Incredibly quiet, well constructed cooler. As others have said, quite dificult to mount on 1156񳁳 employing the Intel style push-pins. I had to eliminate my board from my case. The pins are beneath the cooler and extremely dificult to push straight down on. This does what I wanted it to do. It quietly keeps my CPU cool in my HTPC case. A huge improvment in cooling and much quieter than the Intel fan.Core i-3 560, ASROCK P55 Pro USB3, nMEDIAPC 2000B, Arctic Silver

Not positive, can't use it WIDE, WIDE, WIDE! I have been constructing systems for years and this has to be the most tough cooler I ever installed. I was hoping to use this low rise cooler in my carpc case (COOLER MASTER Elite one hundred RC-100-KKP3, Ӯ.78" higher) but no go. 1st off, you have to have girlie fingers to get to the pins to push into the motherboard. I had to have my wife hold the board even though I pressed them down with a screwdriver. Eventually I got all four seated but the massive heatsink stuck out also significantly for me to place the case cover on. Fortunately, I didn't cut the cover yet due to the fact, following measuring, there is no way it's going to match even if I cut the cover. It's just as well large. This really effectively could be a wonderful cooler but it's too big for my application so I'll consume the ฮ+ and go get a EverCool CUW3-610 Low Profile 1U cooler rather. This could be an unfair critique simply because I must of spent a lot more time researching the width but the height is certainly a lot more than what I read.

Reasonably effective cooling, substantially greater than stock cooling (but you would have to hope given that OEM coolers are totally free). I dropped about 3C average and 5C off peak temps on my Core i3 - low profile HTPC case with limited ventillation. I would count on 7-9C drops at peak on a method with better case airflow than my application affords. SIZE, SIZE, and SIZE.I was expecting it so it wasn't a frustrating surprise in my case, but I could simply see it becoming one particular if you don't read the specs and plan accordingly. For example I'm using an ITX board and there is no way to access Something on the board connection-sensible after attaching the cooler. I knew this ahead of time and so I already put the memory on the board and attached the 4-pin power connector and audio front-panel cable prior to placing the cooler on. Made for some weird positions in the course of installation - but substantially less difficult than getting to deal with trying to attach cables you can't see when the board is in the case with the cooler installed. Even on bigger boards - if you're going to use your two memory slots that are closest to the CPU socket, then you're going to want to install them first. And no tall heatsinks on that memory either... they absolutely won't clear the fins.

Quiet, excellent low profile, greater than stock i7 920 fan Push pin assembly. It applies so a lot pressure that it bends the motherboard. I had to improvise and manufacture a help plate for it. This challenge is fixable so it's not a big concern. I installed this cooler inside an Apevia X-Qpack 2 and it fit like a glove. My overclocked i7 920 three.33Ghz (D0) does not exceed 65c beneath load. The stock fan would turn into a jet engine at those temperatures but the Shuriken stays silent no matter what-I'm really impressed. With an MSI m58x, the heatsink does NOT touch the ram heatsinks (if you have any). From what I've noticed and tested, the Large Shuriken is the only sound option if you want a silent, low profile cooler.

It fits in slim HTPC cases and other circumstances like them. The fan is nearly silent (only tends to make a slight noise at 1k rpm that you have to be actually close to hear). Even when you crank up the heat the fan stays quiet. All this and the cooler nevertheless manages to keep the processor several degrees cooler than stock. "Difficult" to set up. They truly produced it the absolute shortest achievable. This implies when you set up it you will have to take the motherboard out just to be in a position to get a fantastic adequate angle on the clips since you will almost certainly have to leave the RAM in. My HTPC is in a Lian Li Pc-C37B and this heatsink fits perfectly in it, with area to spare.I have been arranging on possibly developing a HTPC for my parents and I can say devoid of a doubt this heatsink will go in theirs as properly.

- Significantly far better than the stock CPU that comes with the i5-750- Low profile, have lots of room above my motherboard- My CPU runs in the low 40s. - Given that it sits low on the motherboard, you possibly WILL need low profile RAM.- On my Gigabyte P55-UD4P it hovers more than two RAM slots and if I didn't have low profile RAM, I'd have had to return the RAM and get some low profile ones.- The installation guidelines are genuinely vague and most of whats on the box is in Japanese. Do a small googling if you haven't installed CPU coolers prior to.- The plastic pegs expected some scary amounts of pressure to get by means of the motherboard. The final a single I had to wiggle to get by way of. It looks genuinely nice and works amazingly properly. If you don't care as much about low-profile, go for the Mugen II, which is listed as SCMG-2100 on Newegg.

