Solid, well constructed, with nice finish. Parts say quality not cheap. The manual explains everything well and is easy to follow. One thing missing from the manaul is if you are using less than 4 HD's and your Disk Manager does not see the drives be sure you have inserted a drive in the top bay. I am using 2 and I inserted one in the bottom bay as recommended and the other just above, Disk Manager did not recognize the unit until I left one in the bottom and put the other in the top. My desktop uses USB connection and my laptop uses eSATA. This unit is available to both with the push of a button, nice convenience. I wanted a simple and dependable JOBD drive enclosure for a reasonalbe price with easy set up and use. I have it. And it looks good. |
Nice multiple drive enclosure that does what it's supposed to. However, unless you have a eSATA card with port multiplier technology, you cannot use this as a RAID. It does not have its own controller. Also, while the rest of the unit is well made, I had problems getting the door to open and close properly as it was constantly getting stuck on something. That's sad for an enclosure of that price range.
