Device works as intended. It even came with tiny double sided tape to secure it to the case or what ever you want to secure it to.Also was detected correct away by FreeBSD 7.two...I'm utilizing it in my FreeNAS box. Would have been nice if the CF card didn't stick out the back, but thats truly minor that it seriously doesn't warrant a -1 egg. The device have two LEDs, a yellow and a red one particular. They are constantly on 24ǝ. But considering that the adapter is in the case (with no side window), I don't see it. May well want to look at it although.

Performs with SATA II 3gb/s - Installed in a HTPC with windows XP on 2X 5gig Seagate CF in RAID - windows begins in about a min or significantly less - worked suitable from the start off - HTPC is incredibly rather and low heat inside case - cant hear it operating unless i place my ear on case. i have each drives installed in one particular 3.five bay stacked together with double side tape in a mATX case. lots of area to work Only accepts floppy type power plug - sata energy plug would be good to have. installed on a GIGABYTE GA-MA78GPM-UD2H with AMD Phenom 9950 Agena 2.6GHz - - I didnt want significantly HDD storage due to HTPC is networked to my NAS Media drive - i only necessary quickly operating OS === i also tried this with mythtv and a few other linux based OS"s and they ran great also. Excellent product - get it

I've had no hardware or application difficulties None so far. Maybe the price tag... When I purchased this, I was searching for was anything modest. I just wanted anything to run FreeNAS. Installation was easy (no conflicts with hardware) and loading my OS was flawless. The down side to my assessment is, I can't seriously say I push the Syba or perform it to its pull potential.

Got this based on constructive reviews from others, and it was comparatively economical. The adapter seems to operate okay WHEN AND IF the method recognizes it - I have gotten it to boot and run Windows XP Qualified SP3. Most of the time the CF card is NOT recognized by my system - it just in no way shows up (tried Intel D865PERL constructed-in SATA ports, also various SATA ports on SiL 3124 add-in PCI card). Possibly the method recognizes it as soon as in each and every 10 boots. Tried warm boot, cold boot, unplugging and re-seating a variety of things from the CF - SATA adapter Ɠ.5" floppy style energy connector, SATA cable), I attempted unique CF cards, various SATA cables, and so on., but it appears to be really flaky/erratic as to when it works. LEDs generally indicate CF detected (yellow) and power (red). Green activity LED operates when the method essentially recognizes the card, and the card seems to perform okay till the next reboot. Feasible a bad unit. Weighing the trouble of returning it due to the fact it was only ฟ. Will also try in in an additional method (I have several older Intel D865묃 Pentium IV based systems nevertheless utilizing PCI/AGP). Good notion Worked 5 out of every single 10 restarts. Not only did it not work most of the time but it would trigger some of my other SATA drives to not be recognized by the BIOS. They weren't even on the exact same channel!!! This tends to make me assume it wasn't affecting the SATA channel but the south/northbridge itself. My system goes by means of POST is less than 4 seconds. Nonetheless if this card was attached, it would take about a minute (and would bring about other drives to not be recognized). It additionally messed up my overclock and would reset every thing back to factory settings following a handful of failed restart attempts. In all probability terrible unit but worthless QA on their part... I'm not receiving a replacement. Newegg rocks!!!!!!!! I named for an RMA and I was told to throw the pice of junk in the trash and I would get my refund anyway. I Appreciate NEWEGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will by no means stop obtaining from them. EVER

Quite quick. Had a hard time receiving this factor to boot with older Hardware. It did operate with PCI raid cards nevertheless in a older machine it would not play fair with all my drives installed at the identical time. Also could not boot Windows 7 Embedded from this adapter in a newer AMD AM2 Athlon x2 6000+ board, use IDE adapter performs fine. FreeNAS boot with this adapter with no challenges. Access instances are really low and speed appears to be wonderful. FreeNAS which is base on FreeBSD boots in beneath ten Seconds. And it's cousin (IDE version) Boots Windows 7 Embedded in below ten seconds

Appears to be identical sata adapter behavior to the SYBA two.5" drive version. Requires up much less space and permits uncomplicated access to CF card. A lot much better worth due to the fact less material and no usb connector. Leds show power, CF, activity. CF card protrudes far more than I'd like, but it performs. Led's not externally visible when mounted in a slot bay. Sata connector seems to be stronger material (less brittle) than the 2.five" drive version given that it is not housing material. Haven't verified that exactly, but none of them broke off like the 2.5" drive version. This tends to make an exceptional boot drive for any sort of appliance like a router, storage server, etc. Generally I can boot from power on in like eight seconds with a 230x CF card.

Operates as advertised. Draws much less energy that any hard drive.Simple to setup (no drivers)Performs excellent on linux (using Fedora 12 and CentOS)Can be mounted in a lot of versitile approaches (think 1U micro server with restricted space) Makes use of Compact Flash (CF) cards- they are in fact the best for a balance of speed/capacity/performance but I favor to use Secure Digital (SD) I've utilized these cards (ordering my second 1 now) and other people like them to generate embedded servers. NAS devices, an Asterisk server and my most recent project is two identical KVM virtualization servers. They are all operating just fantastic and do a great job of lowering energy expenses and taking old and new hardware and making into one thing you can actually use.

If it would function, it's a wonderful notion. 1) Mine didn't perform. It wasn't DOA, but it wouldn't boot off of my CF card, which had booted in other devices. No amount of playing with BIOS settings or jumpers would make this adapter function. So I'm RMA-ing it and hoping the subsequent a single performs. 2) The bracket for attaching to the rear of the case is so poorly designed that if your case has any metal dividers amongst the PCI bays, they will overlap the hole in the bracket and you won't be able to push the card by way of the hole into the adapter. Way to go on that 1, guys. If this wasn't fundamentally the only viable alternative for a CF-to-SATA adapter in this value range, I'd be receiving anything else. I hope the next a single functions.

Installed in a 1U rackmount AMD Zacate program as the boot device with 8GB CF card. BIOS picked it up immediately and let me install Linux onto it correct away. Zero Just as other mentioned - this is a excellent affordable option to an SSD with the right card. Can't beat the price!

Just like a challenging drive. No problems in the OS recognizing them along with 8GB compact flash. None I applied these adapters with 8GB compact flash disks. I setup 1 compact flash with Ubuntu and cloned 11 additional kiosk machines. By carrying out it this way I could be from a parts to a fully functional, user ready laptop or computer in much less than 20 minutes. Excellent time saver carrying out it this way.

Works as advertised, Included SATA cable. Don't have rails for an internal bay. Paired this with a Lexar 300x UDMA ࿈+MB/s) card for high speed, low latency log and it works like a charm. I have added it to as a ZFS ZIL the added speed at a fraction of the price of a decent SSD. With the price of a fundamental SATA cable these days, this unit is a genuine deal.

For the price, it works like a charm. Quite speedy with the suitable CF card. Can be mounted where a laptop HDD would usually be. Utilizes a Floppy Drive power connector, which it comes with the adaptor for. Still, I wonder why they didn't just use a SATA power connector.
