i bought this unit to use with my netbook computer. it works very well, is small and fits in the case with the netbook. no power adapter needed, has read and written every disk i have used. i would say that it is a very good value for the price.

I haven't used it too heavily yet, primarily needed an external drive to install an OS on a UMPC without a cd rom drive (worked great). The device looks very nice and sleek. Quality construction, no cheap housing with edges that don't line up, etc. The only issue that bugged me is that it was not clear that the USB cable it comes with has two USB plugs - presumably to get enough power out of the USB bus. That's not necessarily the devices' fault, but rather in the marketing on the site. Thankfully, it worked off one usb (my UMPC only has 2 ports, and I was using the second for the keyboard). I'm imagining it needs both plugged in for burning.

I bought this burner to use with my eMachines E250 netbook. In the end I have used it on all of my machines. Works great and I have not had any problems. Great deal for the bucks spent.

This external DVD burner works as well as I hoped it would. I bought it for my use with my netbook. It couldnt be a better match. Great price, very small and light, works great!

My daughter's computer would no longer recognize the onboad dvd. The local geek squad wanted more than the PC was worth to install a new one. This was the perfect answer at a fraction of the cost. Truly plug and play, she was back up and loading new software in moments.

burner works good with windows media. The nero that came with it doesn't work.

I am new to disk burning and such. I shopped for months. I wanted something easy for a beginner but with the capacity to grow to intermediate or advanced usage. I read the reviews and took the chance. I so far have not been disappointed! I have edited and burned hours of home video. Nero has been okay but no one says you HAVE to use it.

This is a dandy little optical drive, especially for netbooks that are not equipped with one. It performs flawlessly and is reliable. I can reccommend this product without hesitation and am confident that I or you will enjoy it for quite some time.

Picked it up to use with a new Aspire One netbook. Worked great right out of the box. No driver to install. Reads CD's and Cd-r made one other drives with no problem. Installation CD made on this drive installed lunix on a lap top that had eaten it's Vista boot files and would not boot.

The Nero software that came with it needed a $49 update to the full program before I could even use it. Also, the burner used too much power and caused a surge on my laptop. I sent it back before I even used it due to these issues.

This drive does everything I need it to. If you have a laptop with only one usb port, consider purchasing a powered hub as well. Completely plug and play, works with any burning software. I've purchased three now, and all of them have performed flawlessly on any machine--not just laptops--that I've used them on. I'll continue to purchase and use these for a long time.
