These speakers are off the chart! The clarity and bass are way beyond that for being computer speakers. THX certified makes it even better. If you are a hardcore gamer, this system will bring the true sound of the game to life!

Cons: - Regular price is a real joke.- Property cable so good luck finding a replacement if you ever happen to break them. It also means that you can't find any way to extend them and imo they're pretty short.- No DTS/DD. I would had liked an optical input for this but sadly there isn't. Anyway since it's not a 5.1 set it's not like it's a big matter.- Needs at least 3" but idealy 6" of clearance around the speakers to reach it's full potential so you may not have enough room on a very small desk so I've just put them on the floor in my sister's bedroom and it's all fine.

Pros: - Very stylish.- Very small. Trust me it looks much smaller in real than on the pictures.- Price/Quality ration that blows everything miles away when on sale at 200$. Nothing even comes a little close.- RCA connection so you can use them also on a TV without the need of unplugging ur speakers.- Coolest control pod I've ever seen.- The pod even have a "headphone amp" built inside!
Comment:
It may sound like cheap marketing but as the RazerGuy says on the box, you gotta hear them to believe it lol. I'm a audiophile and I just can't stand bad sound quality. I previously had Logitech Z-5500 before upgrading to KEF KHT-3005 here and I've bought these Mako for the birthday of my sister to replace her Logitech Z-2300 that used to be the best value for its price but trust me the Mako blow them away completely! Hell it even sounds better than the Z-5500! I was suprised considering she's only on a lame onboard soundcard instead of an Auzentech X-Fi.When you close ur eyes and listen at the sound, you would never believe that the sound comes from such tiny speakers. It really sound like something huge and powerful that ur gonna tell urself "wtf?!" when you'll crank the volume on these for the first few times. To make it short, if you don't need a 5.1 surround then look no further than the Mako for PC speakers as the only way to get better sound would be to get a hometheater system and now that's MUCH MUCH more expensive than 200$. It's actualy the only PC speakers that I consider as pretty good instead of "alright/ok/decent" as the whole market of thse speakers seems to be dominated by cheap speakers from Logitech and Creative, sadly.

Cons: -Razer has horrible support with RMA *slow and going around in circles... like the info was update  when I originally called

Pros: -Great sound!-Very nice looking and love the control pod. I don't know why people are having so many problems with it unless it was DEFECTIVE like my previous set was.
Comment:
Great product if it works. No one else has had my issue with the unresponsive control pod with my first set.The funny thing is I haven't actually read many defect reviews or negative reviews about the mako's. Hence, my reason for the purchase. Everything was in good order... I just wanted to know what was wrong with the pod or whatever could have lead to it. Probably my last product to be purchased with Razer. Will stick to logitech next time. Great support always with them.NCIX great as usual with fixing RMA's!

These babies sound fantastic,as other reviews said, be prepared to play with these guys for a while, sound adjustment and speaker placement, as they do take about 20 to 30 hours to break in, the sound just keeps getting better and better. As far as other reviews saying that the control pad is a pain, I just don't see it, very easy to use and a very nice feature. The speaker cable are propriotary, but big deal, as long as you aren't flinging them around the room, I don't see a problem with that.

I needed a set of speakers and these went on sale for $199.99 so it would be silly NOT to buy them!I'm using a prelude with these and it pumps out crystal clear music. At first the music was a little staticy but it was just because one of the satellite's cord was loose. After some equalizer tweaks it sounded insane! My neighbours hate me :)The touch pad took some getting used to so it's in both categories. It's so slick looking though and really not that hard to get used to. This review was modfied by poster @ 03-17-10 03:15 PM

Cons: Touch control is not easy to use but really I don't mind. It looks cool enough that I don't even care, and once you get used to it, it's not bad at all.

Pros: Excellent Bass for my liking, LOUD!!!!...

My movies and music sound great on these, along with music on an iphone as well. I don't use a sound card or anything and I find the sound to be VERY satisfactory. Purchased for 200$ and I'm so glad I did - You get razer/THX quality and at a fair price I think, if you get 5.99$ shipping too this is a steal.

