of the low-cost external enclosures judging by looking forums with my console messages. Pretty simple to use. Just plug it in and go. I had a bit of problems maintaining every little thing aligned to get the HD to match in. The mounting point is really incredibly flimsy. It's cheap and can present endless hours of exciting when you come across old HDs laying about your area that you don't necessarily want to place into your laptop but want to see what's on them. HD fits inside nice and snug. I feel like I don't even truly will need the screws (but when I put in the HD I wanted in there permanently, I was able to screw the screws in with no problem).

Seems to be well-constructed, looks nice, simple to assemble. Bought two and each failed out of the box. Received "Windows can\'t recognize this USB device". Created no distinction how quite a few IDE drives I attempted, which Computer I attempted, or either unit I attempted. Newegg.com was fantastic (as usually) about refunding me one hundred% for each items and covering the shipping. Cheap, lightweight, and transportable! A tiny warm. I was cautious with all the poor testimonials the IU version was acquiring but I figured spending ฤ for a failed enclosure is better than 贄 for a failed drive, though this was purhased for only an 80GB drive. I've got a stack of IDE drives sitting behind me so I will be purchasing a couple a lot more in a month or so if this a single can stand the tests I will throw at it. So far, so very good!
