Outstanding Video high quality, exceptional sound good quality. Newegg has by far the greatest price on this product. As well a lot of input output connectors located on the sides of the unit, would like to have seen it moved to the back, but it seems like the designers wanted to preserve the type aspect unchanged.Remote buttons are not intuitive and takes a although to figure out exactly what does what.Occasional freezing. Just wanted to comment on the freezing issue that numerous men and women have commented on. It is correct that the unit seems to freeze all of a sudden when altering channels, the second day employing this solution I noticed the unit freezing up a lot and the only way to fix it was to take away the energy. On the other hand, when you are altering channels on the unit, be positive to pause a few seconds to let the tuner lock on to the frequency before altering the channel again. I noticed if I do this the unit will not lock up, but if you rush the channel changes then the possibility of the unit locking up is there. Considering that I have been pausing involving channel alterations I have never ever had the unit lock up again. Lastly, for the value I would say it is an amazing unit, I removed one star only mainly because I think the industrial style could have been better if the firm gave it a small additional believed into it, identical goes for the remote handle buttons.

Powers on No ouput signal from any port. AV, RGB, Composite all dead. Tested on a number of device. Gave it 1 star mainly because I can't give any much less.Support is non-existant. Installation/User manual incredibly poor. Explains the product but does not give any instrustions on how to start up or troubleshoot. Tried to download more manuals from the kworld-gobal.com internet site, but practically nothing would download. Will attempt 1 replacement. Will update this post when new device arrives and I have the potential to test.

ATSC/QAM tunner for a affordable price tag with a VGA out, turns your LCD monitors into TVs.Very good reception for more than the air channels, it did better then other HD Television tuners. only two VGA resolutions allowed, make certain your monitor supports themhandle buttons on the box are limited to energy on/off, therefore if you loose the remote manage, you will not be capable to use the boxkworld's client support is nonexistent, make positive to study newegg's return policy carefully. The manual, software, connection style could be enhanced on. The box did not final me even two weeks, it stopped functioning, the power light goes on, but the box does not react to any inputs from remote or the buttons on the device itself. I am sending it for a replacement.

wonderful picture top quality. i now get all accessible ota hd signals in 1080i, comes with nice magnetic base antenna which helped to adjust just proper for the 1 vhf station in my location. the unit has good adjustment functions for brightness/volume/etc, perfect match for my 2002 "hd prepared" 42 inch rear projection tv that only has component inputs for 1080i. the potential to view images in hd by way of usb is extremely good, though photos straight from the camera may well load slow. unit does have some controls if you can't come across the remote. 1st unit was a dud (bad 1st impression), tech support only open m-f pacific time, no way to edit channel lists (solution is to factory reset and manual scan), remote could be greater, captions constantly seem to be on by default (although at least there is a captions button on the remote), no digital audio or surround output, adding a scaler function for straightforward pc to hdtv would have been worth additional expense, the unit does have a slight lag to it occasionally, the images on television via usb function was really slow with my 10mp photos. i am using vga to element cables which permit to connect by way of the rear of the unit and output to the television in 1080i. it is a small additional handy to route the cables that way. if you are annoyed by the element connections getting on the side, it is an solution...

I purchased the unit for the QAM tuner. This allows me to tune digital channels (including HD) that are sent by my cable provider (Comcast). It will not acquire any encrypted channels and in my location will only tune "basic" digital channels even even though I have a subscriber package that includes other digital channels. This is not the fault of the unit, but rather a function of the digital box that should be registered with the cable provider to enable the unlocking of the non-basic channels. The unit is desirable and has component video outputs, which enable HD to pass. Note the HD is 1080i, not 1080p. This is available on the video component outputs, which are the only ones I applied. The reception high quality of the HD stations is extremely excellent, with superb detail and fantastic colour saturation. My unit situated and received 38 stations. There is no digital audio output (coax or optical) so the sound will not be surround good quality. The QAM tuner will find stations readily available on cable. It will assign them numbers that will not correspond with the "normal" channel numbers, so tuning calls for some expertise. For example, channel 13 becomes 50-1 for the HD signal. (note: this is true of all QAM tuners I have utilised).Despite the fact that the HD channels are outstanding video quality, non-HD stations have quite poor video top quality (much significantly less than typical) and appear out of concentrate. The element outputs are on the side of the unit, not the back, so the enormous cable ƕ cables with audio) will be visible when the unit is positioned on your shelf or in your cabinet. The unit becomes fairly hot during use, so be positive there is sufficient ventilation. If you have a 1080p display, this tuner is not capable of giving you the ideal image because it is restricted to 1080i. Satisfaction with QAM tuner will rely on how a lot of stations your cable provider leaves "open". Due to the fact my provider only leaves over-the-air or "free" stations open, it severely limits the usefulness of this tuner. Of the 38 stations it positioned, 11 were HD, 11 were the very same stations not in HD, and practically all the rest have been shopping, religious, or foreign language stations. I would recommend you check with your cable organization prior to utilizing this as a QAM tuner. It may possibly meet your needs, but I returned the unit (thanks Newegg for a fair return policy) mainly because the worth added did not justify the cost.