This was installed on AMD Athlon II X3 450.I wanted a much better cooler than the "free" but awful AMD stock heatsink. Idle temps went down nearly ten degrees ྾-31 Celsius). I did not test it beneath load but. It seems well created all round and is large next to stock heatsink. It does what it should for the value. If I was a hardcore gamer, I'd get anything else although. I didn't notice any considerable decrease in sound levels compared to stock. It's quiet. Not straightforward to install. Had to remove motherboard, clips are hard to lock on mounting bracket. RAM is not accessible in my Asus micro ATX board with this heatsink installed. The sides of the fan sits a few millimeters above ram bank 1. Even though it was not super uncomplicated to set up, it fits quite well on my micro ATX board. I'm not sure why Scythe decided to nickel plate the copper base. Nickel is a poor conductor.

Slim fan with additional than ample airflow! Strong construction and mounting. None What-So-Ever I really used the slim fan off this on my Cosiar H50 in a perticularly tight case atmosphere, and I couldn't be happier. The fan, when really slim, nevertheless has wonderful airflow with out a lot noise at all. The remaining heatsink itself was employed on an AMD Athlon X2 board with a normal-width 120MM fan attached and maintains core temperatures amongst 48C and 55C on a three.98 GHz overclock. All round, a fantastic solution regardess of the quick applications.

I didn't attempt stock cooling, but I consider it outperformed it and at a reduce noise level. For most individuals getting this HSF, it is almost certainly one of your only alternatives for a low profile case. I put this in a Lian Li Pc-C37b HTPC case. affordable 40C idle and 58C below loadI was disappointed with the cooling overall performance. My case, the Lian Li Pc-C37b commonly gets reviewed as obtaining superior cooling to most HTPC situations, but this HSF had difficulty cooling a Athlon II X4 645 ࿿w) out of the box. At the stock 3.1ghz and voltage with Arctic Silver 5, I was idling at 55C, and load temps were uncomfortably high at about 75C. I found this strange considering that the case has a 120mm vent straight above the CPU. I was disappointed because I anticipated being capable to do a mild overclock with this HSF, and undoubtedly never anticipated obtaining to be concerned about higher temps at stock clock speed. I had a tiny additional clearance, so I replaced the stock fan with a Yate Loon medium speed 120mmተmm fan. It's not PWM, but is very quiet and puts out twice as much air as the stock fan. My temps dropped to a much more reasonable 40C idle and 58C under load. I intend to add a bit additional case cooling to drop temps additional, but don't anticipate getting able to overclock.

Low profile, quieter than a stock AMD cooler. Looks neat. Slow fan speed, doesn't maintain your CPU as cool as a stock AMD cooler. Temperatures beneath full load utilizing Prime95 torture test were 2C - 3C hotter than a stock AMD cooler. The stock cooler kept my AMD Phenom X6 1055T at 55C throughout this test, and this factor kept it about 57C - 58 C. This was with Artic Silver five thermal compound. Why pay this a lot dollars for a cooler that doesn't even cool as effectively as a stock AMD cooler? I believe I would prefer my system be a tiny loud rather than have it heating up to inside just 4 degrees of it's thermal threshold. AMD Phenom 1055T Thermal Threshold = 62C

Utilizes stock mounting pinsLight weightFantastic cooling efficiency, like PWM A tiny challenging to install with huge fingers This is the fourth CPU cooler I have installed on my Intel 775 830 CPU, which includes the stock one and a vertical type unit, all are stock mounting kind, using push pins - I don't want to pull the mob to set up a enormous hunk of copper. This is the best performer of the four, 10-15 degrees cooler, and particularly essential, simply because of the huge fan size cools the PWMs better. I can burn DVDs (which cranks the CPU up near one hundred%) devoid of turning up the case fans to keep the PWMs cool enough

CPU never gets above 40c.Fits completely.Smart design and well created.Excellent mounting hardware.Cools MB components close to CPU as effectively.Simple to set up.Fully silent. Not high-priced. None. I'm using this with a Core i5 CPU & socket 1156 evga P55 LE motherboard. I didn't get the fan at newegg simply because at the time they didn't sell this model. I'm working with this cooler in an XCLIO case that has a big fan more than the CPU location, so I wanted something low and flat. This fits perfectly. Be cautious that the feet don't sit on the circuits etched in the PBC. Shouldn't be a problem. This fan is truly superb I very advise. I'd buy stock in the organization if I could.

