Cons: Not a good match if you need to push a lot of air

Pros: Nearly silentVery reliableAirflow compares well to other similarly low-noise fans
Comment:
I've been using S-FLEX fans for about four years now. I have about a dozen of them, a mixture of SFF21D (this fan), SFF21E, and one SFF21F.I'm still buying them after four years, so that says something about my impression. The D's are whisper quiet, even after four years of use. Three of them in an Antec P182 have no trouble keeping my gaming rig running at comfortable temperatures.

Pros: Very silent fan

This could be a bit cheaper, however it's really quiet which is great if you like a quiet machine or are building a HTPC

Cons: - Does not start at low voltages, so be careful; I would not trust it to start automatically on a voltage-modulated fan header (assuming you don't have control over the start voltage).

Pros: - Extremely quiet
Comment:
I am using an S-FLEX SFF21D with a Scythe Big Shuriken to cool an i5-650 on a Gigabyte H57M-USB3 mATX board in a short desktop-format case.I used this to replace the stock 10mm-depth fan on the Scythe Big Shuriken as I wanted something quieter that would introduce less air turbulence in my short case. It cools the i5 adequately at low rpm and is VERY quiet, running at a minimum of around 300-350rpm idle and 600-700rpm under load (iirc).I do not notice any 'ticking' noises with my SFF21D.As has been reported by users, including silentpcreview, this fan does not start reliably when undervolted. Care must therefore be taken, especially when using it as a cpu fan. This is the case on my Gigabyte motherboard when configured on the cpu fan header as a voltage-modulated fan. It stalls 30-50% of the time when powering on the PC, and I would not recommend using it as a cpu fan without babysitting it during power-on or simply connecting it to a permanent voltage close to 12V -- it is still rather quiet at full speed and produces less noise than the 2.5" hdds in the system.

Cons: -wiring NOT sleaved-wiring very short (had to put an extension to reach header)-2 yr warranty (should be 5 or 6 like AC and Noctua)

Pros: -Quiet-Fluid dynamic bearing-Plain black finish-Silent-Low starting voltage
Comment:
My mobo fan control was irritating because it was changing rpms so often. So got two of these and run them without control, reads 845rpm at full speed and I cant hear them. In my sonata, I have one for rear case fan and one on my noctua cpu cooler, cpu temps idle about 36C and dont go over 45C gaming with coolnquiet disabled, (AMD 955 CPU)Only dissapointment is the lack of sleeving and the short cables, -1 star for that. Now to see how long they last.

This is a very good fan. I put two of these in the front of my antec 300 case and it has cooled everything by a few degrees. If you put your hand in the case you can feel a suprisingly good amount of airflow coming in. Very satisfied.

Cons: Maybe a little weak airflow,, but if you are buying this 800rpm fan than you already know that.

Pros: Very quiet. Inaudiable.
Comment:
Very good fan for an ultra quiet system. May not push a lot of air, but noise is very very low. Great fan. Moves enough air for my htpc If you want a faster one,, get the E or the. This review was modfied by poster @ 12-05-08 09:31 AM

Cons: - Expensive for a fan

Pros: - Extremely quiet- Solid airflow
Comment:
These fans are very, VERY quiet. When I installed it into my case with 3 other fans, I simply couldn't distinguish the new Scythe. The only issue I'd have is the $19 price-tag (when not on sale), which, though partially justified by its performance, is still expensive for fans. So if you're more on the budget-oriented side, it would probably be smarter to wait until this is sold in a weekly special, whenever that maybe.

This fan is particular useful as case side fan for cooling vga card. The case side fan is expose outside and need quiet fan to provide fair amount of cooling and quiet environment.

Perfect for HTPC applications, since they are low flow.. quietest fans I've used yet. Well worth the price if quiet is your goal.

I wanted an alternative to the Yate's Loon (can hear bearings noises)... so I have installed one at the top of my Tagan Black Pearl as an exhaust fan, it does what it have to do, in silence. 800 RPM doesn't seem fast, but it push a fair amount of air for the produced noise.