This product is offered at a good cost. Simple installation. Item is quite poorly manufactured and does not come with the PBr cables needed to connect to the Television. The unit would not turn off by remote or button. The cable connection pulled out of the unit when screwing my cable to the unit. Buttons had been misaligned suitable out of the package

QAM tuner randomly locks up, has to have energy plug removed to reset. Won't uncover 2 of the 3 major network HD channels. Buttons are poorly labeled - have to use the manual to decipher. A good thought, but terrible high quality, poorly thought out controls and lack of customization - like locking out undesirable channels - make this an unacceptable solution.

I wanted to get hd television to my projector at home, since I don't have cable/dish. This unit is self-explanatory in that I connected the elements and audio cables to my receiver, changed the resolution output to 720p (imo, the finest searching resolution for my setup), adjusted the contrast and brightness a bit, setup the antenna, auto scanned for channels (it gets comparable final results as my television converter box), and viola, it's great to go.I like utilizing this unit examine to my Zenith television converter box simply because it has component output and 720p capability. No manual required. Like the other reviews mentioned, you do have to do the dash when browsing for channels (input 30-1 to get channel 30 for instance). But I see this as a minimal con since I get only 14 channels in my region, no huge deal channel surfing a channel at a time. Overall it met my wants and so far it's operating flawlessly. I mainly got it to watch hd programming for prime time tv and upcoming MLB, NBA and NHL playoffs and later, Sunday football.

Gave me about 45 distinct unlocked channels on Comcast, such as all the local HD content, 1080i image didn't appear so terrible on my Olevia 342i utilizing VGA (the Television doesn't have a constructed-in tuner), box is fashionable. Locks up randomly, box itself gets warm, remote is horrid enough where I replaced it with a Harmony, locks up randomly, and when attached to an antenna, reception would be dodgy at greatest. Could also use far more connectivity (USB out, FireWire out with AVC video) Had KWorld spent a little far more on style and manufacture, this box would in all probability perform well. As it is, I went back to Comcast and got a HD DVR box soon after returning this unit.

I was able to tune into all clear QAM stations. The remote is capable to flip by way of channels OK.You can turn it on and off with the take away, unless it freezes up (see cons)Picture and sound are just fine on an older CRT television Exactly where to start . . . The setup menu leaves a ton to be preferred. Every time I change the channel this ginormous menu appears at the bottom that tells me absolutely practically nothing. You can't enter channel info into it. It tells me the year is 1969, and I can't change that, lol. There's a couple of buttons on the remote that are fundamentally "do not touch" buttons. Anytime I do, the whole issue freezes up and the video screws up. The only issue you can do is unplug it, and plug it back in. I would give it 2 stars, if there were a better solution out there. This is by far the cheapest external QAM tuner out there, virtually the only 1 out there at all, which is surprising. It fundamentally works, and believe it or not I'm glad I purchased it given that there are no greater options.I'm not saying anything about it's higher-def capability, considering that I have it hooked to an older CRT television.

It's a QAM tuner that does a pretty fantastic job pulling channels from cable carrier. The manual is terrible. User can\'t go to desired channel from channel menu. Remote is confusing. Lately, turning on Tv yields a gray screen with no sound. Unplugging tuner and reconnecting resolves issue. Newegg, as usually, is terrific.