Keeps my X6 1090T running at three.6Ghz with a full load at 59C. Idles at 36C (Room temp is 23C).Fully silent. This heatsink is a beast for its size.On my complete ATX motherboard this doesn't cover the ram slots. Couldn't get a very good grip on the mounting bracket but it was reasonably straightforward when I utilised a wrench. I mounted it ahead of I put my motherboard in. Like one more reviewer, I have a XClio case with a giant fan on the side/front so I wanted some thing low profile given that it currently had great airflow.

Smaller and QUIET are the two major hitters here. Installation for AM3 was simple, to the point, swift and did not make me concerned for CPU. Set BIOS to Turbo and I can not hear fan unless I am < .5m away. Does not cool like bigger coolers, but that is to be expected...it is Tiny. Installed without having problem in my SUGO case. Fits with a little room above also (which it is beneath the PS fan). AMD Athlon II 2.9GHZ idles at 38C and peaks at 49C beneath load with ambient at 28C in SFF Case, Silverstone SUGO.

i use this in my HTPC on a mATX board and it rocks. install expected me to get rid of the board, but in a HTPC i was currently expecting that. overall, install was swift (less than 30 minutes). it runs about 715rpm on average and i can't hear it. i have a low-flow setup with the HTPC case behind glass in a tv cabinet. for around 40 bucks, this is a no brainer over the stock intel piece i was working with. i suppose the warranty doesn't look that great, but for 40 bucks - what ever. there doesn't seem to be that several low-profile selections out there for hsf. this scythe item is a fantastic get in that market.

It comes with ALLLL the connections for each and every, so no will need to search for a separate kit to do either or.Also, it’s Low Profile, so if you are purchasing and building a SFF (Small Kind Element / HTPC), this fan in great. Now, you can’t tell with the picture, but THIS Point IS HIGE 鲸mm Fan). I have applied it numerous instances in the SILVERSTONE Sugo SG01-BF Black Aluminum / Steel MicroATX Desktop Computer Case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163116). I constructed an i3 540 HTPC earlier this year, and the stock Intel cooler was running extremely hot even soon after being reseated (high 40's idle). Given that I have an HTPC case, my possibilities have been severely restricted... luckily I ran into information on the SCBSK-1000:Pros:-Prime notch design and style and quality-My i3 is now in the upper 20's - low 30's idle-Low clearance for shallow cases-Fully silent Cons:-Installation was somewhat tricky in a tight space, but still doable-Could take up a lot of horizontal space and get in the way of RAM (depending on your motherboard) Good item... would advise to everyone with an HTPC.

THis keeps my i5-661 running cool and entirely quiet. I run this in a Silverstone SG01 with an Intel DH55TC mobo and a Seasonic 460 fanless provide. No other fans are needed. And -once more- whisper quiet. Like a lot of similar fans, installation requires patience and relaxing background music. Sooner or later you'll get it suitable. :-) The SG01 case presents restricted clearance to the energy supply, and this fits perfectly, and runs noiselessly.

-Keeps my i5 2500k cpu operating at 37 celsius-Significantly quieter than stock fan-Works excellent in situations requiring low cpu fan clearance -Terrible push pin system for sandy bridge motherboard-Had to obtain separate retention kit for much easier installation-Poor instruction manual I purchased this fan due to the fact it was the ideal option for my Silverstone GD05B case. I had a terrible time attempting to set up it initially on my intel motherboard (used stock fan rather). I bought Scythe's Universal Retention 3 and made a second attempt at it when I received a replacement motherboard from the recall. The install went significantly more smoothly and is incredibly stable in my technique now. It would have 5 stars if not for the unfriendly push pin technique and my need to have to purchase a separate retention kit for easier installation.