I debated between a Bose Companion 2 or 3 vs. the Razer Mako. I have had a chance to listen to the Bose speakers but not the Razer. After reading many reviews I decided to take a chance and bought them here for $250 with no shipping costs. WOW! These speakers are truly amazing. The sound quality is very clean and powerful. The bass is strong but very accurate. I love the way these speakers look and sound. I highly recommend them over the equivalent Bose. P.S. The Klipsch 2.1 does not even come close to these.

Cons: - hard to find replacement cable- touch control lags a bit, hard to get exact vol- heavy- pricey

Pros: - crystal sound quality- stylish looking- high quality product- on sale relatively cheaper, but still a bit pricey- razer product- satellites are small - touch control is slick- high power 300W

got those on sale for 149.99, very very good deal and have been waiting for long time. high quality stylish products. no need to mention about all the fames, just google the reviews you will know how good it is. The only two points make this product less perfect are 1) even for the all time low price 150, it is still too much for a 2.1 speaker system 2) who can tell me where to find those unique cables...

Pros: sounds great and love the style
Comment:
I got this on sale during boxing day and i couldn't wait to get a hold of it. It really sounds great but unfortunately i have to rma it cause there is this hissing sound coming from the speakers. I don't know if anyone else has this but i suspect that its a one off problem. The price at regular is insane since you can get real speakers for that price but at the sale price was worth the price. hopefully i get one that works properly.

Cons: Have to be placed carefully (even though it doesn't really make a difference) so if you have a small and/or cluttered desk, it could impead the sound.

Pros: Clear, Crisp SoundBooming BassBeautiful AestheticsSpeakers are nice and small, can fit almost anywhereOmnidirectional speakers actually work amazingly
Comment:
These have to be one of the best speakers I have ever heard/bought. The sound technology put it this really makes the system boom. Even though their 2.1 speakers, the omnidirectional technology makes them 5.1 when watching movies or even listening to music. You can really hear everything around you, even though the speakers are sitting right in front of you. The bass is really crisp and loud and the sound difference is noticble. It makes the crappy audio from TV shows online sound better. The only downfall is that the speakers have to have atleast 3-6 inches of clearence around them to get the full benefit, but even then there is minimal effect when stuff is around. The price is a little to rich for my blood, but I baought them on the last sale for 199.99 with free shipping. When they release the 5.1 versions, I am definatly picking them up.

I've had this for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it. The sound that comes outta this thing is crisp and it looks great too. Many ppl say the puck controls are hard to get used to but it was easy for me from the get go. I also have this connected to my TV and it's great. I only wish that it also can with a remote control. I would never buy this at regular price but for $200 it's a 5 star from me.

I can't say I've auditioned every set of PC speakers ever made, but these are outstanding. The bass isn't just a muddy thump-thump-thump but is clear and well-defined. I think they're worth every penny. (A couple of caveats: I'm using them in conjunction with a high-end audio card (ASUS Xonar D2X) and I use them almost exclusively for gaming.) I agree with the other reviewers here that the touch control can be a little difficult to work with, at least at first. Build quality is first-rate, far better than any others I've seen.

Cons: - A little heavy (They are FREAKING HUGE).- The "THX" symbol on the sattelites are not etched in like the one on the subwoofer, and may come off. Entirely cosmetic.-Must be placed on FLAT surface, with at least a 10 CM radius of flat space around each sattelite and 20 CM radius around the 'woofer.

Pros: - Very powerful sound. Works best if you have a good sound card.- Love the controls. Some say the touchpad-esque controls are hard to get used to. Well, I guess they have never used an iPOD.- Very stylish- Despite the Size, quite stealth looking on computer desk.- Amazing price when I bought it...$ 150.
Comment:
Probably the BLEEDING EDGE of 2.1 speaker systems. Razer has made a high quality speaker set, that looks amazing, and sounds even better than any expectations you might have. The controls are awesome everytime you use them. The Bass is powerful, could be more, but would become impractical for a house or apartment. If placed properly, can literally shake the room. It truly created a virtual surround sound feeling, and is quite immersive. Just buy it, when it is on sale for 200 or under. Definitely not worth the $ 400 MSRP price.