Bought this along with a 24" Asus monitor to attempt to cheap out on finding an HD Television. Monitor works good on my Computer. Exactly where the other TVs in my home can pick up 7 broadcast channels, this picks up 2. I've attempted distinct antennas, and so on, nonetheless doesn't get anything. The "true widescreen" compatibility is also a joke, I did at some point handle to get it to stretch, but couldn't get a actual widescreen image. I wasted a heck of a lot more then ๖ on this piece of junk, it now sits in a box of unused electronics, waiting for the day that I get cable.

Good picture good quality on ATSC HD feeds. Unit is smaller, has a easy interface, and runs cool/stable. Retrieves guide information, ratings, closed captioning, and SAP feeds with no dilemma. Outputs on either element+RCA or VGAƯǞ" to fit a stereo/PC atmosphere.Picks up all of my local broadcast stations ƒx CBS, PBS, ABC, Fox, NBC, 2x CW, Univision, and various subchannels for each) when paired with a decent antenna. The included antenna is really standard (only picked up 1 CBS, PBS, ABC, Fox, 1 CW), and I had to purchase a much better antenna to choose up some of the further away stations. Only analog ƒ channel) audio is ouput, but most Tv (even HD feeds) have pretty standard sound mixes so this isn't as well significantly of a loss. I am using this as an external ATSC (broadcast) tuner with a Mitsubishi HC1500 720p DLP projector. It operates excellent in this capacity (my projector lacks a tuner); nonetheless, I have not checked it with cable/QAM.

good image high quality, compact design, appealing look the remote control is pretty awful(abstract icons, black paint on black plastic),no grip on the bottom, barely touching the unit will disturb picture, you have to be true cautious with connecting cables( it feels like it will break) This tuner only has a few gripes for me. I think if kworld would have spent a couple of dollars a lot more on every single unit to make it much more steady it would be good.Maybe if they get rid of the abstract icons on the remote and put words on it rather, and construct it a tiny superior it would be worth the price.if i didn't purchase this on sale i would be returning it, but it's a very good value if you get it on sale.

The box does what they say it will do. I like the fact that you don't need to have the laptop turned on to use it. The picture high quality is incredibly excellent and the box is eye-catching sitting subsequent to my monitor. The antenna that comes with it is modest but works incredibly fantastic. When I first received the unit it did not function. The documentation is so undesirable that I wasn't certain if I was in fact setting it up appropriate. Tried acquiring some tech assistance from Kworld and they by no means named back. I sent the unit back and newegg replaced it really promptly (Newegg = fantastic). The new box works fine. As I mentioned, the documentation is really weak. There are a couple of buttons on the remote that are not documented anywhere or just a description of the button but not how it works. I went on the Kworld internet site and they have no extra help for this box or forum for users to exchange ideas. I identified that the antenna works much better than I believed it would and I actually use it rather than the cable connection. I tried the cable connection and the channels are all more than the location so it tends to make it tough to navigate through them. The antenna channels are all in a row suitable have been you would count on them to be and the picture is extremely impressive. Also when you use the antenna you get the added information for the channel that shows the title of the program and channel show listings. With my cable connection I didn't get any of that facts.

I had to actually mess with the remote to get the appropriate settings. The remote is just okay. Box gets a little hot (recommend turning off when not in use). I purchased the box for my Samsung HDTV that didn't have a QAM tuner. I use it with my cable package and now get all my neighborhood channels (FOX, CBS, NBC, ABC, plus some extra digital channels) in high definition. It definetely was worth the $. (This is a good option for the older HDTV's with out a QAM Tuner)

I plugged it into the composite video port of my television, and all I got was a black snowy screen with no way to see a menu. Then I tried it employing the component input of the Tv and got same final results.I went additional and tried it in other two Television's and a pc LCD monitor, and got identical results. In addition, the unit stops responding to the remote manage and the controls in the unit, so you have to pull the plug to turn it off.The user manual is useless I guess you get what you pay for.

Affordable; supports 1080i (that's the maximum absolutely free more than the air HD signal you can get); supports Component and has audio jack for Pc speakers; image excellent is far better than DVD! I turned my 24" Gateway Pc monitor and 28" Viewsonic monitor into a Television with this device. This is way cheaper than buying a HDTV of the similar screen size!! remote, manual and details menu is not as user friendly; devote far more income if you want perfect and easy, but this value can't be beat if you want standard free 1080i HD Television; as soon as it's set up, it was easy: all i do now is just turn the device on and flip the channels with the remote!
