Plugged it in, hooked up the ESATA cable to a new external challenging drive, Windows recognized them both, and they've been working just fine ever since. none Make confident you have an ESASTA to ESATA cable on hand mainly because it doesn't come with one particular.

Functions excellent for me. I got it so that I could connect my new external eSATA hard drive. I've had it for about six months now and have no complaints. Newegg rocks as usual! There's only 1 external connection.

Trustworthy low cost solution for using optical drives or a 3rd challenging drive in an Intel raid setup. Makes use of Silicon Image chipset for good support. eSATA support for external devices. PCIe X1 port help that can absolutely free up your other precious PCI card slots for your older devices. I had no difficulties/issues to report about. You could need to have your drivers when working with this for CD/DVD to operate when installing windows. If you have any troubles with this issue and can't get significantly assist from Syba, you can use the Silicon Image web-site for assist as it is a basic SiI design and compatible with their BIOS updates.

Hey, I only required the esata feature, the pro is I have an further sata inside must I ever require it. None as of however. I bought the MI 890fx GD-65 board because I liked the truth it has 3 pciex1 slots. Effectively, this took 1 of them given that the board doesn't come with esata, which I appreciate and can't reside without. All of my sata ports are becoming applied on the board so I required this undesirable. By no means believed I would use all sata ports on a board till this one particular. I'm operating a raid ten with a dvd and a drive for back up's. I necessary esata to use one more os practically. This performs nicely for that. I have no challenges with it. Window 7 64bit pro found the drivers and it functions..........what else is there to say.

Popped it into a gigabyte ma770t-ud3p and I have e-sata once again. Also supports port replicators. None. Driver cd has tons of drivers for virtually each and every operating method you can think of. But it was useless in my case, win xp 64bit. Driver auto installed. Not utilizing it in raid, so can't comment about that.

I am transferring 300x CF cards at 35MB/s average more than this card employing a CF to sata adapter. I get full rated drive speed over eSata employing this card as properly and I see no difference in overall performance between this card and the on-board Intel controller on my P5B-E MB. It is nothing at all fancy, but it does preserve up with SATA II and gets the job performed with not glitches. None In response to the particular person beneath, if you're getting only 20mb/s then you are in all probability getting troubles with your destination drive becoming also slow at writing.

Wow, for a no name product, at that price, I was ready fro hassles. I got none. This has one internal SATA and a single external ESATA port, two birds with one particular stone. It installed and worked fine on my SuperMicro Nforce pro server board, and permitted me to connect to the Gigabyte Iram! (the onboard SATA controllers would not speak to the I-Ram when they are in RAID mode)It came with real XP64 bit drivers! None so far. XP64bit drivers! Tiny.Functions with Gigabyte I-ram strong state drive.Affordable!

It's affordable, it's spacious, and it functions excellently. The drive stays cool, not hot at all. Fairly silent. I am 100% happy. Some could dislike the blue light, but I don't sleep near it so not a difficulty. No esata cable integrated, but who cares? I had a bit of trouble reformatting for mac at 1st, but I assume that a computer difficulty rather than a HD issue. I got it working with a brief fix, no prob. It does take a nap following about 10 min. of becoming unused. Operating it on USB now simply because stupid me ordered an esata pci express card, not knowing that my old g4 only requires PCI... oh well, uncomplicated to appropriate. I actually enjoy this drive, I run my itunes off of it to clear up some space, and I can watch motion pictures off of it too, just with usb. as soon as I get an esata card, it'll fly!

Low price, but... Comes with MacOS X driver which OSX ten.five.5 failed to recognize. Attempted the RAID-5 driver from chip maker's web page and OSX sees it now, but fails to see my eSATA drive which is plugged into the card.

I just installed the card and rebooted, and the Vista x64 driver downloaded from Windows Update and loaded in automatically. It was the most recent Silicon Image version also Ƒ..15.5, dated 4ቷ񳏉), so I truly didn't want to do a thing. None I have an Asus P5Q Pro motherboard, which has the Intel P45 chip-set that possibly aids compatibility. I count on any compatibility problems are possibly due to older motherboards. But I haven't carried out any speed tests. These rely on the speed of the supply and destination drives anyway. Far more importantly, they rely on the size of the test file(s). A large file of say 1 GB will transfer at a significantly greater speed than a lot of 4 KB files. Unless you specify how you are testing, the results are pretty useless. This card is rapidly sufficient.

My average transfer rate is about 120 mbps. This is a lot faster than USB two. and at times it peaks at 200 mbps. Excellent card, smaller, straightforward install, low cost.Acquire this, far better than fire wire. and accepts internal sata. Produced my windows vista x64 quit sleeping. Couldn't figure out why it under no circumstances went to sleep. I lastly fixed it by producing an account and deleting it and it began sleeping again. Comes close to hitting my 9800 GX2. Not an concern actually. It wasn't cost-free? Shipping expense wasn't exactly pretty. If you need an esata repair for an external difficult drive, this is a very good acquire. No external power necessary. I've had it two months devoid of and glitches beside windows not sleeping. *fixed*

This performs with Mac OSX on my Mac Pro. It's a fantastic cost! The other people I've found online had been two-3x the cost of this. Controls the Cavalry storage unit sold by Newegg perfectly. None so far Even although it doesn't say it, the card comes with OS X drivers. You want to make positive that you have a single PCIe lane set up to be 1x bandwidth. I didn't and my Mac didn't see the card until I configured that.To configure the PCIe lanes go to /System/Library/CoreServices/ then run the Expansion Slot UtilityReally effortless to do

Incredibly happy with this. I just redid my technique (dualbooting with Ubuntu 8.10 x64 and Windows XP SP3) and my 250gb Western Digital is working fine by way of this controller card. Compatibility is a large plus in my circumstance. Could be quicker (but not for the cash). I Transferred 100gb to the drive from a single of my other drives (plugged into my motherboard's onboard SATA2 controller) and the transfer rate was a little more than 20mb/s.

Excellent Price tag Even though it's supposed to work with Macs and OS X, it didn't operate with my Quad G5 with ten.4.11. I tried the drivers on the cd and all of my PCI-e slots. It in no way appeared beneath my program profiler. I also tried the older Silicon Images 3132 drivers from their internet site and it nevertheless didn't function.

Straightforward installation, worked perfectly out of the box. Supports hot swapping, in Vista Ultimate I'm able to safely take away external drives. The speed is great. I'm receiving transfer rates around 60mb/s and generally occasions higher. The same drive making use of USB 2. transfers about 12-20mb/s so its considerably faster than USB 2. None so far. I consider it ought to have some onboard chips that help plug&play mainly because my motherboard is affordable and doesn't have anything specific on it that would support esata hot swapping.