This heatsink is awesomely low profile. There is about 12mm of clearance between it and my Bluray drive in my Silverstone GD04B case. When the case's 3 120mm fans could have a thing to do with it, the CPU itself has never observed more than 30*C even though simultaneously ripping DVD's and watching video from the HDD. Installation was easy, but one particular side of the clips that provide clamping force was just millimeters away from one particular of my mobo's chipset heatsinks. Good looking heatsink.

Fairly lightweight, keeps my Core i3 550 at 23 C at idle and 39 C on load, silent, adapts to many socket varieties. Installation is a nightmare due to the footprint of the top of the heatsink. I installed this on an LGA1156 board and had to attach it with the motherboard outdoors the case; one thing I usually don't like undertaking. A little bit later, I had to take it off because I didn't place my ram in the proper dimms to get dual channel, which is exactly where things became intriguing.Unless you're a grandma who knits 24ǝ that can bend a penny in half with her fingers, you'll will need some pliers to get this issue back off. A lot of the challenge is likely the fault of Intel's push lock heatsink program, but it's augmented by the accessibility of the pins. Attempting to turn the pins whilst navigating previous capacitors and ram is nasty organization, and left the pins somewhat chewed up by pliers. I tried to take the fan off to access the pin with a screw driver thinking I could get by means of the fins, but access is still blocked by the copper heat pipe. Scythe seriously didn't have to make the locking system Exactly the exact same as Intel's rounded corner pins. If they would have just place anything like a hex nut on the leading of the pin it would have been a lot easier to lock/unlock with a smaller wrench with a versatile head. Even if they incorporated a proprietary tool that could fasten the heatsink with less work it would be a big improvement. For this fault, I give four stars.

Fits in Lian-li Computer-C36ኁ HTPC instances. Will match into most slim desktop circumstances. It is designed with that objective first and foremost.Second objective is to present max cooling whilst 1st objective is met.Third objective is to keep noise low and it is met quite properly.Exceptional mounting on all sockets.Created the way that it clears all obstructions on AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3 motherboards. It's enormous sized fan and finns overhang NB and memory chips in initial two slots so constructive side effect is airflow and cooling on these components. None if you hold in mind what this solution is suppose to do, see pros and objectives listed there._THIS_IS_NOT_ gaming HSF and this is not HSF for CPUs with 140W TDP. These objectives would contradict design objectives of this solution. You can not have the cake and consume it also. This is low TDP CPU and slim desktop/HTPC case HSF. Retain that in thoughts before you trash it for not being anything it was not meant to be. I have been carrying out this for about 15 years. I am truly impressed with top quality and innovative design and style. I have been searching for _Precisely_IT_ !Newegg, you got the "features" element of spec incorrect ! It is only 58mm tall. Also, this infant has name "BIG SHURIKEN". Use it please, instead calling it "Scythe SCBSK-1000" only. Brand recognition :)

* Sufficient for upto the 𞲲W TDP tested.* Quiet PWM fan.* Low height for brief low profile HTPC situations. * Covers a single of the standard mainboard fastener holes, so really should be installed soon after the mainboard unless you have specialty tools.* Incredibly tiny space for installing right after the mainboard in the case.* So low RAM with tall heastsinks won't fit. Great balance of low noise and cooling efficiency like the other Scythe HSFs I own.I'm not positive which is harder, installing it on an AM2(+)/AM3 (center flip levers) or LGA775 (corner push twist pins) mainboard. It's undoubtedly not meant for simply altering hardware like CPU or RAM, so get the system and settings correct before placing it in the HTPC case.

Quiet and cools well as to be expected. Works nicely in low profile case, based on processor location and ducting. This heatsink may possibly work in a 2U rack mounted case. Not easly installed/uninstalled. It prevents use on Channel B Dimm 1 on my Asus Maximus III Gene. I could not have it and my optical drive in a Moncaso 312B. I tested this on my bench, immediately after a the time consuming install it worked nice. But I could not connect my optical drive with this heatsink. So I'll use it in one more program, rather than eat S&H + the restocking fee. I like it adequate I will try a smaller version in the HTPC.
