Cons: -SLOW. in multiple ways. It will lag slightly while scrolling through your browser. It will lag to the point of being useless when scrolling through pictures (both your saved photos and Cowon's answer to the iPod cover flow). Transferring files is also slow. I believe it is about 6.5 mbps transfer speed.-Touchscreen is not as accurate or as responsive as a certain competitor.-Seems to forget all the settings I make on the custom UI (I use "Claw's UI") every time I transfer files, and there are A LOT of settings changes I make on the UI.-Out of the box, it does not have many customization options to work with (Although, with Claw`s UI I have more options than I know what to do with)-Screen is inevitably going to get obliterated by fingerprints :(

Pros: -Great Sound Quality, especially with the EQ settings-Amazing Display, vibrant colours, life-like contrast ratios (when you turn the system on, the screen displays blue text on a black background, the background looks "off" as there is no backlight on OLED displays.)-OLED displays are more efficient than LCD and therefore the battery life is LONG.-Customizable User Created Interfaces , if you wish-Larger list of supported file formats (FLAC, Divx)-Buttons for Skip, Volume and Play/Pause.-Surprisingly Light but still sturdy. Scratch resistant screen too.
Comment:
This was reviewed based on firmware 2.51. I like it. I also liked my iPod Touch. I like the S9 for the screen quality and support of more formats and its overall openness. I liked the iPod for its ease of use and performance.I found that both devices sounded about the same with their default EQs, however, using the ipod`s bass booster setting and the X-bass setting on the S9, the S9 produced noticeably more powerful bass, meaning that the S9 produces a wider range of sound than the iPod. Also, the S9 is able to produce louder sound than the iPod which shouldn`t matter to you if the iPod can already make your ears bleed, but it might matter to people with headphones that require more power. If you tend to watch movies on the go frequently, the S9 beats the iPod in every way except screen size. More formats, better colour, longer battery life.If you want to get the most out of a personal media player, get an iPod Touch for the limitless apps, wi-fi, and superior interface. If you want to get the best out of a personal media player, get a Cowon S9 for the best sound quality, the clearest video and the longest battery life. Cons: having to deal with additional firmware installation, and a little heavy for a shirt pocket

Pros: Amazing surround sound and great touch screen
Comment:
Awesome unit, great recording even through built-in mic and fm radio features. Drag and drop  files, no itunes, all a big plus. Worst feature is mine got stolen after only two months, I miss it deeply.

Cons: Proprietary usb cable. Price. Software that comes with it.

Pros: Really sharp, clear, and colourful display. Long battery life. Plays most video and music formats out there. Great sound!
Comment:
Well let me start with I have only owned Ipods since the mp3 player came out. I really began to have a dislike towards itunes and all the proprietary problems that comes with an Ipod.So this does everything a ipod can't. I have dragged and dropped any video I have wanted to, and any music file I've wanted to. No questions, "or sorry you can't do that". Lots of setting for the high quality sound that the S9 puts out. The EQ and sound makes the ipod seem like a bunch of apps with no real substance when it comes to the quality of an mp3 player. You have basic apps that you may use or not, but I would say don't buy this if it's trinkets and games you want. If its high quality video and music in a compact player you want, then this has to be one of the best. One last thing. I have read a lot of reviews about the S9 feeling light and cheap. After a week I really like the weight of it and the feel to me is of quality. I you want shiny stainless steal, well this is not it. Hope this helps.

Cons: User interface take some time to get used to it. Ackward placement of the headphone jack.Basic bundle does not include a wall charger.Proprietery jack ( no mini-USB.

Pros: Battery Life : Simply out of this world !Screen resolution : Go home Apple ! Amoled RuleAudio : Got to get good Headphone to maximime this strengh. Stellar audio.
Comment:
2 weeks of pure delight for my eyes and ears. Very strong contender to the I-Pod Touch or Samsung P3. Nicely placed buttons of the top of the device, does not force you to get the Cowon S9 out of your pocket for basic operations. Nice for cold winter morning.Overall : If you value Audio/video over versatility ( I-Pod touch), i strongly recommend this device.

Cons: - None

Pros: - No applications needed for operation- Good sound quality- Easy operation- Beautiful design- Great screen quality
Comment:
The device is probably one of the best MP3 players I have had. I've had a few Apple iPods, and would never purchase one of them over this device. It is light, nice looking, and functions great. I purchased it from NCIX for about $240 via pricematch at the beginning of September 2009, and don't regret my choice at all.

Cons: For me, none. For some the UI will take a little time to adjust, but after a day or two, you'll get it.

Pros: Sound and video quality are excellent, build quality is top notch, and I don't understand some of the reviews knocking this. Good set of sound enhancements.
Comment:
Well I bought a cable that plugs into the headphone jack and straight to the front of AVR-receiver, set the EQ to Normal and I get HI-FI sound that's portable. A big plus for me because I have a seperate receiver in bedroom, and the quality is equal to CD, all of my tracks are FLAC encoded. If you're going to attach it your receiver, use the NOrmal setting in EQ, it sounds best. Another plus is that you can drive any headphones with this S9, full size, or portable, just adjust the volume.Big plust is battery life, for music it lasts at least 30 to 50 hours, for video 7hours and up.Overall a good purchase from someone who loves music and fidelity.

Cons: CONS:- Kinda slow transfer speeds through USB (6.5 MB/s)- No way of charging w/o USB (which BTW is some weird type I've never seen before, possibly a proprietary type)- Laggy in the scroll menus and when changing portrait and landscape modes- Pictures, even super high res panoramas, don't load to a very high resolution, so when you zoom in on the picture its very pixilated- Body made of plastic and feels a little bit cheap, although not overly so

Pros: PROS:- VERY nice, high quality, capacitive touch sensor, bright screen, with amazing almost 180 degree perfect viewing!- same great quality audio as D2- very good battery life- Bluetooth support- Improved Radio compared to D2 (THANK YOU COWON), it's actually usable now and doesn't completely suck whenever you're moving at all! (although still not that great, but decent)- Conveniently placed buttons for volume up/down, next/prev. track, and play/pause- Pretty good video support, just copied an Xvid avi without resizing and it just works great (see specs for details)- Good looking interface that's easy to use (quite similar to D2 but better looking)- On screen power button (I thought it was kinda cool...)- Surprisingly lighter than D2- Not an Ipod!
Comment:
Overall, I would recommend this PMP over the D2. I would get one myself if it had WiFi (this is my sister's). Hopefully with firmware updates the lag issues will be improved as this is the major downfall IMO, but this only occurs when scrolling through your lists (music, video, etc.) Great job Cowon!Pictures Here:http://forums.ncix.com/forums/?mode=showthread&forum=116&threadid=1933507&pagenumber=0&msgcount=31&subpage=1&product_id=35671