Cons: not as quiet as everybody says

Pros: cheap for a FDB fan got it for 9.99

WARNING: I AM A FUZZY QUIET FREAKDespite what all the reviews i have read ...it is quiet...but...not as quiet as i was hyped up to believe. I bought 2 to replace the rear and top Tri cools on my p182 that i have used on low mode since day 1. first impression: air flow is around the same as tri cool on low..(official tri cool spec is rated 39cfm and this 33.5). Noise : i putted my ears against both the Tri cool and this, the tri cool actually sounded less annoying ...though the noise is higher, b/c the higher pitched hummmm sort of blends with the environment (could be just me). after the quick installation, 1 feet away, the hum on both the tri cool and the s flex are both inaudible, wat remains audible are the air tubulence(which is what bothers me in the 1st place). This fan is quieter(more thanks to the lower rpm than anything else). Noise is inaudible after dropping the fan to around the 500rpm range, but that pushes VERY little, if any airFeel: When i hold both fans...i know this fan is of SUPERIOR quality b/c vibration is almost non-existent while it is very noitceable on the tri cool(sleeve bearings). When i put my ear against the case, there is NOTICABLY less vibrationConclusion: what do i think of this fan? 8.7dB...i feel that is BS..my tri cool on low is rated r 25dB...so i should get the noise amptitude of 42.65x less (10 x log ((amptitude)/1)) = (25-8.7)is it that much quieter? no...it IS quieter...and...unless this drops to 5 dollars....its not worth your time and $$. unless you are really really fuzzy about air noise.however...this is probably the best drop in solution for a quiet fan (no need for a fan controller) This review was modfied by poster @ 01-02-08 05:14 PM

This fan is amazingly quiet, I could barely hear it with my ear right next to it...it is that quiet. FDB technology makes sure this fan will last forever, definitely worth the extra money for this.

State of the art fan - amazing airflow for so low rpm and noise. I think I'll get another one to replace all stock fans on my P182

Pros: Scythe, the king of fans ;)

Well worth the price, but try and get it on sale anyway. Great value even at the normal price, because this fan has amazing airflow for how quiet it spins. Not *all* Scythe are amazing, but IMHO this is one of the amazing ones.

I've never bought myself a fan before so this is the first one . I wanted to be safe with my Graphic Card and bought this fan to put right in front of my 8800 GTS just to be safe. It does a good job blowing cool air (although I have nothing to compare this to) and I hear absolutely no sound unless I put my ear right next to it.

Cons: -they come in a lot of packaging for a fan (shrink-wrap over plastic cover over cardboard box), but at least some of it's reuseable.

Pros: -as quiet as... uh, things that aren't loud-include cable adapter and screws
Comment:
bought two of these. based on M0O's comment, i ran them for about 2 weeks on the outside of a spare machine's case. no oil seepage at all, he obviously must have gotten a lemon. they're very nice fans, though i'm thinking i might have been better off running the 1200 rpm model at a lower voltage.

Pros: very quiet, includes rubber screws for anti-vibration

all along the blades, and around the edges, i notice a little oil. i know my room can't be that greasy, and it wasn't there before. it must be oil leaking from the bearing. not recommended.

Cons: - Some may find the airflow lacking but its excellent for the noise level.

Pros: - Quiet fan (fan noise and motor noise)- Cheaper and as silent as Nexus «RealSilent» and SilenX- Comes with 3pin for monitoring and screws
Comment:
These fans are designed to be super quiet and still acheive reasonable airflow for cooling. This is exactly what this product is. The motor noise is much much less than the Antec TriCool at low setting that it is replacing while delivering a similar amount of airflow.

Pros: Very quiet, comes with fan screws

I replaced my Thermaltake TT1225 120 mm with this one. The TT1225 was 1300 rpm, 35 cfm airlow, 21 dB (or something like that), this one is 800 rpm 33.5 cfm, 8.7 dB.The fan is definitely as quiet as advertised; I cannot hear it at all. However, my CPU and M/B temps each went up about 3ºC, from about 37ºC to about 40ºC. This is still pretty low, but someone with a higher temp system should take caution with this. The rest of my system is an Antec Sonata case, Athlon 64 3700+ processor, and Radeon X1300 video card.