Cons: - Space requirements- Price (if not on sale)- Proprietary cabling

Pros: - Look great- Sound clarity and depth- Powerful, consistent performance
Comment:
Before purchasing these speakers I read a countless number of reviews and opinions online over the course of a couple weeks. I'd been using 5.1 PC surround speakers for about 10 years, although I hadn't had them setup properly for the past 3 or 4. Where I didn't have them in a proper configuration (I had Logitech z5300 satellites sitting in less-than-ideal positions on my corner desk) I decided it was time to save some space and go with a quality 2.1 set.I had looked at the Logitech z2300's but also discovered the Razer Makos around the same time. The biggest drawback to the Makos was the price, a tough pill to swallow at 399.99 (at the time of writing this review). What really piqued my interest was that NCIX was putting these on sale regularly for 249.99, putting them closer in price to the Logitech z2300's.I was a bit apprehensive as I thought perhaps the technology claims in these speakers were gimmicked towards "leet gamerz", and I was also concerned that perhaps the great reviews the Makos were getting were coming from people trying to justify having spent so much money on a 2.1 set of speakers.Since they were on sale ($150 off) I took the plunge and ordered myself a set. Once received I set them up according to Razer's suggestion (6" clearance around the satellites, sub in a corner). This could be an issue for someone with limited desk space, although I haven't tested myself to see how much their performance is impacted without this clearance.I use my machine primarily for gaming and listening to music, so naturally I used those for testing (for reference I'm using a Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card). My current MMO of choice is Lord of the Rings Online. This worked well as it makes use of EAX, a great musical score and combat effects. The difference in sound between these speakers and my old set literally made me smile when I began playing. The background sounds were much more pronounced, from cackling fires to Minstrel drumming, the effects were much more "alive". The in-game music was also a great deal more inspiring, the instrumental climaxes were enough to give me chills and overall it has made it a much more immersive experience. In combat the "clanging" of swords in cave environment produced amazing echoes. The best way I can think to describe  it is being near a frozen lake on a very cold day. When the ice "cracks" the sound hangs in the air for what seems like several seconds. It is also worth noting that although these are no replacement for a properly configured 5.1 set where surround is concerned, they do very good positioning for a 2.1 set. For example if something is directly behind me it is hard to tell whether it's behind me or in front of me by purely listening to the audio, however sounds coming from the front, sides and and slightly over the shoulder are discernable. For Music I ran through some Radiohead, Muse, Powderfinger, A Perfect Circle, Killswitch Engage and on and on. I'd only planned on listening to an album or two but after hearing the difference these made to my music I just kept going.By default these sounded very good, but by making a few adjustments I was able to get some amazing music from these. I switched my X-Fi to Audio Creation mode and enabled bit-matched playback. I then used FooBar2000 with Creative's ASIO plug-in to produce some great sound. In addition to the music sounding terrific I can now also hear subtle sounds at times such as breaths, fingers sliding on strings and background instruments. In summary it's still tough to get around the retail 399.99 price tag, but they are very worth it when you can find them on sale at around 249.99. Some people may be discouraged by the proprietary cabling (flat ethernet type cabling) and lack of optical input - but these were not factors for me.If you have any questions feel free to look me up in the forums!

Pros: Look cool, or at least differentSound greatSub can be placed on desk, it's not hugeHandy line-in jack on volume podFlat ethernet cabling for the speakers - probably resists interference? If not, at least it looks cool :P
Comment:
These are really good speakers, just might not be for everyone. It took me a while to get good at adjusting the volume quickly on the control pod, and to realize the Line1/2 is touch sensitive and also the razer logo is the on/off. It's pretty obvious once your speakers stop working, but some people might not figure it out...Most speakers in this price range would have some digital input and, well, if you paid the $399 MSRP I'd expect a 4 or 5 speaker system. On the other hand, wiring rear speakers is sometimes a pain for a computer, and digital input shouldn't be sounding any different unless you have some interference. I can't turn these up all the way since I'm in an apartment, but from what I've heard the sound quality is quite good. I will give these speakers 5/5 assuming they are purchased at $300 or less, as they go on sale quite often.

Cons: Price, need dedicated sound card (to make the most out of these speakers)

Pros: Discreet appearance, unique, accurate sound, precise bass, ease of control pad
Comment:
Having upgraded from the Creative GigaWorks T40 it is safe to say that these speakers sound amazing. Mako does not sound as precise because they are down-firing speakers but the sound sounds just as accurate and the subwoofer makes the difference. The subwoofer isn't over the top punchy as most Logitech's as it is discreet and precise which counts; you can still turn up the bass on the control pad or via in OS. As I've mentioned, the speaker and the subwoofer are down-firing. You'll need to mind what surfaces to use this on as these aren't the usual designed speakers. I've used this on a wooden, metal, and lastly, a glass desk. Sounds great on wood and fine on glass, however, there is too much resonance on a metal desk which gives off an echo-like effect. Many overlook getting a decent sound card. It seriously makes a big difference in addition to a decent set of speakers. On-board is never is good as a dedicated card; would you use on-board graphics for gaming? To conclude, I use the Mako for gaming, music, video and I love it. Sounds potent yet precise and accurate. Recommended for $~300. Don't bother paying $400 for these, get the Mako when it is on sale.

Cons: - Need a flat surface for this to perform (downblast technology)at it's highest so for your sub woofer make sure you have hardwood or buy one of those plastic mat for your computer chair and make sure it's on it. If sub woofer is on carpet...it's honestly very bad.

Pros: - Crisp sounds- Can hear many things from songs that I've not heard before on other speakers...
Comment:
I was just blown away at how clear and crisp it was. I cranked this thing at full blast & sub woofer at full blast no cracks or anything what so ever. Tested speakers with Far Cry 2 just wow well worth the $249.99 I paid for on NCIX (one day special). I was considering Logitech Z-2300 but I had my eyes on these for the longest time plus I read a lot of review that the Logitech ones aren't as clear & have slight distortions. I have to say probably best 2.1 speakers out in market.Since it's hard for me to setup a 5.1 setup for my computer this is probably the best thing I can do and I'm very happy with these speakers. If you can grab a pair of these below $300 tax in. I would recommend it. I wouldn't go more than $300 for a 2.1 setup. If you want something nice but below $120 get yourself Logitech Z-2300 for medium price range $150~$200-ish I would go Klipsch Promedia 2.1Klipsch speakers might be a little hard to find though...anyways these Razer Mako 2.1 has exceed my expectations and these are definitely great for gaming which I am... i have had these for about 6 months now and can say they are awesome. the touch dial is a bit wonky but i try and use the volume control on my keyboard instead. nice highs-could be a bit stronger. Fatastic mids and nice bass. To me the sound is a bit more natural than you might get off of some speakers so if you are a bass thumpin kinda dude these are not your bag of tricks. I use them for music first and gaming second. Oh, the headphone jack is handy as well.

Pros: Very innovative, sound wonderful, exceptionally clear.
Comment:
Great product but I had to select  2 stars because of it's price. Even on sale it's not really worth purchasing again. And in all honesty I have a little grudge because I had picked up the last unit before they went on sale. I've been using this product for a week and I'm using it with the onboard sound that came with my asus p5q pro.MusicIt is very bass-heavy, notes are quite punchy and don't linger. Some notes are distorted or not too strongly emphasized. Slight treble dropoff. Now I can hear things I didn't pick up before and for the average mp3 they sound awesome. After listening to brand new's millstone (alt) I love these speakers. Also very clear with very fast pace songs.Movies and GamesFor a 2.1 great but I'm about one foot away and I don't hear much like behind me...well duh. I thought about buying another pair to go in the back but I would have to have 2 subwoofers then...hmmmmmm. Been playing bioshock and cod5, sounds are clear but not very precise as in, I can't tell if the steps are coming 5 feet away at 1 o clock or 7 feet at 2. Also with games only, I felt there was a lack of punch. There was some, and I could feel the explosions but should have been more. Can be fixed with the easy to use control, but then I would always have to adjust between playing games and listening to music. For movies, the dialogue is beautiful. I got the sense that I was closer to all the talking. The real weakness is obviously the price. It's just so much for a 2.1, prob the best 2.1 on the market today. The only real reason not to get them is knowing there's probably a 5.1 version coming out in the far future, perhaps more like hoping.NotesI had to remove my realtek hd alc1200 drivers to make these sound good. Before they would really curb my music and z#$%z up my loudnesses. They are so damn clear...I'm turning up the volume so much still so clear, may go deaf sooner... low quality music 128K or less sound better but I can't recommend them after hearing what these speakers can do with higher quality music.
